Chapter 4: Chap 4 – Stop being useless

Nathan got up early to double-check the status of the weapons and potions.

They always put everything in a room and closed the door.

Before he went into the room, Merentiel said, "There's no need to check; everything's fine."

"Thanks," replied Nathan.

Merentiel's actions seemed strange to Nathan, since he had never woken up earlier than him. He never woke up late, but he never woke up before him either.

Once he finished checking, Nathan took a quick shower. When he emerged from the bathroom, Shizuku was standing there holding a cup of tea.

"Good morning," she smiled.

"Morning, yourself."

"Did you sleep okay? You must have been tired after yesterday's battle."

"Yeah, but thanks to you, I don't feel too bad today."

"Oh yeah, right! Thanks again," she said shyly.

Shizuku placed the teacup on the table and then sat down across from Nathan. It felt awkward, but she didn't seem to mind sitting close.

"So, what are your plans for today after the quest?" asked Shizuku.

"Nothing special. "Just hanging out with my friends," answered Nathan, trying to sound casual.

"Sounds nice. Hey, want some breakfast first? I can whip up something delicious for us."

"Sure, that sounds great."

"Okay, cool."

When they arrived at the guildhall, Nathan noticed that Yumina was already there.

Today, everyone is acting weird, He thought to himself.

"Yo, Shizu! What's up?" greeted Yumina cheerfully once she saw Shizuku walk inside.

"Hmm, not much. I just came to pick up some quest information," Shizuku explained.

She showed her bag and said, "No need; I already have everything we need."

It had a number of books about monsters and magic potions.

She wanted to take charge of analyzing information and relieve Nathan of some of the work.

"Well, let me see those papers," said Shizuku, looking through the stack of papers.

The monster was a plant called Najaggi, which had natural powers and a rank of B.

Poison, flames, electrical discharges, frozen arrows, and wind blades were among its attacks. It had weak defenses and could only withstand a small number of hits, but its attacks were so powerful that most of its foes would perish on contact.

The mission was to kill it without hurting its body, since this was very rare material. The reward was 40 gold coins.

Yumina gave a detailed explanation of the location and conditions necessary to complete the quest.

After she finished reading, Shizuku nodded thoughtfully.

"Now we just need to get some more specific potions to use in the fight," Nathan said, still taken aback by Yumina's research.

"Don't worry about that either," added Yumina. "I already wrote everything down, and Yuuki already went to get it."

She was very proud that she could finally help her party and not leave everything up to Nathan.

"All right, I guess we're ready to go," said Nathan. "Let's meet up later and head out."

Nathan was at a loss; normally, he would gather everything and they would leave in the afternoon, but now that everything is ready, the best option is to let them rest before leaving.

As soon as they left, Yumina turned toward Nathan.

I'm finally getting close to being no longer useless, and when that happens, I'll finally confess my love, she blushed.

Since he had nothing better to do, Nathan took a stroll through the town while Shizuku followed.

He walked along the main road, passing shops selling various goods.

"Shizu, why is everyone acting so strange today?" Nathan asked worriedly.

He had no clue what was causing his pals' peculiar behavior .

"Well, since you don't want to look for a better party, we've decided to become a better party," she said sheepishly.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement, and her cheeks flushed red.

"Aww..."

He felt a flutter in his chest. He wasn't sure if he should smile or cry.

“Nathan: Is something not right?" Shizuku worriedly called him.

"No, it's just that all the things you guys did for me made me feel really good."

His words caused a wave of joy to wash over Shizuku's face. She hugged him tightly and smiled brightly.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!"

Then she grabbed onto his arm, nearly knocking him off balance.

"Um... What are you doing?!"

"N...nothing," Shizuku said, and she immediately walked away.

She felt ashamed that she had let herself be carried away. It seemed like such a small thing, yet it meant so much to her.

"Ahh, I can't wait until we go on the quest."

"Me too. Let's keep working hard so that we have plenty of opportunities to go on quests.”
