Chapter 1: Prologue

(A/N: I feel like this is a fast-paced prologue so there isn’t much time to feel bad or anything.)

“Finally! Issue #251!” A teen walked out a store while looking at a book in his hands. “Thanks mom, dad.”

Beside him were his parents who were watching their son admire his book.

The teen was Kai Viran, a 15 year old boy with an obsession with comics. He had black hair and stood at approximately 5,8. His looks were average and he was quite aware of his personality and character.

His parents were Alex Viran and Karen Viran, both having ordinary jobs and a single child which was Kai.

It was Kai's birthday, November 5th 2022, and they had decided to buy him the comic he had always wanted. They had used quite a large amount of money to set up a surprise party at their home while buying him a gift.

Kai was delighted and stoked to start reading. He was an avid fan of a variety of comics though he wouldn’t ask for figurines and such. He was currently reading the Sonic The Hedgehog Archie Comics which could get dark at some times.

In the previous issue, #250, Eggman and Dr. Wilt had activated The Super Genesis Wave which began to rewrite reality to make their empires rule over it. Sonic and Megaman were trapped in capsules as Eggman and Dr. Wily finally collected the Chaos Emeralds.

The Chaos Emeralds were mythical treasures that when combined, could grant the user ultimate power. Which usually worked most of the time but their were other major forces that could counteract them.

Sadly, when Kai was patiently waiting for his upcoming birthday to ask for the next issue, he came across a thread on Reddit. He curiously opened it and was immediately bombarded with spoilers and images of the next issue.

Though it was obvious that Sonic and Megaman would fix the problem in the end, he was still upset with all the other information.

There was really no need to ask for the issue but he still did. His parents bought it for him and he was still happy about it.

Back to the present, Kai and his parents entered their car as his dad started it up. Kai sat down against the door as he hurriedly unwrapped the issue.

“Why don’t you open it at home?” His mother told him as he was in the process of opening it. “It would be more, treasuring, if you did so.”

“Well I already started to open it, so…” Kai said as he kept opening it. In honesty, he knew about the surprise party his parents planned for him but didn’t want to ‘wasted his parents effort. So he acted clueless the entire day to keep them happy. “Also I really want to read it now!”

“Okay then sweetie, enjoy.” His mother finished talking while letting Kai read his book.

…

Kai had just gotten to the part where Sonic and Megaman were standing in front of the reality changing Super Genesis Wave as they started to control Chaos Energy. With a few more  seconds they could fix everything.

But as they were about to shoot, Eggman and Dr. Wilt both crashed their machines into the two of them. Kai was ready to turn the page but something was off.

‘If I remember, only Eggman used his robot to interrupt Sonic…’ Kai paused for a moment. He was sure of it after seeing the spoiler but, maybe it was fake.

So he continued his reading with the next page seeming weird.

The two machines that Eggman and Dr. Wily were controlling kept pushing Sonic and Megaman closer to the Super Genesis Wave.

“What are you doing Eggman!” Sonic shouted as he struggled to break free.

“I‘m not letting you stop my reign over the universe!” Eggman cackled as the massive amounts of Chaos Energy started to affect them.

“Stop it Dr. Wily! We won’t know what will happen if we enter it!” Megaman said as they kept hurdling towards the Super Genesis Wave.

“This will be the last time you interfere with my plans Megaman!” Dr. Wily kept his hand on the controls.

And for the next pages, it was just them getting closer and closer to the wave. This continued until the very end, where the entire page was just blank.

‘Weird…’ Just as he thought that, a sudden rumble shook the ground.

His dad hit the brakes as many other vehicles crashed into each other.

“What the hell?!” Kai’s dad said as the tremors continued.

CRASH!

A sudden car crashed from the side of them as they flung sideways.

The car flipped over to its back as the impact was harsh. The glass on the windows shattered and everything inside the car spilt.

Lots of screams could be heard as people panicked. The sound was flickering off and on in Kai’s ears as his vision was blurred.

Pain, he looked at his hands which were covered in blood and glass shards. He was struggling to focus while trying to find his parents.

“M-mom… D-dad… Fuck this hurts.” He cursed as he looked around. He saw his parents who were still in their seats as blood ran down their heads.

They weren’t conscious by the looks of it as Kai shouted their names as loud as he could. He crawled over to them as he tried to wake them up. He shook their bloodied bodies but they were completely knocked out.

He started to cry with his consciousness flickering back and forth.

