A pale old man could be seen lying on the ground, appearing to be barely breathing. He was missing a leg and could barely contain himself from passing out. However, he held on, for he knew that closing his eyes meant death.
Little did the old man know that his fate had already been sealed.
A human figure stood behind him, hidden in the darkness of the shadows. He wore a mask that covered his entire face, revealing only dark, greasy hair that fell onto his shoulders. Silently, like the passing wind, Blake stretched his hand and grabbed the prisoner by his head.
"Wha--!" The old prisoner could barely produce a sound as he felt a hand covering his mouth. Blake wasn't really a fan of causing suffering to his victims, so he grabbed the short axe from the ground and made a clean cut on his neck.
The man struggled for a few more seconds, but eventually, his eyes rolled backward and Blake gently placed him on the ground. A screen popped up in his vision and he felt a surge of power descend upon his body.

Blake smiled. His guess had been correct. Killing others truly increased his experience, and the result...was exhilarating. He felt power like never before surging through his veins, and it was like he could explode at any moment.
His entire life had been spent on becoming more powerful, yet one death of some prisoner brought him this much power. It was a bit addicting. Calming down, Blake glanced down at the man's body, not a single emotion in his eyes.
Death had long ago lost its meaning in Blake's eyes, and he wasn't even that afraid of it anymore. However, not being scared of it didn't mean he would welcome it. If killing a few people would strengthen him, then he didn't see what was wrong with doing so.
Taking the axe he had stolen from this man into his hand, Blake once again disappeared into the shadows, noting that the weapon had stayed with him. He didn't exactly understand how it worked, but his mood still turned better.
'Since my guess was correct, I don't see the point of remaining in this prison anymore.' Blake thought, silently moving through the shadows towards yet another cell. He specifically chose prisoners with life-threatening injuries, so that there would be as little resistance as possible.
Soon, he appeared next to another man, and with a slash of his axe, another body fell. A screen popped up in his vision, followed by the addicting feeling of power entering his body.
He didn't stop there as he moved towards another cell, searching for vulnerable prey. Some people would think that killing people like that was senseless, as once Cisco came back, he would notice the change and raise an emergency.
However, Blake had a simple goal in his mind. Reaching level 10. He didn't know how, but he clearly felt that reaching this milestone would let him unlock yet another skill, something that could serve as a complete game-changer.

Furthermore, if everything went according to Blake's plan, it wouldn't matter whether Cisco saw so many prisoners killed. Blake continued his killing spree with a slight smile beneath his mask.
Throughout this time, not a single sound echoed through the prison.

Cisco kicked the door leading underground, walking forth without a hint of what was happening inside. In his hands, he held several packages of frozen food, which were stained in mud.
'That bastard has probably woken up already.' Cisco thought as he walked down towards the prison, frowning. That newcomer didn't not only embarrass him in front of Ogami, deeming all his sucking up useless but he was also chosen to be nurtured.
If he survived, he would become a soldier within Orochimaru's legion and perhaps even gain the curse mark, something that he strived to get. He had seen Ogami in action once and understood the power that came with Orochimaru's blessing.
'I should have known that bastard was no good news. If only I left him to die in that forest...' Cisco sighed, throwing packaged food into the cells. He was so immersed in his thoughts that he didn't see how some prisoners weren't picking up the food, something that was a complete contrast to their usual behavior.
Finally, he reached Blake's cell, no more food in his hands. However, Cisco couldn't see anyone in the cell as wrinkles spread across his forehead. Then, the smell of blood flooded his nose, and he grabbed the kunai from beneath his sleeve, looking around like a wild beast.
"Why are you being so tense?"
Cisco heard a voice coming from the cell as Blake walked out from the shadows. His mask, clothes, and axe were covered in warm blood, making him look some kind of psycho.
Cisco reluctantly stepped back, not expecting to see a sight like this. "What the hell did you do?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of feat.
"Cisco...what matters is not what I did..." Blake walked forth, raising his axe above his head as he disappeared from the spot. Cisco's eyes sprung wide open, then he felt Blake's figure reappear just behind him.
"But what I am going to do," Blake whispered into the man's ear, shadows from beneath stretching out as they collided with Blake's left hand. Instincts kicking in, Cisco turned around immediately, putting his hands up in anticipation of an incoming attack.
However, it came with much more force than anticipated.
Blake's hand, which was now fully coated in darkness, collided with Cisco's face, avoiding his ineffective defense. The power that exploded from his hand was enough to immediately knock Cisco unconscious.
"This...was much easier than expected. Did I perhaps grow too strong?" Blake said, glancing down at his hand. This was the new skill he had gained, which let him coat a certain body part in the shadows. Consequently, it served as a boost in power or defense.
Thankfully, the requirement for unlocking the skill had already been completed, which was to kill a human in one clean strike. Nothing too difficult, pathetic compared to the previous condition.
Blake grabbed the hurdle of keys from Cisco's belt. Then, he grabbed Cisco by the collar and threw him inside the cell. Of course, Blake also didn't forget to kick him a few times in his stomach, simply because he didn't like him.
