Chapter 8: Renovations

By the following day the old man had agreed to Sora's offer and packed up and moved. Sora moved out of the hotel that day to settle into his new home but not before the receptionist Tina gave him her number. 

Though flattered he had no intentions of pursuing a relationship with a simple mob character. Not when there were so many fresher fruits he was already planning on harvesting. After he and Ea were given the deed to their new home they set about making some major renovations.

They kept the outside of the home the way it was so as to remain inconspicuous, but set up magic security and arrays around the perimeter of the property as well as the rest of the neighborhood. 

Inside they tore down the two story construct and together with Ea help created a dimensional space within the house. So from the outside it would seem like a run of the mill two story home in a respectable neighborhood, but on the inside laid a luscious and spacious residence. 

Sora had the means to cause these architectural changes but lacked the experience to properly wield them. Which is why he needed Ea. She guided his power like a mother teaching their child how to tie their shoes on their own. 

They made drastic changes and Ea helped Sora see his vision for their new home fulfilled. The two story inside was replaced by a 4 story luxury manor with 2 basements that made the 5 star hotel sweet they just stayed in look like a low budget Holiday Inn. 

The first floor included guest rooms, the living room, a large kitchen, a guest bathroom, and Japanese styled rooms. The second floor consisted of Sora's and Ea's room as well as other residential rooms. The third floor had a library study and a large storeroom. The fourth floor had the monitoring system for all the security measures and arrays as well as the armory. The first basement consisted of large indoor Japanese style baths along with changing rooms and a sauna. The last basement was a training and a meditation center which housed dummy's and magic systems to assist with combat training.

After they finished with the magical modifications Sora settled down and tried to relax as Ea went over the progress of his plans.

"Your transfer request to Kuoh academy has been approved by Sora." Said Ea expressionless floating in the air as Sora sat in a chair. She had changed her white gown to look more like an assistant tutor or something . Personally Sora thought it was kinda silly an incorporeal being would worry about fashion and appearances.

"Is that so? That was faster than I expected?" He responded as he drank the last of Tina's blood from a wine glass. "Did the student council raise any objections at all?"

"There was some resistance and inquiry from the president but with our referrals and the system's influence over the school board there wasn't much they could do." She said as she adjusted her newly materialized fake glasses.

"I see the system wasn't joking when it said you would be of great help thank you Ea without you this would have been three times harder." Sora said, giving her a smile.

"I only fulfilled my function, nothing more." Ea responded but Sora could see a slight change in her usually withdrawn expression.

"You made sure that it was classroom 2b correct? He asked.

"Yes your homeroom will be 2b once you transfer in next week." She responded affirmatively.

"Excellent" Sora said with a wide grin appearing on his face.

"Master Sora you're making that disgusting face again why exactly is room 2b so important?" 

"You don't know?" Sora looked up at her with a surprised look. "I thought our minds were connected now?"

"That doesn't mean I know everything about you master Sora only the surface details." Ea said slightly annoyed "I could go digging for the answer if you want as long as you don't mind some pain of course."

"No, No that's fine." He quickly responded with his hands raised defensively. "All you need to know is that room 2b is a crucial part of my plans, in fact it's the first domino that has to fall."

"Understood," She said tonelessly.

"So when is the academy sending my uniform and has my cover been established?" He asked as he resumed drinking from his glass.

"Now that we have an established address the school will send your uniform before the end of the week." Ea said resuming her tutor role. "As for your cover, yes everything has been set up to your specifications."

"Let's go over them again." He said his expression turned serious.

"Very well." She paused before resuming. " You are Sora V. Raziel, age 17 , a foreign exchange student from a wealthy family, both of your parents died when you were young in a car accident."

Sora just listened intently, not speaking as Ea read off his character's backstory.

" You studied abroad with your family's trust fund and under the care of your servants, now you've returned to finish your education in Japan because of your appreciation of Japanese culture." Ea finished and looked at Sora.

"Excellent" he said resuming his devilish grin. "It's coming Ea can you feel it?" 

"Feel what master?"

"The fall." He said standing up from his chair and spreading his arms wide while looking up at the ceiling. "By this time next week everything will finally be set in motion." He said laughing to himself like some kind of comic book villain.

Ea just looked at her master with an unimpressed look. "Master Sora I honestly hate that disgusting neet face you keep making." She said flatly.

Sora felt like his heart was just pierced by a sword and fell to his knees in response.

"You don't have to get so personal Ea geez." He said, trying to hold back his tears.

"We are two beings sharing the same mind; it doesn't get much more personal than that." She retorted back.

"Fair point." He conceded as he wiped his tears and got up off the carpet. "Now that we have a base we can move on to the next step and you will be crucial for this Ea."

"What step is that Sora?" She asked.

"Combat training." He said.

Ea just stared at him in response.

"Combat training?" She asked as if confirming she heard him right.

"Yes, combat training and you will be my instructor."

Ea seemed to ponder this as she floated in the middle of the room.

"If you don't mind me asking Sora how am I crucial for this step, and why do you need an instructor anyway all the knowledge and techniques are already in your head." She said. "You already downloaded everything you would need with the system or have your forgotten?"

"No I haven't forgotten Ea and that's not what I need." He responded.

"Then what?" She asked.

"Experience" He stated. "That's what I need."

Ea became silent again at his remark.

"I have the knowledge but I have no idea how to use it properly." He said. "Like with reconstructing our house. If you weren't here to guide my abilities there is no way I could have done any of that."

"That's true but you could figure it out with time there is no need for you to feel so rushed Sora."

"Time is the one thing we don't have Ea!" Sora shouted at her "We only have 1 and 1/2 weeks before the story begins and we become surrounded by enemies on all sides don't you understand! "

Ea was shocked into silence; it was the first time she had seen Sora angry or maybe even a little frightened.

"I have to build up my battle experience as fast as possible if my plans are to succeed. What's the point in having great power if you don't know how to use it? What is the point in having vast knowledge if you don't know how to apply it?"

"I understand master." She responded, understanding how serious this was to him.

"Good so starting tomorrow we are hitting the training center in the basement everyday until my skills get to where I need them." He said turning back to face her. "Warriors aren’t made in books Ea they are forged on the battlefield and I need you to show me how." 

"If that is your command master then it shall be done." she said slightly proud how serious he was taking this.

"Good now that that's over I'm gonna try out those new dragon hot springs we added in the basement." He said as he basically skipped out of the room laughing like a little kid.

Ea just stayed there floating in her tutor outfit shaking her head in embarrassment at her master's behavior.