FOOOOOOOM

An extremely deep sound echoed through the planet as it came from above.

Kai could see beams of light shining down from above as he suddenly felt the urge to see what it was. He managed to creep his head out of the car to see the source of the sound and light.

But it was not a good sight.

Kai was dumbfounded, too shocked for words. His instincts pricking at him, telling him to run.

A primal fear that everyone had, humans, animals, and all life. A fear extending to the dawn of time and creation of the universe.

It all came from a white tear in space, the tear was swallowing everything in its path with an incredible force. One that made a black hole look like a breath.

The tear was swallowing up the visible sun which made the day start to go darker. Multiple other celestial bodies like the other planets and the moons were also being taken away.

Countless other dots in space were getting closer as the tear was absorbing them.

Kai took a good look at it while his instincts were telling him to run. With his head racing as it warned him however, Kai could only stare and watch.

He recognized it, but how was it here? The Super Genesis Wave!

CRACK

Kai snapped out of his trance as his car was started to fly up into the eave. His eyes still full of tears and pain as he turned to his parents who were floating along. He didn’t have time to reach them.

“NO!” Kai shouted as he reached his hand out. He had no idea what would happen if they went inside the crack but it probably wasn’t good.

His parents were still unconscious and their seatbelts were still on somehow. They were floating along with the car with the Super Genesis Wave growing larger and larger.

Screams of terror still resounded in the air as all forms of life were scared. Countless other people were flying up along with objects like trucks and buildings.

Soon, Kai started to fly up as well as death was approaching.

At this point, he was on the verge of fainting from his wounds and his mind breaking down.

All of this was happening in the span of a few minutes from The Super Genesis Wave and most probably imminent death.

The world was ending, that was a fact for Kai. There was no way to stop The Super Genesis Wave unless you had the Chaos Emeralds or artifacts that rival their power.

He looked up at The Super Genesis Wave with tears in his eyes that almost completely obscured his vision. He saw his parents car entered the wave and completely vanish without a trace. Other noises also started to vanish as the wave was starting to absorb sound as well.

Even the fundamental laws of the universe were starting to be absorbed as everything started to warp.

Any hope left was gone as Kai started to feel his body disappear. He closed his eyes, hoping it would go by fast.

That is until he saw a glimmer in his mind. It wasn’t much but the glimmer stood out for him.

A brilliant green glimmer, which was followed by a blue one, red, purple, white, light blue, and yellow light. They gave a sense of calmness in the midst of all the chaos that unfolded.

‘This is!’ Kai opened his eyes with whatever willpower he had left as he reached out.

His lower half was completely erased and his upper half was being erased by the second. The blood still visible on his clothing and body but he didn’t care.

He saw something, he knew he did!

‘Damn it! Come on!’ Kai grit his teeth as he focused as hard as he could. Keeping a solid image in his mind, a single thought.

In The Super Genesis Wave, 7 vivid lights popped up! The lights were shining brilliantly across the world as blank sky filled with lights.

‘Come here!’ Kai ordered with his mind running at its max.

The lights soon started to converge in Kai’s direction with the reveal of what they were. Diamond shape artifacts that bursted with energy.

Kai saw his hand disappear but still tried to keep focus on the emeralds.

‘I can fix this!’ The emeralds stopped around Kai as they rotated around him. A slow start as they hastened. ‘Chaos Control!’

… Nothing happened as the emeralds just kept spinning round and round. Kai could start to feel his neck disappear with it quickly approaching his head.

‘Damn it! Chaos Control!’ He thought but the emeralds didn’t respond.

But before he could think of anything else, he completely disappeared. Absorbed into The Super Genesis Wave which devoured his universe.

The Super Genesis Wave completely enveloped all of the universe, leaving behind a white void that had no life.

Except the Chaos Emeralds.

They were still spinning around the area where Kai was swallowed thought he was gone.

The emeralds kept spinning though, spinning faster and faster though kinetic energy should have been erased as well.

Then! They stopped. Coming to a complete halt with them slowly losing light.

Going from their vibrant colors to a darker one. The energy was literally leaving them as it seeped out, though not be wasted.

The energy was drawn into the middle where Kai would have been as it formed a body! A male humanoid figure which looked quite similar to Kai. Though much more handsome with a perfect physique.

Still plastered by the colors of the emeralds, the colors started to merge with the completion of the body. The emeralds lost all of their color and shattered into small shards, which disappeared into the humanoid body.

All was still, all was empty, all was cleared.

Until the man had a thought!
