Chapter 17: Chairman Rose

　         ҉ 　      ҉　    ✼ Fireworks noises ✼　       ҉       ҉　    ✼" 

Reporter: " Today is the day, It is time for the young geniuses from different regions to compete against each other and see who is a true genius among them. I am Reporter Aiya reporting live from Circhester City and I will be your host for this competition. I hope you all will enjoy seeing these young ones competing." 

Autumn: 'To be honest this can be considered BS. They say that this competition is to find talent but the truth of the matter is that it is just another way for those large companies and organisations to find talents whom they can nurture and turn into the Pokemon Professor or researchers for their organisation.' 

Autumn: 'The common public also don't know how ugly things could be. Let's say if a poor family child competes and wins and an organisation offers the child support then it would be a blessing for them but if the said organisation has some shady history then it can be a curse.' 

Autumn knows very well that if one could receive support from a very powerful and clean organisation then you will get enough resources in return you work for them which is not bad. You get sponsorship while you are still a trainee and a job when you become a qualified Pokemon Professor which can be considered an opportunity that comes in a lifetime.  Autumn also knows that there will be some shady organisations that will surely come and watch this competition in disguise because after all you still need some trained pokemon professors and researchers to enhance your organisations. 

The role that a Professor or a Researcher can play in this world can be considered insane in this world. Take the Regional Professors for example they hold the same power as the champion just below the Law of the Region. They probably can even be considered superior to the champion of the Region by a little. Autumn knew that after working in the lab for so long, He read some messages on Oak's computer. Though he only saw them by chance because Oak had left his PC open. He got a general idea of how much power a regional Professor holds in their hand. 

Autumn: 'I am sure that those who have just passed the test that the trainees give and become professors or researchers are not considered that important but if a young kid could pass that test then. I am sure that he/ she will get attention, that is exactly my goal. Though I don't like the attention that much it's for my plans. So, I guess I have to give it all. Then I can slowly take things.' 

Being a Pokemon professor or a researcher is no joke, many people have to spend years learning many things about pokemon. Simply put you have to be a nerd to be able to become one and it might take years before you can take the exam. So, when Autumn got news about the prize that they promised if they got the first place he was deadset on winning the whole thing. 

Sonia: "There you are. I have been looking for you, we must hurry the competition opening ceremony is about to begin." 

Autumn: "Alright, Alright I am coming." 

Sonia then proceeds to guide Autumn toward the building where the competition was said to take place. It was fairly a large building and looked grand. Autumn and Sonia enter the building and made their way toward the hallway but on the way, they met a very important person. It was Chairman Rose. 

Sonia: "Chairman Rose?" 

Rose: "Oh Sonia it's you well good to see you." 

Sonia: "Yes chairman Rose I didn't know you were here this early otherwise I would have called someone to pick you up." 

Rose: "Since I am already here it doesn't matter on another hand who is this young man." 

Sonia: " Oh, this is Autumn. Autumn meet chairman Rose." 

Autumn: " It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Chairman Rose I am Autumn Oak. I have heard some great things about you. It's truly an honour to meet you." 

Rose: 'So he is from the Oak family.' 

Rose: "Same here, it's nice to meet you, Autumn. Are you perhaps competing in this competition?" 

Autumn: "Yes" 

Rose: "Then good luck. I will be expecting a good performance from you." 

Autumn: "Thank you for your kind words." 

Rose nods and goes to the main hall because he was the one who will be giving the opening speech and welcomes. Then the announcers will take on from that. After Rose left Sonia and Autumn also had gone to their respective places. Sonia had gone towards the judge's section while Autumn had gone towards the room where other contestants were. He made a quick scan around the room and found Bede who had challenged him but there was someone who he was surprised to see. 

Autumn: "Cynthia" 

Cynthia was there Autumn did think of the possibility of Cynthia also being one of the competitors but wasn't expecting to see her here. Cynthia also noticed Autumn and was happy to see him. After the battle, a kind of friendship started between the two. Autumn liked the character of Cynthia and also saw potential in her and he was okay with being her friend because she could be a very powerful ally in the future. As for Cynthia, she also liked Autumn's character and had a kind of admiration for him in her heart. 

(A/N: The relationship between the two will be like this for now.) 

Bede: "So, you have come. Nice now I truly destroy you.." 

Autumn: "Oh Bede it's you." 

Bede: "Hmph, To be honest, I wasn't expecting you to show up until now.  You didn't show up even if the competition is about to begin I thought that you have given up and run away." 

Bede tried to provoke Autumn. It seemed like the last lesson was not enough but Autumn didn't say anything because he was not bothered. Meanwhile, Cynthia was frowning at Bede's insult to Autumn, he was her friend so she naturally was not happy. 

Bede: "Well even if you show up the results won't change I will be the one to win remember that Autism or whatever your name was."

Bede provoked again and this time Autumn raised a brow and gave Bede a weird look. 

Bede: "What gonna cry about it?" 

Autumn: "No I am wondering did you forget my name?" 

Bede: "It didn't seem necessary for me to remember so I forgot it." 

Cynthia: "You -" 

Autumn: " Then this may be bad for you what if you also forgot the things you studied for this competition." 

Bede: "Wha -" 

Cynthia: "Pft" 

Bede was speechless while Cynthia couldn't hold her laugh after Autumn had said that and laughed a little. 

Autumn: "Do you have Alzheimer's or something?" 

Bede: "What no I don't." 

Autumn: "Then why did you forget my name. I am pretty sure that you shouldn't have forgotten my name because of how memorable of first meeting was." 

Bede: "Huh" 

Cynthia: "What was so memorable about it?" 

Cynthia couldn't hold back her curiosity and asked. 

Autumn: "Well you see the first time I met him I-" 

Bede: "Stop you don't need to explain further." 

Bede didn't wanted someone to know that he got slapped in the face during their first meeting that would be embarrassing. He glared at Autumn meanwhile Autumn started to chat with Cynthia but soon a voice said... 

Voice: "Dear contestants, please make your way toward the main hall where the competition will now soon begin." 

Autumn: "I guess we should get going." 

Cynthia: *nods  "And we would be competing against each other." 

Autumn: "Good luck." 

Cynthia: "You too." 

Bede: "Hey don't ignore me I am also competing." 

Autumn again gave him a look and said. 

Autumn: "Of course, you are if you weren't competing then why would you even be here." 

(A/N: Ohh, might need a burn heal)

Autumn pretty much destroyed Bede even before the competition started. Cynthia giggled after hearing what Autumn said while Bede was pissed and got out of there before he explodes while Autumn and Cynthia slowly also went to the main hall in a steady phase.
