Chapter 8: Chapter 8- Fake Detective

Now, this is a serious point. Did Kenny and Mr. John hire another detective? I needed to know. So I dial Kenny's number. 

"Hello, Mr. Arthur." A girl picked up the phone and replied. Just hearing the voice, you can tell she is Kenny. 

"Hello, Ms. Kenny. Sorry, but I quickly needed to know something. If you don't have any problem," I told her this. 

"Sure, Mr. Arthur. I don't have any problem. You can ask freely." She replied.

"The question is Miss Kenny, did you hire any other detective in the case besides me?" I asked her. 

" Hmmm…. Why are you saying this, Mr. Arthur? Besides, we only told you about the case." She quickly explained this to me. 

" Okay. Thank you, Miss Kenny, for the answer, and I will later tell you about this." With that, I cut the call. Now the question is, if Kenny did not hire any other detective, then who was the person who had previously come here for investigation? 

I don't think that person was from the police department. Because the police department wouldn't start an investigation if the victim didn't file a case. 

I bounced back to the uncle's shop.

"Uncle, the detective you mentioned that came here before me for investigation, did you have his picture, or can you describe his face?" I quickly asked the shop uncle. 

" Haha…… Don't worry, boy. Previously, the detective entered my shop like you, and because of this, I got his picture. See, there I have a CCTV camera in my shop," the uncle said proudly while pointing his finger toward the CCTV.  

Seeing the CCTV camera, I also sighed in relief. Finally, I can get some clues from that CCTV camera about this fake detective. 

"Uncle, can I see the footage? You don't know, but it will be very helpful to me." I asked sincerely. Now that I don't have a clue about this fake detective, I need to see the footage. 

"Sure why not? If it will help you in your case, then why not? But tell me, son, why do you want to see the footage?" The uncle asked me with a questionable gaze. It was normal for my uncle to become confused about this.

" Uncle, the detective mentioned who came here previously wasn't a real detective. The girl yesterday who got attacked today came to me and gave me this case. So when you mentioned the detective, I quickly called her. She told me she only hired me and didn't tell anyone about this," I explained the situation to him.

" OMG!!!!!!! A fake detective!!! " Hearing that the previous detective was a fake detective uncle exclaimed with a shocked expression. 

"Yes, because of this I asked you about his face," I said to him.

" Uncle, did you see the face of this detective? Or anything weird about him?" I asked him.

" Umm… let me think." The uncle said, and he thought. I didn't disturb him at this moment. 

"Umm…. Actually, I didn't see his face clearly because he was wearing sunglasses and a mask. But I saw something weird about him. When he entered the shop, he was always looking around, trying to find something. Even when he asked me questions, his focus wasn't on me. Also, I think I saw a bandage on his right cheek." The uncle said after a deep thought.

As you can guess, I am using my lie detector skill. The uncle didn't tell me any lies; he was telling me the truth. 

With that, uncle let me come in front of the computer to check the CCTV camera footage. He quickly played the footage.

In the footage, I can see that what uncle said was true. This person, after entering the shop, observed his surroundings. Even when he was asking the questions, his focus wasn't on the uncle. As the shop uncle said, it is a very odd thing. Also, this person was wearing sunglasses and a mask. Because of this, we aren't able to see his face clearly. 

Uncle zoomed in on the photo. Finally, I can see that this previous detective really had a bandage on his right cheek. Even when he was wearing a mask, I could see the bandage. 

"Uncle, I need a copy of this footage," I said to the uncle. He quickly sent me a copy of the footage. 

"Thank you, uncle. Thank you very much," I sincerely said to the uncle and left the shop. 

Now I don't think I will be fine even after asking this other shop owner. So I decided to go back home because I am feeling hungry. 

I looked at the time. It was 1:00 p.m. So, because of this, I am feeling hungry. I didn't even realize the time. Again, I entered the alleyway and began going towards the Tanvi colony. 

Some minutes later, I could see the exit, but then suddenly I saw a person who was also in the alleyway. I am still pretty far away from those guys. I can see this guy has something in his hand. 

"Hey!!!!!! Who are you? What are you doing here?" Suddenly, I shouted at him. 

Don't know what happened, but that guy got scared and the thing in his fell to the ground. He began to run toward the exit.

Seeing this, I also didn't stay ideal and rushed. But because I am pretty far away, I wasn't able to catch the enemy. When I exited the alleyway, the enemy was already gone. I quickly go toward the old man, who has a grocery store. 

"Grandpa, did you see anyone that a few minutes ago came from the alleyway?" I quickly asked the old man.

" Hmm…. It is you, boy. Yes, just 2 minutes ago, I saw a person come out of this alleyway and went toward the waste plaza." The old man told me.

" Sigh," I sighed. I don't think that right now if I go to the west plaza, I will find that person. 

With a dejected look, I went toward the alleyway. I need to know what the person drops on the ground.
