Chapter 2: CHAPTER ONE: Peace?

72 hours before the incident

The scent of sunflowers fills the air. The rays of the sun glistening the water dripped sunflower field as they dance to the direction the wind flows. Xavier opens his eyes to the beauty of this land, the land he has called home for all the 11 years of his life. it's all he's ever known. the sky is so pretty... he sighs as he adjusts himself and sits up. suddenly a mellow and soft voice cuts in,

"Xavi!!! time for lunch.."

It says. Turning his head towards the giant tree that marks the beginning to the field his eyes meet his mother's her beautiful white hair being softly carried to one side by the elegantly soft wind as her crimson red eyes meet his.

"Kay mom!"

He says with a warm grin on his face.

"Bring Mylo in too.."

She she says softly as she begins to walk away,

"You two have been out all day."

"Kay!!"

The response is swift as Xavier pats his white little husky as he gets up and makes for the tree where his mother stood. 

"C'mon buddy."

He says as he rushes towards the house just passed the tree.

It's not a big house by any means but it's delicate architecture shines through representing a warm feeling as it is caressed by both an array of flowers, that guide you toward it, and the rays of the sun that sit kindly upon this red brick building. Yes, this is his home.

"Ouuu..so what'd you make for lunch this time."

Xavier let's out as he zooms right passed his mother to take a sit on a stool by the stone kitchen island.  His mother let's out a warm smile and chuckles to herself clearly proud of her day's selection for lunch.

"Ta-da!!! it's...."

She says dramatically before she's cut off by Xavier who's starstruck eyes are brighter than ever grinning ear to ear.

"Ch-chicken and potato salad!!!!"

He shouts clearly reveling in the little feast before him. Reaching for the dish his hand comes to a halt as the door suddenly opens.

"Hi guys! what's for lunch?"

A warm brash voice cuts in. The figure of a tall well-built man with deep shiny black hair and blue eyes appears. His eyes meeting Xavier's.

"Welcome back!!"

Xavier says much more softly and mannered in his demeanour and tone.

"Thanks Xavi."

His father responds.

"And how are you today..."

His father says turning his attention to his wife.

"Ouuu... so much better now that you're here, welcome back hunnie.."

She says warmly as she walks towards him and leaves a kiss on his cheek. Xaviers father takes a sit on the stool next to him before he says.

"Hey Xavi...."

Before he is cut off by both the quite frankly unsightly but also ridiculous speed at which his son is already gobbling down his lunch.

"Aaaaah.. I guess it can wait...."

He says in both surprise and mild amusement.

"Mom! mom! this is so good I could die right now!!"

Xavier shouts chicken half in mouth...

"Ehehe sure Xavi just don't get any food on my carpet it's new."

She says laughably as she walks passed him to the pantry patting Xavier's head on the way.

"Ohoho this must be pretty good stuff for you to ignore your old man like that."

Xavier's father says cheekily and a little jealous of the gourmet meal.

"Huh??"

Xavi responds clearly absorbed in a meal worth telling his future generations of grandkids upon grandkids about.

"Ack....fine let's see what all the fuss is about.."

His father mutters to himself jealousy starting to seep through.

"Risa is a good cook no question. but it can't be that goo...."

An eerie silence fills the room as soon he takes a bite... Risa returns to the room breaking the silence..

"Alright I just found some oranges in the pantry and I think this go really well..with...the...."

She looks at the both of them crouched over their plates with a blank expression.

"Eh."

She audibly sounds as she notices all the plates are empty....

"Di-did you finish everything!!!!"

"hunnie..."

Her husband's voice cuts in both brutal and serious.

"Ye-yes?"

Risa responds taken alittle aback by the tone and in awe of the sight before her.

"I could...I could!!!"

He utters in ridiculous stuttering fashion as he raises his voice it breaks with every word.

"Die right now!!!"

Xavier cuts in shouting loudly in equally dramatic fashion....

"Hu-huuuuuuh!!!"

Risa exclaims.

"Yes that's it. We could die right now..."

Her husband says like on the verge of a discovery that could change the world!!! As glittering tears run down their faces like an angels blessing has been bestowed upon their life. The realization of this blessing dawning on them  Risas husband's reaches an epiphany grabbing his wife's hands he proclaims!

"This gourmet meal..."

"WORF!!!"

Mylo barks almost as if attaining enlightenment himself.

"Nae... this divine blessing bestowed upon our stomachs!"

He says dramatically!

"Upon our stomachs!! Upon our stomachs!!"

Echoes Xavier's immediately after his father as he chooses to join in his revelation...

"Nae upon our lives!!!"

His father shouts more dramatic as he takes up her hands and springs to his feet...

"Our lives!! Our lives!!"

.."Worf!!!!"

Xavi shouts after as boy and dog feel the revelation....

"We could die right now!!!!!!!"

