While the students of Class 1-A were busy with their training, Shera instantly teleported behind Reika, who was busy chanting the incantation without noticing that the goddess was already behind her back.

     "What a futile struggle..."

Reika was shocked as she heard the familiar voice behind her. A soft but cold and intimidating voice whispered behind her back. Then she realized that it was the goddess talking to her. She tried to face the goddess, but the goddess suddenly clapped her hands twice.

"Well, well, well... What do we have here? I thought all of you here were the chosen ones, but there are two adorable, black sheep amongst the herd... Are my calculations wrong? Or has Izanagi gone senile these days? "

The goddess suddenly choked Reika using her right hand, slowly lifting her above ground. Reika, who didn't understand what was happening, asked the goddess, while struggling in pain and shortness of breath.

"What d-did I do wrong, Goddess Shera.... Hack"

Reika just heard the goddess smirking behind her, without any intention of putting her down. Reika felt that her head was about to explode, but still patiently waited for the goddess's explanation.

"You did nothing wrong, my dear. It's just that there are some circumstances under which unlucky ones will be born in my realm. Unlike monsters, who are lucky creatures that are capable of absorbing aeons and using them for their own gain. Without aeon, their evolution would still be limited, and later they would be culled out due to natural selection of their nature. Although they are creatures without rational thinking, for me they are blessed ones, because a being that can utilize aeon is a god-sent ability in order to survive and fight back against the harsh environment. Unlike you!-- "

Shera slowly tightened her grip on Reika's neck. Reika coughed as she felt the choking continue to worsen. She tried to escape by trying to remove the goddess's hand from around her neck while trying to kick her using her legs. She closed her eyes, while tears dripped down her cheek, hoping that this predicament would end soon.

"Even you, humans, are sentient beings that have a conscience and can think rationally. You are among the races that were blessed by me, but still some of you can't even absorb even an ounce of aeon!? Did you take my existence and this beautiful realm as a joke? This perfect realm which I governed is tarnished because of you oddballs! "

While the goddess was angrily talking, Reika stared back at her classmates, begging for help to quell the goddess's anger. But neither one of them looked directly at Reika. Everyone averted their gaze from her, while others trembled in fear as they looked at the goddess.

Reika realized that begging for help from her classmates was futile. She realized that her classmates were cowards and selfish people who were afraid of helping acquaintances or friends in need in front of someone they feared or respected. This reminds her of her personality. She was a selfish human too. She doesn't care about what's happening around her, pretending that she didn't see anything and turning a blind eye to continue her personal affairs. And now, she knows how it feels to be ignored. Though she was betrayed by them, she didn't resent them that much. All she felt was a sense of hopelessness and regret.

     I... can't breathe...

Reika finally stopped her struggle to escape from the goddess's grasp. As she felt hopeless in her situation, darkness slowly filled her vision. She felt that she was losing her consciousness while her heartbeat started to slow down. Afterwards, she felt that she was drowning, engulfed by the cold, dark, and deep lake, along with the extreme pain that she felt around her neck. As the voice of the goddess began to fade from her ear, she let the dark water swallow her to the depths.

Suddenly, the tightness in her neck started to loosen up. She began to breathe deeply as she felt her body was floating up from the depths of the cold, dark, and deep lake. As she felt that her body was dropped by someone, she saw a dark, shadowy figure appear on her front as the shadow covered the bright light coming from her back while she was sitting on the ground. It was the goddess, Shera.

"I don't want blood to be shed in my beautiful palace any further, so I'll give you a chance. I'll drop you somewhere so you'll die in peace. "

While Reika was wiping her tears from her cheeks, the goddess stood in front of the entire Class 1-A.

"So you plebeians, work your ass so that you'll be deemed worthy in front of me, okay? "

The students, who were afraid of the goddess, quietly nodded their heads. After a moment of silence, a monotonous voice spoke from behind the goddess.

     "Yes"

Shera turned her head towards the person who was speaking behind her. The voice came from the other student, who also had the same problem as Reika.

"Oh, so you must be Soru! You're so quiet that I forgot you were here in the first place... "

Shera walked closely towards Soru, while curiously observing him. The goddess wondered why Soru didn't utter a word, even once, nor show any reaction or emotion at all.

"Hmm... I can't sense any emotion emnating from your soul. Even you've seen your classmates dying, and this fellow, who almost choked to death by my hands..."

All sentient beings have emotions. The 7 emotions: Joy (Happiness), Anger, Grief (Sorrow), Worry, Fear, Thinking (Sentiment), and Shock, are the fundamental emotions that are closely linked to the soul. Even a person who can act a poker face in front of others, their inner emotions, would radiate out from their souls. To the goddess, like Shera, reading someone's inner emotions is an easy feat for them. Those who are capable of distinguishing the inner emotions of an entity, even a slight of killing intent, which is rooted in the emotion of anger, would be known by the goddess like Shera herself.

Shera circled Soru slowly, but still Soru didn't flinched, nor responded to the goddess's strange behavior at all. After some time, the goddess stood in front of him.

"Well, there are some rare instances when outrealmers like you have a slight soul dissonance as you're transcending to higher realms. It's a defense mechanism that your soul uses in order to protect your spiritual body. By locking your innate emotions, your soul will enter a deep sleep as you pass through the boundaries of the two realms. Only then will you be able to safely transcend to a higher realm without being rejected by the realm itself. "

The goddess breathed a deep sigh.

