"Dad!" Dominic called out as he ran to Miguel on the tarmac.
The adults couldn't help but laugh as the maids and bodyguards quickly ran after him, afraid that he would fall and hurt himself.
"It's okay, he'll be fine." Miguel waved at the staff for them to calm down as he caught the young boy and picked him up.
Despite Dominic being a little bit older than Yoyo he was barely heavier.
Miguel and Veronica had been focused on getting his health back on track and it seemed to be working.
"How was the airplane ride?" Miguel asked Dominic.
It wasn't the first time Dominic rode a plane, but it was the first time without his parents. When they first adopted Dominic, they would come to Kashmere as often as possible to get some family time away from work.
Unfortunately for Miguel, sometimes that work followed him to Kashmere in the form of more high profile clients.
"It was fun, but I missed you and mom. But Uncle Jonathan was fun too, we played games on the plane." Dominic told his adoptive father.
"Thank you for taking care of him." Miguel nodded to Jonathan who had just joined them, opting not to run after Dominic as he saw the number of people already chasing the boy.
"I love the kid, why wouldn't I?" Jonathan told Miguel as he gave him a sad smile.
Miguel simply nodded in response as he led Dominic to the waiting car.
"She's awake?" Jonathan asked Adrianna as they walked side by side to the second car.
She and Miguel had arranged it this way so that Adrianna could explain everything without the worry of Dominic being around.
"She is, but she's forgotten a lot." Adrianna admitted as a bodyguard opened the door of the car for them. "I think you being there will be good for her."
"I don't know, Adri." Jonathan said with a frown as the car drove off towards the hospital. "I'm afraid that we will just end up in a fight. Will you really tell her about Dominic?"
"She's your sister, maybe she'll listen to you." Adrianna said, having full confidence that Jonathan would be able to make more progress than she had. "As for Dominic, Miguel is willing to let her meet him if it's needed."
"If it's not?" Jonathan asked.
"When she is ready she will meet him. Miguel and Veronica had always wanted for Dominic to meet his birth mother. If things escalate today then their plans just need to be pulled forward." Adrianna calmly explained to Jonathan.
Jonathan silently nodded as he considered Adrianna's words.
"I don't want her to meet Dominic, I think it's a bad idea." He finally admitted. "My sister is unstable and that makes her danger to him."
"She's still his mother, Jonathan." Adrianna was surprised by Jonathan's words. Of all people she expected him to insist that his sister meet her son.
"I know, and trust me, I would love for my sister to meet her son, but I'm just worried for Dominic. His life is better than anything we could have ever given him." Jonathan sighed as he looked out the window.
This wasn't his first time on Kashmere Island, but it was his first time seeing this side of the island.
He couldn't help but marvel at the surroundings.
"I can't believe there really is a hospital here." He exclaimed as they drove up to the entrance.
"Miguel doesn't use it much, the only patients he takes here are those that can't be seen entering the hospital or those that need a certain level of peace and quiet." Adrianna explained as the guards opened the car doors for them.
"Are we going straight up to see her?" Jonathan asked as he looked around. "And where are Dr. Miguel and Dominic?"
"Yes, I'll take you straight to your sister. Miguel and Dominic went to Miguel's villa first where Veronica is waiting for them. They will settle him down first, we still don't know if he has to meet Julia." Adrianna explained. "Are you ready?"
"Can I have a cup of coffee first?" Jonathan requested.
"Fine, but you aren't avoiding this." Adrianna warned.
She quickly instructed the bodyguards to send them some coffee in the garden Miguel has shown her earlier. She also sent Miguel a quick message to tell them where they were.
Adrianna had no intention of rushing Jonathan to speak to Julia. She knew that if she rushed it, they wouldn't get the results that they needed. She also respected the fact that Jonathan had to build up his courage to speak to his sister again.
"You know, there was a time that she didn't care about me or her son." Jonathan confessed as he looked out to the sea.
Adrianna remained silent as she listened to what Jonathan had to say.
"When dad told her Dominic was gone she was sad and heartbroken for a while, but within two days she had moved on. I asked her if she wanted to look for his body, but she said it didn't matter." Jonathan sighed as he shook his head.
"Everyone has their own way of coping with pain. Maybe that was hers." Adrianna did her best to hope for the best for her friend, but she couldn't deny that if she were in Jonathan's shoes she would be angry.
"I know I should see the best in her, I'm her brother for crying out loud, but after all that things changed between me and her." Jonathan confessed.
"Is that why you are so hesitant to speak to her?" Adrianna asked.
Jonathan nodded.
"But I understand that it needs to be done. I just need to get myself ready. I need to put aside that anger and pain." Jonathan confessed.
"What do you plan on telling her?" Adrianna couldn't help but ask.
"Well, I'll tell her the truth, that for once she can do some good for more than herself." Jonathan told Adrianna, making her a little nervous.
But she knew that she had to trust that Jonathan would be able to convince his sister.
