Chapter 48: Chapter 47: R2 – Second Prologue Part 4 (NSFW)

Romeo returned to his family mansion and sent orders around the gang to not to not touch the Irish because they had won the Contract Duel. The one who lost was Jade from the Triads, and some of the Made Men among his loyalists were angry. They wanted to break off from the Ocean Triads or force them to pay compensation considering their projected losses by sharing their turf with an intruder. There were angry words between both sides, but it was all calmed down by Itala who continued to say they still owed the Ocean Dragons for their rise and one set back should not end the alliance.

With all that was said, Romeo ended up I his room by himself one night after a few days passed. HE looked out of his balcony while sitting alone. There was the thought of Jade dying so easily without anyone stopping it. It lingered in his mind when he saw the young girl named Nelliel. Compared to the average human she was a definite monster. A fifteen year old girl who hadn’t finished growing yet had a muscular figure that towered over full grown men.

Romeo had trouble sleeping thinking about the kind of strength some people in this world were born with. He sat out on the balcony just looking at the night sky. Many thoughts were on his mind and while there had been ups and downs, there was always tension and pressure for the leadership role. As he watched he noticed movement. A dark figure was climbing up his balcony and he got ready to call the guards before he heard a familiar voice.

Jade: “It’s me.”

Jade crawled up into the room after announcing who she was. She had snuck past all the guards and made it to Romeo’s room unnoticed.

Romeo: “How did you sneak past everyone?”

Jade: “I’ve been in your mansion many times before so I noticed the pattern of the guards.”

Romeo: “Why are you here?”

Jade: “I’m going to be leaving for home soon. This is my last chance to see you.”

Romeo: “Thank you for seeing me. I am glad I got to work with you.”

Jade: “Is that all you are glad for? I came to see you because I wanted something.”

Jade still had a cold demeanor as usual but she seemed to tremble a bit as she grabbed Romeo’s hand and walked toward the bed. Romeo still hadn’t done the deed, and neither had she. They worked together and only spoke about business, but Jade always had an unspoken attraction and softness for Romeo.

Romeo: “Jade, what are you doing?”

Jade: “What I wanted to do. I almost died a few days ago. Now I’m leaving. If I can die at any time then does it matter if I do it with you now?”

Romeo became flustered at the mention. He was a mob boss who had seen a lot of evil done by others but tried to prevent the destruction of lives on his own.

Romeo: “Do it? Do what? What is it you want to do?”

Romeo’s face turned red and so did Jade’s.

Jade: “I am not an easy woman. I waited ten years for you to say something and you said nothing. Now we are going to part and I don’t care anymore.”

Jade had a longing for Romeo since day one, but never had a near death experience until now. The brush with dying and the possibility of easily losing her life from failure brought about the more risk taking behavior. If Romeo didn’t interrupt, she would have died. Her brother gave her the cold shoulder though she was recovering and her father would punish her when she returned for losing the fight.

Romeo: “This is something I had always been warned against.”

Jade: “It’s something you’re warned against but you saw how easy it was for me to die didn’t you? It made me question whether my life even mattered. I could have died and then I wouldn’t even be able to regret. Let’s do it. Who cares about the future.”

Romeo had affection for Jade and had stared at her many times. Their positions in their organizations had prevented them from mingling. There was an understanding between the two gangs that they would not inter-mix and because of that he buried all his affection in his heart.

His sister would always tell him that to be a leader one had to be willing to put off one’s own gratification. To be leader meant caring for the subordinates more than the self, and that was the difference between leadership and tyranny.

Romeo: “I don’t think we should. You should go back.”

Jade: “No, we are doing this. I almost died and I need some comfort. Let’s do this now!”

Jade continued to insist and Romeo found he couldn’t resist. Jade was an awakened fighter and had trained most of her life. Though she only stood up to Romeo’s nose she was physically stronger than he. She pushed him on the bed and started to pull off Romeo’s clothing.

Instead of being angry, Itala instead blamed herself for not going as the representative for the Contract Duel as she was the strongest individual of everyone among their allies in Europe.

Romeo began to stabilize his position until ten months later when the Ocean Dragon triads had sent a large amount of their henchmen to Romeo’s mansion demanding to speak with both he and Itala.
