Is that what she meant by going? I murmured as I descended the stairs of the apartment. I had set my expectations too high for Harper’s question. Of course, I couldn’t sleep with a woman I met in one day. That’s not how things work in the real world. Even being able to kiss was a feat.

“Where are we going? Harper?” She didn’t respond at all to the questions I asked to get a reaction from her.

After that passionate kiss in the kitchen, Harper’s entire attitude towards me changed. She hadn’t said a word since we left the house.

Ugh, I wonder what she was thinking? Couldn’t I just look at it with that fucking skill? How was it working? While I was pondering all this, a familiar screen appeared in front of me.

[Character Display]

Name: Harper Braun

Age: 22

Trait: Headstrong

Preference: Reliable man (Can only get close to men she finds reliable)

Fetish: Vanilla (Prefers loving sex full of romance)

The like had skyrocketed to 70. Then why was she acting cold towards me? 70 was a pretty high number. Could it be because she was confused? Maybe I went too far. I didn’t even know if she had a boyfriend.

“This way,” Harper said coldly, turning to the right and walking without looking back.

Without breaking the silence, I also stuck behind her. Anyway, I had no intention of distracting myself by talking in this dangerous place where it is unknown where and when the zombie will come out. As I walked along, looking around, I kept one eye on Harper all the time.

What was she thinking? Have I gone too far? Although she was the one who started the kiss, I just took the opportunity presented to me. After all, no one could say no to a kiss from such a beautiful woman. But I still wondered if I was playing with the feelings of this innocent woman. The last thing I wanted was to hurt people with good intentions. As for the bad guys, they weren’t worth as much as shit in my eyes.

I turned my head to the mountainous area on the horizon. Chroma College was right there, waiting for me there with all my enemies, unaware of everything.

Yes, that was my goal from the very beginning. Harper was just a detour on my path to revenge. I couldn’t waste any more time with her here. And I didn’t have the luxury of acting like a young teenager who had tasted their first love. The old world was over. There was a new order now, an order in which the strong would win. As the apostle of Amora, I had to move forward and become stronger quickly.

When I got to the top, maybe then I might have had the luxury of experiencing love, but now was the time to be ruthless. My demeanor, which had softened in my time with Harper, had returned to its former firmness. I could feel it.

In my current state, just like yesterday, I could crush those punks like a bug.

With renewed faith and sharp pain in my leg, I continued on my way in silence. My goal was set.

After we had gone on like this for a while, the police station Harper mentioned appeared across the street. We had come to a crossroads. I was about to leave this cute little seaside town called Harper, which I arrived at by deviating from the path of revenge.

Harper’s steps slowed to a halt as we approached the station. For a while, we stood in silence, she in front and I in the back, without looking at each other. Then she turned to me and opened her mouth to say something.

But I clung to her lips without giving her this opportunity. The kiss was short but fierce. When our lips parted again, I looked at Harper with all seriousness.

“We’ve come to a crossroads, Harper. I don’t know if our paths will cross again, but take care of yourself.” I turned my back on her and continued on my way. It was the best thing for both of us.

When I got far enough away from her, I whispered, “because this world needs good people like you… so don’t die.”

This world needed good people like you, even in the apocalypse. Goodbye Harper, this full day spent with you was more meaningful than I shared with most people. I hope you manage to survive in this new order.

Maybe I couldn’t say those words to his face, but at least I mumbled them inside.

I grinned mischievously at the cold metal left over from the Harper in my hand.

“Thanks for the gift, Harper, although you didn’t realize it.”
