“Master, this is Eminia. A world in the Underworlds.”

The black smoke dissipates as soon as you pass through the gate.

“Woaaah!” you gasp. “This place is scary nya!”

You were expecting a place for practicing necromancy to be spooky and scary. Probably a place filled with ghosts and skeletons and zombies. A graveyard maybe?

However, this is different.

It’s… empty. The world is just… scarily empty. Standing on the ground and looking around, it feels like this entire world is just divided by two simple parts: the ground and the space above it. It’s just flat ground. No mountain, no hill, just a flat surface. There is also no building, no trees, nor animals in sight.

Turning your head around, your view expands infinitely towards the horizon.

You look down, the ground is black.

You look up, the sky is also black, just a bit of a lighter shade of black.

It’s so flat and empty to the point that you even imagine if you somehow place yourself upside down, the whole world will still look the same.

“There’s… nothing here nya…”

And that applies to sound too. It is dead silence that you can even hear your own breathing and heartbeat being intensified.

“Wait. You can see?”

Yukumo suddenly says with a voice full of surprise.

“Of course!” You reply. “What do you mean? I can see everything clearly! Cats can see in darkness nya?”

“Hmmm…” Mimi flies very close to examine your face. “Yep, Archangel Eye is working!”

“Eh? What does the Eye of Azrael have anything to do with this nya?” you ask.

Maybe, it can make you see even better in darkness?

“Master,” Yukumo fluffs your hair. “Cat eyes are just extremely sensitive to light. But that means light is still needed. However, do you see any source of light here?”

“Nya?”

You quickly turn and take another look around.

Indeed! Just like Yukumo says, there is no source of light here!

Unlike previously, even when the sun is gone, the world is still illuminated by the red light coming from the giant crimson moon. But in Eminia, there is no sun nor moon. Not even stars. Only darkness here.

So, how can you see? Why is Mimi still visible and even in full color?

“Master, what you are seeing now, is a completely flat and black ground, correct?” Mimi asks.

“Nya!” You confirm.

“There is a big castle town far away ahead of us, and a mountain range to the right. Can you see them too?”

“Ah?” You squint your eyes to double check if you are missing anything. Nope! Nothing but the black ground and grey sky!

“No, there’s nothing here beside us nya!”

You can see yourself and the flying Mimi. But castle? Mountains? You have no idea what Mimi is talking about!

“I see… So that’s what The Eye can perceive. Master, since there is no light, you cannot see the physical dimension. Instead, what you are seeing is the spiritual dimension.” Mimi replies.

“Spiritual… dimension nya?”

“Yes, the spiritual dimension is like a still lake. Nothing is happening right now because no one is throwing rocks into it.”

“Nyah?” You scratch your head. “ By throwing rocks, you mean casting magic nya?”

“Yes.” Mimi replies. “Or live. You can see me, because I’m living!”

“What?” You gasp. “So that means there is no one else living in this world nya?”

“Correct.” Mimi says and opens a page. “We will get to that later. Master, place your hand on me please.”

“Oh. Okay nya.”

You don’t really know what Mimi is trying to do, but you still hold out your hand. You then place your palm onto her. The spiritual dimension sounds interesting so far. You wish Mimi will tell you more about it later.

The page glows. Mystical glyph symbols shine brightly.

“Master, I will now link my vision with yours. This can tickle a little bit.”

Hearing that, you want to pull your hand back. But it's too late!

“NyAh!”

Fortunately, it just feels like a small electrical current running from the book into your hand and then arm. No more hurt than a mosquito bite.

<Do you want to allow The Necronomicon to connect with your vision?>

Oh, it’s that voice again! You remember hearing it when you ate the Eye of Azrael. You have no idea what the voice is, but…

As you think, yes,

Poof!

Castle and mountains emerge!

“Woaaaaah!” You gasp, “So this is the real Eminia nya!”

On the black ground now appeared a really really big castle and a whole mountain range. You can also see some rocks lying around. There are some buildings nearby too. They are mostly small houses. However, they are all in their worst shape, with missing roofs, crumbled or cracked walls. Did something smash them or were they just abandoned and chipped away by time? You can’t really tell.

Even the castle ahead of you is in bad shape. Its main structure is already leaning toward the ground and it feels like the whole thing can collapse anytime soon.

And looking around, there are also clear signs of past rivers and lakes, which are now all dried up.

“Master, this is Dakon, or what used to be Dakon.” Mimi says.

“You know,” Yukumo also speaks. “Despite being in the realm of Underworlds, Eminia used to be such a nice and busy place. The people here held festivals every month. Everyone had fun together no matter who they were, or what race they belonged to. Demons, angels, humans... Master, Yukumo liked it a lot.”

Ahh, hearing that suddenly makes your heart ache a little bit. Perhaps, because you also feel the sadness in her shaking voice.

“So… no survival nya?”

“No.” Mimi answers.

You then take a moment of silence to look around and think for a bit. Looking at Eminia now, you can’t help but think about the state of every other world. There used to be millions of worlds, each with millions or even billions of innocent souls. But half of them have become like this? Worlds with no sunlight or any sign of living beings.

“Why… would the Lich Queen do this nya?”

What is her purpose?

And why can’t no one stop her yet?

However…

“It wasn’t her.” Yukumo suddenly says.

“Eh? Then who did this nya?”

But… Yukumo doesn’t answer. Even Mimi too. Instead, you just feel one of the ears on top of your head being grabbed a little bit tighter.

Is Yukumo alright? You wonder.

“Master, it’s a very long story.” Mimi then says. “We come here for you to practice magic, so let’s focus on that first.”

“Oh… okay nya.” you nod.

Mimi then flies towards a nearby rock and lands on it. Yukumo jumps down and sits on the rock next to it too.

“Okay, let’s start with the basics.” Mimi begins her first lesson. “Master, please use Create Lesser Skeleton!”

Oh, that’s the spell Mimi taught you yesterday!

It’s time to get practical!

So, you hold out your hands, and speak those words.

“Okay! Create Lesser Skeleton nya!”

The ground starts to rumble, but that’s only on the side of the physical dimension. Inside the spiritual dimension, something is coming, in the form of a ball of white light.
