“Good morning.”
When I opened my eyes, I found Harper watching me from a distance. She was sitting on the table by the window, fumes rising from her mug, which she gripped tightly with both hands. The smell of coffee permeated the entire room.
When I looked at where I was lying, I noticed that my side was messy. We probably slept in the same bed. Of course, I slept too deeply to notice this.
“Damn, I missed my opportunity,” I grumbled.
“Hmm? What opportunity?” Harper looked at me curiously.
“Oh, it’s no big deal. By the way, good morning to you too,” I said, forcibly getting out of bed. The pain in my leg had lessened considerably, but when I stepped on the ground, the wound reminded me of its existence.
“I’ve saved coffee for you, too. You can get it from the kitchen.”
”Thank you,” I said and went on a brief trip to find the toilet in the house.
I didn’t have time to check the house in the turmoil yesterday, but it looked like an ordinary house. The only thing missing was that the owner was not inside. It worked for us, though, because I didn’t think we would stand up to someone in our pathetic state yesterday.
I washed my hands and took my coffee from the kitchen and went back to the kitchen. I sat across from Harper with heavy movements, without straining my leg too much.
A deep silence filled the room. We continued to consume the hot liquid in our glasses in silence for a while. I looked out the window, watching the street. Yesterday’s zombie crowd seemed to have dispersed.
Harper was the first to break the silence.
“By the way, I never asked, but why did you save me? It’s not for everyone to stand up to 3 people. Why did you do that?”
For a while, I watched this young but beautiful cop in front of me in silence. Yes, she was as beautiful as yesterday. I pondered for a while whether my interest in her was because of the powers that Amora gave me or because of my own preferences, but I could not decide. She was a beautiful girl! What was the need to question it?
“I’ll be clear. When I first heard your scream, I had no intention of helping. Out of the paranoia of being left to die for helping a woman the same day, I had no intention of helping anyone else.”
“Oh.” Harper’s face fell. She stood in silence for a moment with her head bowed, then asked, “Then why? What made you change your mind?”
“The first time I walked into that building was to shut you guys’ mouths. Because of your noise, the zombies were moving and blocking my way. Of course, things didn’t progress as I expected when I entered the building,” I said and took a big sip from the coffee to catch my breath.
“Seeing you so desperate... Your courage against those bastards and your determination to take your own life to protect your honor made me admire you. Taking your own life... is not something that anyone can do.“ I looked into Harper’s eyes and said, “You’re a brave woman, Harper.”
We exchanged silent glances with Harper for a while. She was probably trying to absorb my words, for she was deep in thought. I continued to look out the window while sipping my coffee. The rising sun filled me with peace.

“Thank you… for your courage,” she whispered, her head still bowed.
“It’s okay, but you owe me a kiss,” I jokingly tried to cheer things up.
Thud*
The sound of a coffee cup hitting the table startled me. Suddenly, Harper clung to my lips. Although I was stunned for a moment by the sudden kiss, I responded to her kiss. I had no intention of leaving these lips without tasting them.
Mmh* Slurp*
For a while, only our kissing sounds echoed in the room. From the first moment our lips touched, they were clamped together like a magnet. Although at first, I was content with sucking on her lips, later I tried to occupy her mouth with my tongue. I wanted more. I madly wanted to meet that sweet tongue of hers.
When I unlocked her lips and my tongue joined hers, I felt Harper pause for a moment. She was hesitating, but I didn’t give her the opportunity to withdraw and increased the intensity of the kiss even more.
The bitter but intense taste of the coffee we had just drunk had become the main menu of this fiery moment, and the feminine scent of Harper mixed with the accumulated sweat from yesterday’s turmoil entered my nose. This smell made me more aroused. It almost had an aphrodisiac effect on my body.
Even though I wanted to wrap both my hands around him, the table between us prevented us from going any further. Our passionate kiss continued for a while. In the end, both of us had to give up and retreat with breathlessness and fatigue from standing on tiptoe.
Pant* Pant*
Our breathing sounds that echoed in the room had a unique rhythm. Looking at Harper’s messy hair and blushed face, I could see deep desire mixed with shame in her eyes. She wanted me right now, with all her being.
I don’t know how I could notice these details, but since my encounter with Amora, I could distinguish some details better.
We watched each other in silence for a while, waiting to recover our breath. What was next? Were we going to go all the way? Could I have this beautiful woman here right now? Even the thought of it made butterflies fly in my stomach. I wanted to break the silence this time. I had to ask her.
Before I could say, “Harper, should we-” she suddenly stood up and said to me;
“Shall we go?”
I guess that time has come.
