Ors sat alone in the corner of a pokemon center, listening forlorn to the sounds of the bustling city outside. The match was decided as his win rather than a tie because Rena fell over a good bit after the Abomination, but he doubted he could make it back before his next match. Honestly, he didn't think he wanted to either.
Rena took just enough damage to knock her out, but one of the leaves managed to nick an artery, and fighting any more in that state could mean further, or even permanent, damage. It was best to let her heal.
That's when Ors got an idea, looking through the tournament rules. It... didn't necessarily state that a pokemon had to be the one to fight. 'I'll win this, for the both of us,' Ors whispered into his mind, hoping Rena could hear him, even when he couldn't feel her.
Her presence was still absent from his mind, but Nurse Joy said she would probably become stable within fifteen minutes.
Sure enough, only ten minutes later, Ors was allowed to come see her. Rena was covered in different machines that were pumping more blood into her, providing nutrients, and most importantly, refilling her energy to full capacity, but stable.
She had a high chance of making a nearly full recovery within about three days, but definitely wouldn't be ready to train or travel until then, and especially not fight in the tournament. "Thank you, Rena. I'll be back with the first place reward." He whispered into her ear.
And certain that she would survive, Ors ran back to the arena, charging back into the participant area. Just in time, too, as his match was next.
He had managed to catch who his opponent was on the live television in the car that brought him to the pokemon center in the first place. A Venonat user.
"One item for the tournament, eh? Let's make that a Pecha berry, then." Ors ran outside, buying one from a Berry Vender, then returned.
Five minutes later, he popped his neck as his name was called along with a girl with pigtails named Ruetelle.
As Ors walked onstage, Ruetelle called out to him, "You can give up if you want, I saw the state of your pokemon earlier."
"Unnecessary, let's get this started." The boy yawned, expecting an easy victory.
"Don't say I didn't warn you!" The girl yelled gritting her teeth in anger.
The MC yelled from his booth, "This is a 1v1 between Orthus Regulus and Ruetelle Diskus! You may use one item throughout the match. Begin!"
And thus a slaughter began. Metaphorically, as killing wasn't allowed, nor something Ors wanted to do unless he had to.
"Go, Venonat!"
Species: Venonat
Ability: Tinted Lens
Moves: Struggle Bug, Agility, Poisonpowder
"Oof." Ors jumped onto the field.
The crowd quieted, looking up to the announcer as it to ask whether this was ok. "Um, Orthus... Do you plan to fight against the pokemon yourself?"
"I do. Why? Is that wrong?" was the disgruntled reply.
The announcer bit his lip. "Well, I suppose it's fine, as long as you know its dangerous."
"Venonat, Poisonpowder!" The girl yelled, trying to take advantage of Ors' distraction.
But she utterly failed, as he charged straight through it while coating his arms in flying type energy. A purple hue appeared on Ors' forehead, but it didn't do anything else other than a tiny bit of damage. 'She should have started with agility.' Ors thought to himself, raining blows onto Venonat's scalp over and over again, while the girl just stood there shaking.
When it was almost passed out, Ors turned to her. "Hey. Forfeit."
"Fuck you, Struggle Bug!" And ten hits of bug type energy laid into Ors. The critical hit dealt half of Ors' health at once because of tilted lens preventing his flying aura from blocking the bug move.
Rolling back up to his feet, Ors skidded slightly before stopping, charging back into the fray. "Finish him, use another struggle bug" Ruetelle screamed, wildly cheering as if she had won.
But with a base speed of 45, Venonat could never match Ors, who kicked off the ground using his aura, moving so fast, he seemingly teleporting past the attack and behind Venonat.
And with one last flying type punch, he demolished the pokemon. "Ors is the winner! An incredible pokemon versus human display!" And Ors calmly left the stage, munching on a Pecha Berry.
The tournament featured a path of six battles to reach the finals, Ors expecting it to get harder as it went along since the setup was obviously rigged, but remembering that this bracket was made for the creator's son, he realized it was actually quite easy to reach the finals.
Moving easily through the next three battles, Ors made it to the finals, beating a Paras, Mankey, and, oddly enough, a Magikarp. How did the Magikarp make it to the top 64 in the race? Good question.
It had the ability swift swim, meaning the rain dance actually helped it. But it was too stupid to use its full speed, resulting in it barely making it in to the tournament. It also had the move Power Swap, somehow, allowing it to do some major damage with tackle.
Ors managed to dodge it using the same evasive maneuvers he taught Rena, then knocked it out with a few good hits.
Finally, it was time for the finals. The crowd went wild the second Ors and the other guy stepped on the stage.
