{ From the Sky }

I patted my mattress with a puff as I laid and looked above.

The sky was especially clear today.

Thanks to that, I had the chance to sleep in our attic, having a window towards the sky.

My grandfather was a scientist, or rather, a cosmologist.

No, not a cosmetologist, that's for makeup and stuff. He focused on space, and planets, and black holes.

...And a lot more which I can't remember right now.

Sometimes I think our interests may be genetically inherited or I don't know what, but it seemed I'd taken on his curiosity of space.

It seemed I wouldn't be able to sleep today, either, cause I kept imagining things with the stars, like constellations.

Oh!

A triangle!

No, that's actually quite boring...

I covered my eyes with my hand.

I should really sleep.

The fact that it's Sunday is really bothering me.

I unveiled my vision.

If I'd been a few seconds too late, I'd have missed it.

A shooting star!

It was so bright and it's trail was short but beautiful.

I needed to make a wish.

Think!

I wish... I wish I had a...

Telescope!

I really want one in my attic. It'll be so co-, helpful.

Before I knew it, it flashed white.

Everything shook.

That night, I heard an explosion in front of our house...

I'm kidding, it's not a time skip.

Half of me wanted to get up, but half of me was inherently scared witless.

My parents would've heard that, and they'd do the panicking.

And, I mean... I'm not dead, am I?

A chill ran through my spine.

It was oddly quiet.

Too quiet; that my deep breathing could be heard to calm my previous shock.

Do I check it out?

Or, not?

What if it's dangerous?

I mean, what could a 12 year old do in such a situation...

The thought finally crossed my mind.

What if nobody else heard?

It was too quiet.

I got up and wore my slippers, trying to not make a sound, as I stepped down the dark hallways of our house.

A few meters from our doorstep was a crater the size of my dining table.

My eyes widened, and I felt as if I'd seen God, Himself.

The crater itself, was luminescent, haunting it's previous show of it's destruction.

A single box remained through all the ruins.

And that's... how I met your mother.
