Chapter 8: Zabuza part 2 and Rita’s past

Author here.  I decided to change up how the rasengan is.  For example, rather than it being Fire style: Flaming Rasengan, I would have it be Rasengan: Fire style: Flaming Rasengan.  And for when it’s using bijuu chakra, the number at the end tells you which tailed beast’s chakra was used.  For example, 10 would mean that they used the chakra of the juubi, while 1 would mean they used the chakra of Shukaku.  This system is only to prevent confusion, and won’t have a massive impact on the story for a while.  I find the rasengan being too useful for it not to be disseminated among the shinobi population eventually.  So it will be, but not for a long time.

*Everything Zabuza says until Haku arrives is said in his head*

What is with that insane number of shadow clones?!?!  There’s so many of them that it feels like he summoned the entirety of the population of the land of fire!  How is that fireball jutsu that big?!  Why do I get the feeling that I’m done for if I’m hit by that unassuming ball of chakra that fox created?  And why is Kakashi using his chidori already!?  Seriously, I know I’m a threat to them, but I’m not a big enough threat that they need to do this to me!  I HAVE to have Haku pull me out now, or else I will die!(Z)

*Zabuza then barely dodges the fox’s attack, only to see the river vanish and a 10 foot deep spherical crater take its place.  He then has to hastily doge the massive fireball with a 10 foot radius, and right as he lands he gets surrounded by shadow clones, and nearly hit with a chidori from below.*

*3 minutes later*

I have been dodging attacks and defeating shadow clones for 3 minutes now, when will Haku-(Z)

*Right as he thinks that, a senbon comes flying out of the woods and hits Zabuza in the neck.*

Another enemy?(R)

Thank you for stalling Zabuza.  I have been hunting him for a while now.(?)

A hunter-nin.  Not an enemy.  Hunter-nin track down missing-nin from the village the hunter-nin comes from and tries to eliminate them, and destroy the body to prevent others from learning village secrets from the shinobi’s dead body.(K)

*5 minutes after the hunter-nin leaves, and they have continued moving*

Something doesn’t feel right about that whole thing.(N)

Yeah.  I find how she killed Zabuza with a senbon suspicious.  I know that there are some spots in the neck that allow for the incapacitation of a subject without killing them, if you are precise enough.  One of the medics used it on me once.  With a senbon too…  Hey Kakashi, I don’t think she was a hunter-nin.  I think Zabuza is still alive, and that hunter-nin was his ally.(R)

*Kakashi suddenly stops*

Urgh.  You’re right.  *Sigh*  How did our first C-rank mission become an A-rank mission?(K)

We’re not turning back.  We were way too powerful for the mission anyways, now it’s a bit more of an even playing field.  Although it’s still a bit stacked in our favor.(R)

Just be glad it didn’t become an S-rank mission.  Even with you and Rita here I doubt that we would be able to complete the mission, Kakashi-sensei.(N)

Oh, and Naruto, if Itachi appears, I want you to save the idiot’s life by knocking him out and running with Sakura while carrying him.  After all, he would probably try to attack Itachi, and that’s essentially a death sentence for anyone here besides me and Kakashi.  And it wouldn’t be a death sentence for me only because I’m a bijuu.  We are literally just masses of chakra.  As long as our soul isn’t gone, we will come back eventually.  And Kakashi is strong enough to fight him.(R)

Why did you call me an idiot dumb fox?  I didn’t even see you in the academy.(Sasuke)

That’s because I couldn’t have attended it, even if I had wanted to.  Hell, I was only allowed in the classroom that day because Iruka was already told to let me stay by Hiruzen.  I’m a fox, not a human.  I would have never been freely allowed to go, and even if I was, I was a bit busy trying to not die.  Whether it was malnutrition, severe injuries, starvation, illness, being tortured, or simply the fact that I’m not human and never will be able to pass for one, I COULDN’T HAVE ATTENDED!  I’m trying to save your life because of how nice Itachi was to me.  I’m trying to repay his kindness by keeping his brother, who was one of the only two people he truly cared about from the depths of his soul, from getting himself killed.  So SHUT UP about things that you have no clue about Sasuke.  You know NOTHING about how others have suffered.  Be glad your trauma was merely psychological, and that you have been loved by the people around you for most of your life, rather than hated by basically everyone from the start.  Naruto knows what that’s like.  We have always been hated.  Honestly, Konoha should be glad that Naruto turned out the way he did, and that he’s so happy-go-lucky.  Because the other option was for him to hate all of Konoha with all his heart.  Had that happened, there was nothing stopping him from completely erasing Konoha off the face of the world.(R)

*at this outburst from Rita, everyone goes silent*

What?  What does she mean Itachi cared about me?  I’m always smiled at, though I am no hero because I haven’t killed Itachi yet, and yet she, who hasn’t done anything wrong is tortured, beaten, and hated?  Why?(Sasuke)

It’s worse than I thought…(K)

I…At first I hated her and Naruto, now I just feel bad for them, and like Konoha has deeply wronged them on a fundamental level.(Sakura)

She’s like me.  Why was she tortured?  Why…(N)

(End of thoughts)
