Chapter 205 - “This is what you are feeding her?” (1)
“Okay, right this way.” Su Ran forced herself to say that.
Su Ran thought she noticed a smile in Lu Shao’s eyes but she felt that she must have been mistaken.
Su Ran, walking in the front, watched her steps carefully as she walked. Lu, on the other hand, followed behind her.
The stairways of these traditional buildings seemed to be crammed for someone of Lu Shao’s height but he didn’t seem to be bothered by that. He only walked behind Su Ran quietly and in a protective manner.
Luckily, it was almost dinner time when they got home and most of the neighbors were busying with cooking in their own apartments and not very many of them were outside.
Otherwise, had they seen the two of the together, Lord only knew how many cliché and bizarre versions of the story would be passed around.
“This is it.” Su Ran brought the person behind her to her front door.
The front door was brand new after the old one was smashed by the debt collectors. Su Han had left the door open for Su Ran and even had her slippers readied for her.
Hearing footsteps at the door, Su Han walked over.
“Why did you talk to that guy for so….” Su Han was griping when he suddenly noticed Lu Shao standing behind Su Ran and his eyes widened immediately.
“Who said you can come up?!” said Su Han as he looked at Lu Shao angrily and asked sternly and incredulously.
Mr. Lu seemed to be in a fairly good mood right now and didn’t care about the angry look coming from Su Han. He merely gave Su Han a cold look.
“What do you think?” He asked monotonously. His look almost provoking.
“Mom, why did you let a stranger come to our door?” asked Su Han, displeased. He was somewhat disappointed in her.
Was this woman foolish? It was so late already. How could she let a man that they barely knew and with ulterior motive into their house? Did she not have any sense of danger?
Su Ran was oblivious to the screaming in Su Han’s mind.
Had she known, she would for sure have told him: Son, do you think you are worrying a bit much for a thirteen year old?
That being said, looking at the accusing look on her son, Su Ran felt an inexplicable guilty conscience.

She merely extended the offer just to be polite. She really hadn’t expected this outcome at all!
“Ahem, Su Han. He’s a guest. Don’t be rude.” On the front, she still put up the “front” as a parent. After she had said that, she paused for a little, then added, “Oh yeah, do we have more slippers at home? I remember that we have bought winter slippers last week and placed them under your bed. Go take a look and bring a pair out.”
“No, we didn’t. I can’t find them,” said Su Han bluntly.
They bought a total of two pairs of slippers last week and he hadn’t even worn them yet. Why should he offer it to this man first?
“Ugh, pardon me.” Judging from Su Han’s wouldn’t-even-give-in-even-with-violencelook, Su Ran smiled apologetically at Lu Shao and said, “Why don’t you just wear your shoes in?”
As soon as she had finished saying that, a pair of winter cotton slippers came flying out from the bedroom.
Su Ran: Oh hoho, judging from the I-don’t-want-it-anymore look, she felt that she would be buying another pair of slippers for her son.
“Thank you.” Lu Shao didn’t care that this was a pair of winter slippers and walked inside of the apartment after Su Ran.
“Ugh, our apartment is on the small side,” said Su Ran.
You should just stand around for a little bit as a formality and take off.
Who knew, as soon as Su Ran had said that, Lu Shao gave her a meaningful look.
“I’m sorry,” said Lu Shao to Su Ran very seriously.
Lu Shao could see almost the entire place the moment he walked inside of it.
It was a very small-one bedroom apartment but it was kept very clean.
Nevertheless, along with the cleanliness was age and crudeness that was beyond Lu Shao’s imagination.
Judging from this apartment alone, he could tell that the mother and son had some tough years.
Lu Shao felt that this was his fault.
Had he not left immediately front the hotel or had he paid even just a little bit more of attention to the woman inside the room, would all this had been different?
And he wouldn’t have been away from them all these years.
