Walking onto the massive stage in the center of town alongside 255 other graduates (42 of whom came from his school), Ors grinned cockily. He looked over all of them, considering whether to maim the green mohawk's pokemon. He didn't want to accept the help of rich people, but getting rewarded by them for a job wasn't unreasonable to him. Ors preferred to live like Hasan Piker.
Such a large stage was unnecessary for such a small city to most people, but those people didn't know that Fennel Town had one of the best football teams in Kanto, the Wobbuffets. Although it was surrounded by jungle, Fennel Town wasn't far from a huge highway that led to an airport and Neon Town.
There were no real skyscrapers in town, but the school was large, and multistory buildings littered downtown. Smaller cottages and even a few mansions lay in the jungle and outskirts of town. Trees weren't rare to see even near the center of the city, as it was founded by primitive peoples who led huge herds of Exeggutor.
From the anime, Ors knew that there was a ruin near here that housed a Regice, but he was't sure if that's still the case in this world, nor who he should tell if anyone. He decided to return when he was stronger. If anything, it was probably only a half-breed legendary.
Legendaries could breed in this world, their genes always winning out over normal pokemon even when male, but the resulting eggs having an incredibly long hatching time. Thus, even half breed legendaries were rare, usually being abandoned by their parents.
Near the end of some speech about how momentous an occasion this was, Ors finally stopped daydreaming and paid attention.
"Now, everyone on your marks, get set, go!" An announcer yelled.
'Fuck, I didn't catch a word of that, it was way too boring! What am I supposed to do!?' Panicking, Ors followed the actions of other trainers who were releasing their pokemon. 'Oh, it's just a race.'
Pokemon ran alongside trainers, only the first 64 pairs to arrive getting a place in the tournament. As Ors was the last to start, everyone was starting to laugh at him. "Rena, time for a little rain dance!"
And a cloud rose up, covering just the race track, extremely weak shape manipulation is part of what denoted having Basic mastery of a move. Making the cloud a rectangle instead of a circle was easy. "Now, aqua jet all the way to the finish line. I'll be along shortly."
And at insanely high speed, both pokemon and trainer blasted past everyone else. The race was a mile long, which was long distance for some and a 2 minute sprint for others. Ors didn't pay attention to any other opponent except himself and the green mohawk kid.
Near the end of the race, Ors finally saw the pokemon that supposedly shouldn't exist. It had already finished, only Rena having other than it. This put the race for first place between Ors himself and the enemy human, rather than their pokemon. "YoU'Re fAsT! Mantis Blitz!"
The boy grew scythes from his hands, falling on all fours and running at an even faster pace by digging into the ground and pushing off it. Green Mohawk's speed increased by around 40%, allowing him to take first from Ors.
"Wh-what?" Ors shouted, stunned by this development. 'Someone else here has better aura manipulation than me?'
At the same second as he thought that, he heard Rena shout for him to move faster. People with aura covering their bodies started catching up to him. Ors didn't have any moves to speed him up, but once he neared the finish line, neck and neck with three others, he dug his toes in the ground, kicking it with aura on his feet and barely granting him second.
Finally, he could use Identify on the... thing. Ors agreed. It shouldn't exist.
Species: Abomination (Cacnea/Dratini)
Type: Dragon/Grass
Potential: Black
Ability: Thick Leaves (Synthesizing... synthesizing... synthesizing... See ability "Thick Fat")
Level: 9
Learned Moves: Razor Leaf (B)
Egg Moves: Dragonbreath (B), Psycho Shift, Skill Swap, Mirror Coat (B)
Two Dratinis took the place of a normal Cacnea's eyes, whereas its crown looked like that of a Dragonair's. Utterly terrifying. But it was relatively weak at the moment.
Abominations were well known to normal trainers as something untamable to anyone below Master level that would likely kill you if you had the misfortune to find one in the wild, so an 18 year old using one was an extremely huge ordeal.
It's not like it never happened before, but an Abomination as a starter, especially a Dragon type, was a once-every-other-generation thing.
'Rena, this is bad. You won't be able to take it out with Icy Wind in one hit, but a mirror coat could seriously hurt you. We're both glass cannons, so trust me, I know. Here's what I need you to do...'
After everyone had finally arrived at the goal, the tournament board appeared.
The first battle was... Ors vs Vatira. The Green Mohawk grinned. It was him. The matches were obviously rigged by someone. Looking up to the DJ stand, a green haired man with similar facial features to Vatira sat. 'Rich fucker! I wanted him to waste energy on the others first so I could get an idea of his strategy!'
Once the field was cleared of all people, the battlers stood opposite each other at opposite ends of the field.
"This will be a 1v1 battle between Orthus Regulus and Vatira Sengosa. You are both allowed to use one item during this match. Ready? 3! 2! 1! Go!" The announcer yelled, trying to hype up the crowd with loud shouts.
""Rena/Dracactus, you're up!""