"Well, my palace is situated between the boundaries of the 4th and 5th Realm, and it's to be expected. Those who have soul dissonance, though they can survive here, indicate that they possess weaker spiritual power than the average human, and they are easily killed by spiritual attacks... "

Still, Soru didn't respond to the goddess at all. Shera caressed Soru's face as she glinted her eyes. Shera's hand was so smooth as it slid down to Soru's face.

"Okay, I'll exile you from my palace. Good luck on surviving the fall from a high altitude! "

     SNAP!

Shera snapped her fingers while looking at Reika and Soru. The snap echoed the entire palace.

"May fate decide your survival. But given the current situation, even the heavens won't save you anyway. It's not my problem, though. HAHAHAHAHA! "

Reika, wondering what was going to happen to her, along with her classmate Soru, who seemed to not care about his situation at all, slowly felt that they were permeating through the soft floor.

She tried to feel the ground using her hands, but she felt that there was nothing below her, only the thick fog that was slowly swallowing her entire body, along with Soru.

As Reika looked back to her classmates, she saw that no one was looking at them. Some others tried to peek, but their other classmates scolded them and made them face the goddess, who teleported back to her throne as if nothing had happened in the first place.

As they were slowly descending, the thick fog completely swallowed her entire body. Reika clenched her fists and bit her lips. Blood was oozing out from the part where he bit her lips.

Even though my chances of surviving this fall are very low, once I survive, I'll make sure to take revenge on that shitty goddess. This cursed world, where I didn't even wish to be teleported here, I just wanted a peaceful life on Earth! And now we're here, and she's found out that we're not useful to her. She discarded us like a broken puppet. I'll do anything, even if I have to become the devil itself, in order to exact my revenge...

As anger flooded Reika's mind, she didn't realize that they were already free falling from the sky. As she looked around the surroundings, she found out she was not in the palace anymore. The bright rays from the sun, along with the light-blue sky with the thick clouds that were scattered around, the strong breeze of the air as it fell from the sky, and the vast horizon, with green scenery and forests as far as her eyes could see, filled her mind with tranquility. For a moment, she forgot the anger she felt before, and instead was stunned by the beauty of the new world. As she was looking around, she realized that any moment now, they would land on hard ground.

She thought of a way to survive the fall. As she looked down at what place she would fall, she saw a vast, thick, green forest. She planned that she would land on the trees to lessen the impact and damage caused by the fall from a high altitude. After some time, she realized that she was not the only one who was exiled, but also his classmate, Soru. She told him her plan.

"Soru, after you've seen a clear view of the forest below us, look for a tree to land on. Maybe we'll survive the fall... "

Soru, with a calm expression on his face, looked towards Reika.

     "Sure..."

Reika ignored Soru's words, as she was focusing on which tree she'd land on. As she was choosing a tree to land on, as they drew closer to the ground, she spotted something on the ground.

Reika saw a large, lizard-like animal, along with a wolf-like beasts, scattered around the large lizard-like beast. It wasn't visible when Reika was far from the forest's ground, but as they were getting closer and closer to the ground, she saw these beasts more clearly than before. Witnessing these strange animals, Reika began to panic.

"W-what was that? What are those things? H-hey Soru, are you seeing those strange creatures? "

Soru responded to Reika as he looked below their feet. Soru saw a large lizard-like monster along with a pack of wolf-like creatures. After he saw those creatures, Soru nodded at her.

While Reika was distracted, she didn't know that they were falling faster and faster to the ground. As Reika forgot where to land due to the bizarre creatures on the ground, she realized that they would get hit on the hard ground, and they had no time to react any further or choose a tree to land on. Knowing that it'd be their end, Reika slowly closed her eyes.

So this is the end for me... My revenge. I barely even started... And yet--

She thought what her state would look like when she died from the long fall. She thought that she would be lying on the ground as her entire guts, flesh, and body were splattered like a balloon filled with water and dropped to the ground. As the strange-looking beasts were curious, and later on, one by one, they would feed themselves from her scattered flesh. She thought it was a painless death. But something feels off.

She felt the warm rays of the sun as a strong stench of odor covered her entire nose, making her sense of smell go haywire. As she was about to puke due to the strong stench, she realized that she wasn't dead. She suddenly opened her eyes, and she saw Soru reaching his right hand out towards her.

     "Stand up."

She's left wondering why she's not dead and survived, and why there's a strong stench that covered her sense of smell, along with the other questions left unanswered. She took Soru's hand and tried to stand up.

     "Thank youuughhhhh- Bleurgh"

Reika suddenly puked in front of Soru. She couldn't stand the smell anymore. She barfed and barfed for minutes.

As she slowly gained her composure and wiped her mouth, she looked around her body. She has no injuries at all, neither did Soru. Only the weird, purple liquid, where the strong stench originated from covered their bodies. She looked around the surroundings afterwards, and she found a gruesome situation.

The large, lizard-like beast, were splattered down, as if they were being pressed down by a strong force. Their guts were scattered around the area. The other small wolf-like creatures were splattered so hard to the point that they were unrecognizable. Only their gray furs were left intact, so Reika recognized their identities.

As Reika was stunned by the situation, she saw Soru quietly gazing at the splattered creatures. After a while, she realized something. Soru feels different from before.

The Shin Soru before they're being summoned, who acts like a clumsy and loud person, the Soru who was being interrogated by the goddess, who has an emotionless and monotone person, and the Soru that was standing in front of her, who acts like a calm person. She felt that there was something off with him.

Reika approached Soru and stood behind him.

     "Are you... Shin Soru?"
