Before Alfred could descend the stairs, the comical pair had caught up with him.

“Kid hand that over before we have trouble!” the large-breasted woman pestered.

The man was short and skinny, his adam’s apple protruded from his neck almost as much as his chin. He had short scruffy hair and arms as long as his legs. In the whore house, all the regulars had nicknames. His was Legless.

Amy, on the other hand, was tall and obese, she could hide 3 people behind her frame. She had missing teeth and moles all across her face and shoulders. The only redeeming quality was that her hair was long and silky.

‘Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder,’ Alfred thought as he looked in the direction of the man, pitying him. He started down the first step and ignored them again.

The man ran toward the kid, trying to play hero, and grabbed him by the collar.

“Didn’t you ‘ear the nice lady? She said, Give it ‘ere!”

The boy’s eyes turned sharp and he gave a threatening gaze. Instantly, the man felt a shiver down his spine and he let go of the collar. Dumbfounded, the words “What the…” escaped his mouth as he stepped back.

While looking into the boy’s eyes the man saw death. He felt as if those eyes were not human, like staring into the eyes of a predator.

Alfred continued down the stairs, irked by their continued harassment, he would have ended their lives but refrained. Causing unnecessary commotion would warrant unwanted attention to himself.

“Wimp! Get out of my way,” the large woman exclaimed as she pushed the tiny man back. She couldn’t understand why the man released the boy and just assumed he was a coward.

Amy ran with heavy steps down the stairs and caught up. She shouted at the boy, intentionally garnering attention.

“Oi kid! Don’t think you can just steal from me just because you’re hungry, we all have to work!”

Alfred stopped in his steps.

Everyone sitting at the tables looked up and the music stopped, some men even stood up to block the door.

Amy’s plan had worked, now anything the boy said would prove useless and she could swiftly take the pouch off him.

‘Why does everything have to be a hassle in this world?’ Alfred thought as he let out a sigh in frustration.

He took out his knife and Sprinted at one of the men standing using Accelerate, they were a couple of meters away and were shocked at his speed. Before any of them could react, the boy put the knife directly against one of the men’s jugular.

The audience clamored and gasped, whispering amongst themselves.

“How can he move so fast” a worker muttered.

“That kid is insane!” a customer exclaimed.

“Wasn’t boss G said to have been defeated by a kid?” another shouted out.

Instantly the whispers turned into shock as they all raised their voices.

Legless and Amy almost had a heart attack when they heard this. The pair slowly retreated up the stairway while attempting to avoid attention.

“No way, it can’t be him,” a man threw doubt into the dialogue, “he’s too small!”

The rotten teeth whore who stopped Alfred on his way in suddenly had an epiphany, her eyes widened and she trembled slightly. Most of the people here were just speculating but she became certain.

She had been present in the room with Boss G at the time of the failed assassination. Slowly, she turned around and walked toward a back room. Inside, she started looking for something in the drawers.

Meanwhile, the men at the door conceded and stepped back letting Alfred through. Even if he wasn’t Guillaume’s murderer, he could still be a noble family’s heir. Kids his age weren’t known to have combat abilities, therefor there had to be a power behind him.

As Alfred made his way out the door, the rotten-tooth woman found the electronic device she was looking for and pressed a button.

Ring Ring!

Gacha!

A hologram appeared and a man in black was on the other end.

“You better have more information for me. We didn’t give you the device just for friendly conversation.” He warned in a low, deep voice.

“The boy came here!” she interrupted.

Lily was a member of staff here at the whore house. She was one of the better-looking females and was favored by boss G. Despite her horrid teeth, she had a curvaceous body and a young face.

In the early morning, scary men had come to her asking questions about the death of Guillaume. Not knowing much, she answered all the questions to the best of her knowledge. However, she was one of the few that got a good look at Alfred.

That night if she had studied Alfred carefully, and was able to tell the men about his dress, then his Vampire identity would have been revealed. Since people described the boy as having no pants, the Deathmen were unable to make the connection between him and the monster.

The men had given her a device and told her she would receive a reward if she helped them locate the boy successfully. Feeling that refusal was not an option, she agreed to help. Even now she wasn’t seeking a reward but reported out of fear.

“When?” the man replied while making some hand signals to his colleagues.

“Just now! I’m not sure if he’s left yet.”

“Go look for him and stall him!” the man ordered before hanging up the call.

To Lilly’s disappointment, the kid was long gone. Even after asking everyone at the diner, she couldn’t get any information about where he was headed or what direction he left toward.

Alfred was walking joyfully on the street taking in all his surroundings. This was the first time he didn’t feel under pressure or confused since transmigrating. Guillaume had been to the inner city so Alfred was able to compare it to the slums.

He was left speechless as he wondered how there could be such a drastic difference in the quality of life. In the inner city, the buildings were made of metal alloys and glass, they were even more ahead in technology than in Alfred’s past life.

The use of magic propelled scientific innovation in this world, Mana was able to replace batteries and the limits of technological development were shattered.

On the other hand, the homes in the slums were made from crude materials and stone. There was a conspiracy at play that Alfred couldn’t understand.

Calmly, he walked towards the black market, traveling between streets and alleyways. The roads were bustling as kids played games and men gambled. The women were sitting outside their homes and gossiping with the neighbors.

Ignoring all the waste and dirt strewn across the pathways, the slums were a lively place to be.

Alfred arrived at an inn, deep in the heart of the markets. It had a narrow door and a stairway leading down into the darkness. The only way to know it was an inn was the sign hanging above the door.

He cautiously walked down the stairs before checking if his knife was still tucked at his waist. The stairway led to an open room with a bar. There was a beautiful woman behind the counter that noticed him as he made it down the last step.

“Oh my.” She said. “What a handsome young boy.”

For some reason Alfred felt pleased with her comment, it was out of character for him to be flattered so easily. However, this was the first woman he found attractive in this world.

She wore a tight, black jumpsuit that was cut off at the sleeves. It had a large V-neck that left very little to the imagination. At her waist, she wore a red bow which further extenuated her figure. The jumpsuit hugged her legs and buttocks tightly, it seemed as if the fabric would split open at any moment.

Her face was tan and her lips were voluptuous. She had long black hair that extended to her upper back.

Alfred almost drooled at her sight.

“Can you speak little boy?” she giggled.

He composed himself and replied calmly, “Hello madam, I’m looking for someone and was wondering if you could help.”

“Oh what manners, I would love to help!” the lady was impressed since she rarely crossed paths with anyone with decorum. Looking at the boy’s worn-outworn-out clothes and oversized pants, she was perplexed at where he learned such manners.

Alfred wore some of Henri’s clothes since Guillaume burnt his pants. He never had shoes in the first place, so he was happy with whatever he could find.

“I’m looking for the Viper”

The Lady face instantly changed and she exuded a deathly presence. At first, she gave off a seductive air that made you want to run into her embrace, however, now her demeanor was as if she was a snake lying in wait.

“And who’s asking?” she questioned in a monotone voice.

“I have a message,” Alfred calmly replied.

She continued to look at him without responding.

“The black knight wipes his sword with a red cloth.” He continued.

Silence.

The woman then turned around and pulled a leaver that revealed a hidden door before saying; “you may enter, valued customer,” with a broad smile. It gave Alfred chills.

‘I guess she must have been the viper’ Alfred mused. Although Boss G had known about the existence of the viper and the correct password, he had never visited this branch before.

Alfred intentionally came here, wanting to avoid the Hocus family's influence until things died down. For that, he needed a few things that could only be purchased on the black market.