"Let's do this thing! Mototo Ukon versus Orthus Regulus, start!"
Both Ors and Mototo jumped onto the stage. Both were extremely wary of each other, because the latter's grandfather was the former's teacher for three days, and both knew of the other's connection to Spenser.

"So, Moto, you're fighting me yourself rather than with a pokemon?" The two circled each other, an ice cold aura fighting a sunny, airy one.
Nobody else had fought themself against Ors, as everyone he fought was among the weaker individuals who couldn't control their aura well. But Mototo had fought some of the higher rankers from the race, both himself and using his Houndour.
"Indeed. Apologies for harming you as badly as I am about to." Mototo bowed his head slightly, which gave a miniscule opening. Ors had finished reading his enemies data, a plan already compiled.
Species: Frost Human II
Type: Aura (Coding:Ice)/Water
Potential: Orange
Ability: Oceanloved (Can summon up to 100,000 gallons of water daily from the ocean)
Level: 24
Moves: Water Control (I), Ice Spike, Freeze Water (B)
'This guy... how am I supposed to win this bullshit?' But Ors took advantage of the opening anyway. After all, his status had changed from his training as well.
"Corkscrew Skewer!" The attack began as normal, Mototo being caught in a flying-type energy vortex after taking a hit to the gut, but was notably different from before, as a metallic grey sheen cloaked his hand.
"Well played. This is a good attack." Mototo summoned a shield of water, slowing down the steel attack greatly due to the type disadvantage faced by Ors.
And the water suddenly froze with Ors' hand trapped inside. Exactly as Ors intended.
His muscles suddenly expanded a great deal, while covered in steel energy, shattering the ice and allowing him to continue his attack. "What!?" Mototo took the shot to the chest, flying back with the hit to gain some distance.
"Hahhhhhhhhh!" He shouted, planting both hands onto the ground. A huge torrent of water flew from his hand, covering the field in about a quarter inch of muddy water. He summoned all he could from his ability while simultaneously using his water energy to increase the amount even more.
"Fucking ouch!" He yelled at Ors, who was already on him.
The battle started ramping up when the water started freezing while shooting up at Ors in icy spikes. Most were too slow to hit him, as the boy dodged the death-cicles, but he couldn't manage to reach his enemy either.
This game of chicken continued for three minutes, until Ors finally stepped onto a sheet of ice. 'Chance!' Mototo smirked, freezing all the water in a 10 foot radius of Ors.
But just as Mototo went to use ice spike, Ors jumped in the air while frontflipping an egregious number of times, while steel energy surrounded his legs. "Steel Axe!"
And he slammed the steel leg into the ice, completely shattering all of the ice Mototo had made.
With the ground now open all around him, Ors finally had a straight shot to his opponent. "Well done. If you were just a slight bit faster, you would have won for sure."
But Mototo just grinned. After all, Ors had just stomped on a tiny Ice Spike in order to shatter the ice, severely hampering his speed.
As Ors was in the center of the arena, he had fallen for the enemy's trap. A goodamount of the water that had spread out through the arena underground rose up, encircling Ors in a complete semi-sphere, in total about a hundred gallons.
'Incredible! Can I even break out of this?' Ors bit his lip.
As it froze, Mototo gloated. "Give up, or I can spear you with an ice spike from every direction!"
Raising both hands, Ors simply smiled, then spun them like a child trying to do a cool spin move. But this worked better since Ors was fast and had steel energy on his hands.
An audible crack resounded as he shattered the side in the direction of his enemy, then focused flying energy in his feet, rather than the normal energy he had been using before. "Boots of Hermes!" Clouds appeared around his feet with wings on the ankles.
*Zzzzzzppppsss-tss-tssss*
Ors suddenly appeared behind Mototo, fingers outstretched like a spear, which slammed into the base of Mototo's spine. "Khuk!" He spat, as he crumpled to the ground in utter agony.
Not before Ors did the same thing, his legs brutally mangled, which blood pouring out from the incredibly torn muscles. His ankles were more than a bit dislocated as well, rather, the talus was broken in three places, with other parts out of socket.
"This is a tie, as both are unable to stand up and battle!" The announcer shouted.
But Ors replied with a glob of spit, "Shut the fuck up, old fogie!" And he flipped into a handstand using only his abs. Mototo couldn't copy the feat, merely screaming in agony.
"I win first place, you hear me? I did it, Renaaaaaa!" He cheered with the roaring crowd.
Ors eyes started to fill with tears.
Because he heard a reply in his mind, "Good Job, Ors."
