After three and a half days of travelling through a forest and another half day of travelling through a canyon alongside a stream, Rena and Ors finally arrived at their destination. "Well, Rena, welcome to Grampa Canyon."
Slowly pulling out his stick of dynamite, which he was still confused how he was lucky enough to receive, Ors looked around the area to make sure nobody was nearby.
Finding that the coast was clear and the area looked exactly how the anime showed it, the match from his survival kit was set ablaze and used it to ignite the explosive. He stuck it in a crevice and ran behind a huge rock with Rena.
An enormous shockwave resounded throughout the canyon as a small rockslide further back occurred. 'Oh god, I'm glad that wasn't on us.' At this point, Ors had forgotten explosives in canyons are a bad idea.
Peeking out, a cavernous hole revealed itself. Ors took Rena farther away. A group of prehistoric pokemon ran out, exactly as anticipated. They were all around levels 25-30, except the Aerodactyl, which was level 39.
Obviously Ors and Rena couldn't deal with these monsters, so they let them run amok for a few minutes before most left. With that done, Ors could enter the cavern unabetted. This took nearly three hours of waiting, hiding among narrow areas where the pokemon couldn't see.
Inside the cave, there were two things of particular interest. A small blade covered in rust with a gear as it's guard.
Object: Klinkmace
Type: Steel
Purity: 2%
Effect: A sturdy morningstar from over ten thousand years ago. It has a large guard, unlike most maces, which is actually the dead pokemon Klink. While most abilities were lost, the Klink can still spin powerfully when Steel energy is run through it, giving it a powerful sundering capability.
Secondary effect: Can cause tetanus if it punctures someone.
Note: While the blade is rusted, running Steel energy through it while sucking flying energy out of it enough should clear the rust. If taken to 100% purity, more abilities could unlock.
The massive weapon was a pure work of art, even when covered in rust. It was stuck inside of a wall, but once removed, stood around seven feet long.
Those seven feet were around five feet of pole with a one-foot-radius ball atop it, twelve spikes jutting out from the large orb. Four more spikes grew from about halfway down the pole, around eight inches in length.
Its pommel was the most ornate part, a cerulean stone with a black line through it adorning it.
The grip was obviously made from some sort of rotted pokemon hide, though it was still gripping tightly to the steel. It would probably take life energy on the level of Xerneas to fully repair that part.
Of course, a Klink's body made up the guard, with intricate contrivances allowing the gear to spin without doing anything to the weapon itself.
Finally, grey, wiry fabric grew out from the pommel, which could also seemingly be controlled using steel energy.
Altogether, it was weaker than a lot of modern weapons with such low purity, but Ors had hope for it still. It almost seemed tailor made to his fighting style of taking whatever the opponent has and shattering it with barbaric power. Like the juggernaut version of Ikki Kurogane.
Of course, in the corner was the item Ors had really come for: a pokemon egg. Of course, since this wasn't the anime world precisely, there was a chance that it wouldn't be here, but it was similar enough that it should be here.
"Rena, I apologize, but I cannot tell you how I knew this was here. I know you want to ask, but the way I learned it is top secret. Maybe someday..." Of course, that day would never come.
Although she was slightly offended by her trainer's lack of trust, the princess nodded silently.
"Now, we have an egg, but it won't actually hatch for a while, so we need an actual active pokemon." The main reason Ors knew that the egg would be here was that without movement, pokemon eggs wouldn't actually hatch.

Most pokemon could still live for thousands of years in their eggs because their bodies still produced telomerase, and they could form a tun like a tardigrade. Enough nutrients was contained in the eggs that the unborn pokemon could do so for insanely long periods of time.
Thus, the pokemon inside the egg was still forming, but at less than 0.001% of the rate it would while in movement.
Continuing to speak to Rena, Ors began to wrap the egg in some cloth, "In a few days, pokemon should return to that Girafarig's territory, but we don't have the time to wait for repopulation. Thus, from the research I've done, the best place to go is Route 15. We have around three days we can use to look for pokemon that best suit our needs and train."
And with that, Ors and Rena took their leave of the cave, neither considering the repercussions of setting ancient pokemon free into the modern ecosystem.
The human was carrying the massive behemoth of a weapon on his back, which took a toll considering the entire thing was made of steel and pokemon corpse, while the pokemon was carrying the egg on her tail, which she had situated in front of her and between her legs so as to keep watch over her ward.
On the journey to Route 15, the duo ran into a couple of difficulties, namely, the canyon ending in a sharp cliff wall nearly 600 feet tall.
Both were stumped for a moment until Ors arrived at a solution. "Ahem, I appear to have made a miscalculation. It's no problem, I'll climb by piercing that wall with my hands, and you can climb behind me by jumping. Just stick your tail in the grooves I make and then bounce up using your abs. You... you do have abs, right?"
"Yes. I do. The problem is the egg. How do we get the egg up there?" And they were back at an impasse again.
For five minutes, they thought, and neither could come to a good conclusion. "The only thing I would know to do is make an updraft behind me to keep it flying as I climbed, but I don't have the finesse I would need to do that." Ors finally said.
"Though I am unsure as to the specifics of how our eggs and fetal development work, I do believe growth speed increases when the egg moves, right? So if you just ran laps throughout the canyon, the egg could hatch?" Rena inquired, making a rather valid point.
As valid as the point was, Ors still had a rebuttal. "If I was going to do that, it would almost just be faster to walk all the way back to the forest and go along the top of the cliff."
"Then we ought to do that. The egg's hatch time will decrease if we do so quickly anyway, plus we could find a pokemon along the way. There is also no guarantee that the pokemon will have a way up the canyon wall. We are rather weak when just hatched, after all."
With that affair finally settled, they moved back to the forest, where the next difficulty beset them. The Girafarig was fucking awake. This was shocking considering half of its spine was blown off. "Well, I wasn't intending to try doing this at the moment, but I guess there's no time like the present."
Wasting no time, Ors slammed his mace directly onto the giraffe's head, caving it in and killing it. A shocked yell entered his ears as his pokemon cried out. The egg had been soaked in the blood and brain matter of the brutally killed pokemon, leading to its keeper dropping it. A small crack formed on the side. "NO! Shit, please don't be dead, please don't be dead..."
'An apology is worth nothing here.' Rena decided, content with just trying to minimize he damage by applying pressure to the egg in such a manner that the crack wouldn't spread.
Since the egg was indeed fine for now, Ors breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh god. Please be careful with your little sibling please, Rena."
And with that, Ors took out his survival kit and began dismantling the pokemon he had killed. Heart, brain, liver, bones, even gallbladder were taken out with surgical precision by Ors.
"I didn't expect this to be such a successful haul. If I make it to Neon Town before these spoil, I can probably turn them in to the Alchemist's Guild for a pretty penny. Johto pokemon are rare here."
Ors said to himself. He didn't expect to harvest so well, which is why he didn't bother earlier. Now that he already had to stop by Neon Town to check up on the egg, he could sell his loot there too.
"Oh, could you rinse the egg and weapon off by using a small concentrated rain dance?" That was how Ors had been showering for the past few days.
Well, the past day. He didn't think about it until Rena complained about his scent.
Now that the egg was clean, and the mace was washed next, Ors and Rena decided to rush to town at the fastest speed that still ensured the egg's safety.
It was only a couple of miles away, meaning the two arrived in a little over an hour.