A Poliwag of two feet squared off against a four foor tall cactus with two six-foot-long dragon heads sticking out of its eyes and what looked like an asgardian wing helmet.
"Rena, Rain Dance!"/"Drac, Skill Swap!"
Rain began falling from the sky as Ors paled and Vatira smirked. "Checkmate."
"Heh, made you think it." Ors smirked back.
If he didn't know about Skill Swap, Ors was sure he would've lost. However, with the help of a certain technique, ending the match was easy.
Rena used... Encore.

And she didn't even really use rain dance, the rain actually a weak water gun, knowing what was about to happen. It was pretty obvious, since her ability was revealed when she used rain dance earlier.
Ors realized the use of Alynn's Machop's Encore was nearly his undoing in that match, and had Rena learn it along with Icy Wind.
Species: Poliwag
Type: Water
Potential: Green
Ability: Thick Fat (Swift Swim)
Level: 7
Learned Moves: Hypnosis, Water Gun (B), Pound
Egg Moves: Mud Shot, Aqua Jet (B), Rain Dance (B)
Taught Moves: Icy Wind, Encore
The only problem was that Mud Shot was still unranked, otherwise, Encore was a perfect move to learn.
"Hahahahahahah! Excellent! You've played well. Now, Drac, use Struggle!"
The sheering audience started to go silent. Using struggle to defend against encore was a "what?" moment for the history books. Ors was also too stunned to speak for a moment, but finally yelled, disheartened, "Combo 2. I guess..."
Rena attacked with a Mud Shot, which successfully hit, but only slowed down the abomination slightly. Although she tried to dodge using aqua jet, one of the long Dratini heads shot out, leaving Ors only enough time to say "P!"
Rena spun, attacking with pound instead of aqua jet. The pound and struggle went back and forth a bit before Rena was finally knocked back, her attack taking away most of the damage. She then escaped to the other side of the field using aqua jet. "Now, Icy Wind!"
And the charging cactus couldn't dodge due to already being slowed. It took the direct hit, slowing down even more and dealing huge damage. Ors cackled, "Bet you wish you had thick fat now, huh?"
"Nope, dragonbreath!"
And a laser of dragon type energy slammed into Rena, sending her flying back into the arena wall. "Please, can you get up?"
Barely, she shrugged it off, standing up. But lightning then coursed around the Poliwag. "Doesn't matter, Icy Wind!"
"Kek, Mirror Coat."
As frigid air slammed into the dragon and ice type, further dealing huge damage, a shining cylinder started spinning, collecting the energy and changing it to psychic type, which was then shot back in a beam. Meanwhile, Rena wasn't sitting on her ass, she was already moving erratically in an aqua jet. This was the hasty plan Ors made. Encore on Skill Swap, then hit with Icy Wind, and evasive maneuvers against mirror coat.
If only skill swap wasn't used, Rena could've dodged the dragonbreath. Just as she was about to dodge, her body seized up, and she narrowly took the hit to her side. Spinning rapidly, the aqua jet and pokemon inside careened off, hitting the wall again, but this time cracking it. The dust cleared to reveal blood pouring from Rena's side, as she barely stood, quivering.
"Rena! Dammit, I forf-"
"POLI!" Ors was cut off by his pokemon.
Inside his' head, his pokemon screamed, "If I can't handle just this one abomination, how am I supposed to take on the Pikachu clan? No, I WILL win this! If it costs me a limb, I will win!"
*Notice: New Ability Unlocked: Torrent!*
A huge spout of water erupted from the tadpole, the black spirals on her front turning a vibrant red. "Hell yeah, Water Gun, go!"
And go it did.
Vatira held up his arms in an "X". "As if. Block with Dragonbreath using your heads and send a Razorleaf with your body!"
"Now, freeze the water with Icy Wind!" The smile on Ors' face was wider than Luffy on a good day.
"What?!"
Only the tip of the water gun actually froze, but that x2 affect versus dragon types gave it the edge, as it broke through, and the high pressure blast pierced into the Abomination's body.
In response, Vatira jumped onto the field. While Ors readied himself for a fight, he was pleasantly surprised to see his opponent block the rest of the water gun using his mantis scythes, then heal his pokemon with a Sol Berry before returning it. "Well done, you won. I've never lost, even though I had my pokemon a whole month. Hey, I think I wanna chat with you after the tournament. Call for Omar at the pokemon center."
"Hm. Undefeated! Yes! Well done, Rena!" Ors shouted, ignoring Vatira's words apart from a small nod, accepting the invitation to chat. Although the abomination was just that, it wasn't unworthy of life, only a little strange. Though this was unusual for its kind, he would be willing to give this one a chance.
And then, Rena fell over, having passed out ten seconds before, after getting hit with the razor leaves.
He whispered into his mind, where he couldn't sense her presence like he normally could even when sleeping "Hey, Rena? Ahem, Rena?"
"RENA?"
