The goblin village was surrounded by a high wall and consisted of a collection of wooden shacks that were dispersed across the open space.

The goblins constructed the structures out of whatever materials they were able to scavenge or find, including sticks, clay bricks, and animal skins and pelts to patch any holes in the walls. The structures were small and tightly packed together.

Some of them had doors, while others simply covered their windows and doorways with a cloth as a makeshift covering.

There appeared to be signs everywhere that suggested crowded living conditions, such as heaps of broken pottery scattered about in addition to dirty clothes hanging on clotheslines between trees and roofs looking like they'd been unkempt for at least a few weeks, an accumulation of junk everywhere you looked; however, nobody outside of this area would have ever guessed that someone actually lived here other than these creatures themselves.

Yuuto had made it to the heart of the goblin village, and once he did, he saw that the majority of the goblins from earlier had retreated into this area.

There were goblins of every variety kneeling on the ground.

There was an altar in the middle.

In front of the altar were male goblins, female goblins, and even young goblins, all kneeling in prayer positions.

Yuuto approached the altar in an effort to get a better look at whatever was there and noticed a smooth-surfaced, jet-black rock. It appeared to have some luster due to the light that it reflected in small amounts.

An elderly goblin covered in tattoos and other adornments could be seen standing next to the altar. Additionally, it was holding a ringed staff of some kind in its other hand. The staff was shaped very similarly to the staff used by Buddhist priests.

Yuuto was unable to decipher the chant that was being performed by the elderly goblin. He received the impression that it was some type of religious chant, but he couldn't make out the words of the chant.

The chanting went on for a while, and as it did, the light that was shining off the rock got more powerful.

"Are the goblins worshiping that rock? What fucking lunatics..." Yuuto muttered under his breath.

He moved forward in a stealthy manner, making every effort not to make a sound. He inched his way closer and closer until he was finally in a position where he could understand what the elderly goblin was saying to him in its native tongue.

"Oh, mighty god of the darkness," the elderly goblin began, "we are your loyal servants who have been living in this land since time immemorial. We have been living in harmony with nature and obeying your laws to the best of our abilities. But now, an intruder has come to our land and is disrupting our way of life. We humbly ask for your help and protection."

"Oh, mighty god of the darkness, grant us protection as we stand against invading intruders... Feel pity towards your faithful servants! Let justice once again prevail over this land!"

The chant continued, and the light emanating from the rock got brighter.

The words were immediately followed by murmurings from all of the goblins that were gathered around. Yuuto was filled with rage and a burning desire to seek revenge on these little scumbags who had disrupted his peaceful day earlier. He understood that they were praying for his death, and this knowledge made him even angrier.

On the other hand, the fact that the green savages started praying on a rock because they were overpowered by his invasion made him laugh.

The elderly goblin noticed Yuuto and stepped down from the altar while holding the rock and the foamy container it was in. It had a serious expression on its face.

After noticing that an unwelcome intruder had entered their territory, all of the goblins immediately stopped what they were doing and stared at him. Some of them were terrified, while others were terrified of what might happen after witnessing the entrance of such an intruder.

"Goblins... shiny rock... I swear I've seen something similar in an anime before..."

Yuuto's train of thought was broken up by the rock, which suddenly revealed two red dots on its surface that looked like eyes and stared directly at Yuuto.

Yuuto took a single step backward after being startled and exclaimed, "That rock... So it was a sleeping slime all along."

It was as if the rock had been waiting for this moment to begin its transformation; immediately, it sprouted numerous dark tendrils from its body, all of which covered the old goblin.

The elderly goblin yelled out as he laughed, as the power brought on by the slime began to intoxicate him. "Here it comes! The moment I've been waiting for, the moment I become one with the god!"

The elderly goblin started to undergo a change. Its muscles began to puff out, its frame started to widen, its legs and arms started to lengthen, and its eyes started glowing with an odd fury.

Its height continued to grow until it finally reached a maximum of 14 inches in height.

It was no longer recognizable as a goblin but rather as an orc with a larger and taller frame and two long curly horns that resembled the horns of a demon growing out of its head.

The other goblins all bowed their heads in respect and fear as the giant goblin stood before them.

The elderly goblin had transformed into a powerful monster that was now over twice Yuuto's size. It was an intimidating sight, and it was clear that the other goblins were in awe of the transformation.

The elderly goblin spoke in a deep voice, "We are the chosen one! We will be the ones to rule over this land. No one will be able to stand in our way!"

The other goblins all responded with a single chant, "Praise the chosen one! Praise the chosen one!"

"Shit," Yuuto muttered under his breath. He knew that this was not a situation he could win in.

He slowly started to back away, attempting to slowly make his way out of the village.

His thoughts of running away had triggered something inside his head.

Suddenly, Yuuto had a different expression on his face. His previously reddish irises had turned a bluish hue, and his once arrogant and violent demeanor had been replaced with an appearance that was depressed and haggard.

It was the worst possible time for him to undergo a personality shift.