They shout in unison as they both spring stiff and fall glittering tears and all, faces filled with complete euphoria like a great revelation of the world's secrets has just been availed unto them

"....aaaah.... this is bliss...."

Risas cheeks red with embarrassment at the ridiculous display unable to hold herself back and boiling over from not only her husband's seemingly absurd choice to act more than half his age but also the audacity of these two to not leave her any lunch that she so laboured to prepare and that little pup too what's with that!!!...and finally oh.. and finally.... her carpet!!!. Oh!! Her precious black sheep wool carpet that she spent days in queue fighting the local mom's to attain the rarity of it which can only be found every 6 years STAINED!!!! Stained by her husband and son who look more and more like babies without a care in the world

".Mmmm.."

Her growl is audible enough to tense all the idiots in the room up.

"NOT..ON... MY...CARPET!!!!!"

She shouts as she stampedes to them having clearly lost it.

One overly exaggerated and dramatic meal later...

"Geez... why are you so dramatic!"

Risa sighs with pout as she dusts off and tucks Xavier in for bed having come to the end of another stress inducing day in her household.

"Hehe we're not though it really was that good!!"

He laughs to himself as his mothers cheeks turn mildly red clearly happy at the praise and remark she receives from her son.

"But if I had to think about it it's probably because father's an idiot and am his son..."

Xavier exclaims cheekily slightly hiding his face with the blanket as his mother just chuckles to herself and pats his head getting up from her crouched position when she says,

"Alright. Alright. now get to bed you, before you father hears us."

"Kay!"

Xavier responds hurriedly...

"Goodnight Xavier."

His mother says as she leaves the room flicking the light off on her way...

"Night!"

He shouts back. The door partially closed leaving a little light produced from the candle down the in his father's study. The room now filled mostly with the light produced from the moon and stars...it's a beautiful night. Xavier thinks to himself as his little husky pops into his bed, it's blue eyes highlighted even more by the light from the sky.

"You're beautiful too Mylo."

He utters peacefully as he smiles softly and pats his dogs head and letting out a little bark from it.

As the time passes he falls to sleep thinking about how much he loves his family and can't wait to get upto more shenanigans to mess with his mother.

Midnight.

Glass breaks... the sound reverberates throughout the house...Xavier's eyes peel open slowly still in a dazed and sleepy state....muffled sounds of speech pass his ears... its awfully darker than it was he thinks to himself still half asleep...

"Huh what was that.."

He mutters to himself staring at the shadows at his door pacing back and forth. Still in a daze he pulls himself up from his bed patting Mylo on the head as he wills his legs forward toward the shadows opening the door completely the conversation begins to become more audible.

"Yo- you can't...."

"Am sorry dear but I have no choice...."

"But you promised...."

The exchange is heard, identifying the voices as his parents Xavier walks towards the shadows...

"Yo-you said it when you asked me to marry you.."

"That you left all that behind!"

"That you wouldn't let your father dictate your life anymore"

"That you wouldn't let your family control your story!"

"That we would be free!!!"

"...that we would be happy...."

His mother says, her voice a mixture of shock, sadness, fear and...heartache....

"I know what I said."

"...bu-but am doing this for you...."

"For Xavi!.."

"Yeah well we didn't ask you to!!!"

His mother's voice cuts in followed by an eerie silence...

"If I don't do this you won't be safe...."

His father responds softly

"If you do this YOU won't be safe Victor!!!"

Risa exclaims loudly... (sigh) Victor places his hands on a nearby desk as the room is filled with silence.... and then finally

"Th-the oasis is filled with different people from all over the world..."

"The 'GUARD' should be able to protect us..."

"Don't you think so too???"

...Risa says her voice hopeful but audibly completely shaken now...

"It's my father Marisa!!!"

"If I don't do this not only us but the whole oasis will be in trouble he won't stop unless I go and stop him myself!!!"

Another eerie silence fills the room as Xavier sobers upto the atmosphere of the conversation his parents are having... after a long period of silence his mother's voice breaks the silence...

"Whe-when do you have to leave.."

She lets out in an anxious tone and mellow tone...

"Two days...."

The response cold and brash...

"Either I leave in two days or...."

Victor says in an anxious and terrified tone....

"Or what Vic...."

Risa responds softly

"Or we'll all die..."

He let's out softly almost in sync with his breath as he tilts his head away from his wife....

Xavier's face turns blue....his brain not understanding what he just heard...his body heavy...his fingers stiff....

DEATH.

That is to not be here anymore... to not feel.... touch...see....smell...hear....

...Love....

...Death...

...His death....all his friends...Mylo's...but more importantly his parent's death...

The boy stone faced quietly wills himself back to bed... That night Xavier could not go to bed as his mind was filled with a bundle of questions...

"His father will leave in two days to meet his grandfather??"

"If he doesn't they'll all die?"

"Why would his grandfather kill them?"

"Why would he go to such lengths?"

"But more importantly just who is his father???"

48 hours before the incident
