Chapter 3: Chap 3 – Girls’ night in

Shizuku went to her room after helping Nathan feel better.

The house where the party lived had two rooms, one for boys and one for girls.

When Shizuku opened the door to her room, she found Yumina sitting alone on a bed. She was holding a book, reading intently.

However, as soon as Shizuku entered, she closed the book and placed it aside. Then she walked over to Shizuku and hugged her tightly.

Yumina told Shizuku in a sad tone, "Things are getting worse."

Since she knew Merentiel and Nathan better than anyone else, Yumina knew that this would happen one day.

She knew that the growing difference in their powers could hurt their relationship. After all, Merentiel had always thought of Nathan as an equal until the day he realized how much stronger Nathan was.

Now, he no longer felt comfortable talking to Nathan directly, instead relying on Shizuku to relay his messages.

As time passed, this situation worsened.

But Shizuku refused to accept such a fate, and began searching for ways to fix the problem.

"When they were kids, they were such good friends. Why did this happen?" Shizuku sighed.

Shizuku didn't understand how a simple difference in strength could drive a wedge between two close friends.

"Meren just doesn't think he's good enough to be Nathan's friend."

"But that doesn't make sense; we've been friends since we were little."

"Why haven't you already told Nathan that you like him?"

" W-Wh-What's this question out of the blue?!” Shizuku turned red immeadiatly.

"See, in the end, we're all the same. None of us think we're good enough for him, but Meren makes it clear," Yumina said with a sad look on her face.

Yumina tried to hide her sorrow when she realized that.

It was her duty as the eldest to support the party, so she always tried to keep up appearances, no matter what. But on the inside, she truly wished that everything would work out.

She hoped that someday she could see Nathan smile again.

"Wait, do you like him too?" Shizuku asked Yumina in astonishment.

She had always thought that Yumina only saw Nathan as a younger brother because she had never seen Yumina look affectionately at Nathan.

"You are so slow." Yumina's sad face quickly transformed into a grin. "Of course I love him! What kind of person wouldn't?"

Unknowingly, Shizuku was able to transform the gloomy atmosphere into a calm one; this was her power.

"So then... what does this mean? Will you tell Nathan that you like him?"

"Well..."

Yumina hesitated. She wanted to tell Nathan how she felt, but she knew that doing so would cause problems.

However, Shizuku's words brought back memories from their past days as kids playing together in the woods.

Those moments were the happiest times in Yumina's life.

She remembered the days when they had spent hours running around in the forest or the times when they played in the water.

Those were the days when Nathan and Meren had been like siblings. Those were the days when they had looked out for each other and been there for one another.

Those were the days when they felt complete.

Those days were the only ones that made Yumina happy.

"I love him," With that final word, Yumina smiled.

"Then why don't we help one another?" Shizuku always had a simple answer, no matter  the situation. This time was no exception.

"What did you mean by that?"

"I think we're both friends, and we've known him since we were kids. It wouldn't be fair for one of us to outsmart the other.”

"Ohhh!" Yumina gasped.

This was something she hadn't expected.

"We can each try our own best to win him over," Shizuku continued.

"Right? Right?" Both girls nodded in agreement.

Finally, the gloomy atmosphere lifted, making way for a pleasant girls' night in.

With Shizuku's help, Yumina became more forthcoming, and the two of them discussed various strategies for winning Nathan's heart.
