Chapter 16: Master ■■

The next day... 

Autumn was now sneakily making his way toward the Town exit. He didn't want to fight Opal because even if he fight her he knew that he had a high chance of losing because of the huge gap in the level between their Pokemon. He can not just ignore that and also she is more experienced in the way of Pokemon battles and that was also the only reason why he could win against Cynthia because of him being more experienced than her. But as of right now Autumn was at a total disadvantage and didn't want to fight an old lady. 

Autumn: "Okay I can see the exit now I just have to -" 

Opal: "And where do you think you are going." 

Autumn stopped in his tracks right then and there, he was currently in utter shock. He didn't expect that Opal would be waiting for him at the entrance. He was sure that if he had set out early in the morning he would be able to avoid her and wouldn't have to go over the trouble of battling her because although he might be a battle manic he is not stupid. There is no way that he would try to fight an unwinnable match. Autumn sighed before turning towards Opal trying to lighten the mood a little. 

Autumn: "Oh miss Opal Good Morning. It's quite a fine morning for a walk wouldn't you say." 

Opal: " Well, aren't you an early one? Going out to walk when it's still dark" 

Autumn: 'Isn't this Town always like this all year around. I'm pretty sure that the only way people can tell if it's morning yet is by checking the time on a watch.' 

Autumn: "I mean you can't really distinguish what time it is now can you, in this Town and since I woke up just now I thought it's morning so I just wanted to go for a walk." 

Opal: "Well you are certainly right but that's only for the ones who are new to this town, you know trying to avoid things the more troublesome it may get remember in future it may come later to bite you." 

Autumn: "..." 

[Flashback (Previous life)] 

Autumn: "Ugh, Master Oogway do I have to do this. I can't feel any progress. I am sure that this exercise has no meaning to it." 

*Bonk 

Autumn: "Oww" 

Oogway: "My student you are only trying to avoid this because you can not seem to find a way for yourself to be able to complete this task. Remember in life nothing can be avoided the more you try to avoid something the more it will be troublesome to deal with later on. You must remember that life is a constant struggle between death and survival." 

Autumn: " But -" 

Oogway: *Sigh "Autumn you are my youngest disciple and probably also the most gifted one at that but the bad thing about you is that you are lazy. I am not saying that you need to be active all the time but you must not avoid these things in life because these are the things that build up your foundation. Now get back to your task and if you can't do it until dusk you are not getting any food." 

Autumn: "fine I will do it." 

Many years later... 

Rex: "Congrats man you did it. You finally reached the Paragon stage. The highest stage is ever known to mankind, you are now one of the strongest individuals of this world." 

Autumn: "No need to be so hyped Rex although I have reached the Paragon stage it is still too early to congratulate me I am just a newly promoted Paragon." 

Rex: " I am sure that you will do just fine also how is your work going on these days." 

Autumn: "It's a hard job being the Champion of a region. Too many things to deal with but I guess this is what to be expected after all it's impossible to avoid things that life throws at you all you can do is just work hard enough." 

Autumn: 'Though it's not a bad thing to take a step back sometimes that may in the rare cases be a more wise decision.' 

[Flashback ends] 

Opal: "Autumn are you listening?" 

Autumn: "Yes I am." 

Opal: "Oh, I thought you were ignoring what I was saying just now." 

Autumn: "I was not, to be honest, I was rather listening to your advice with full attention." 

Opal: "Oh really now" 

Autumn: "Yes" 

Opal: " Okay then were you trying to avoid the Battle just now?" 

Autumn: "Well not really but I did think about doing so?" 

Autumn: 'Until just a while ago but I decided to change my mind. Thank you miss Opal for reminding me of that old master of mine.'

Autumn:'So you can take this battle as me just repaying the gratitude.' 

Opal: "I see quite honest but what about now?" 

Autumn: "Sure let's battle." 

Opal: "Very well then bring out your unique Torchic." 

Autumn: 'She was indeed serious about battling here it seems.' 

Autumn brought out Torchic's Pokeball and called him out for battle but before the battle started Autumn first took Torchic in his arms and said... 

Autumn: "Torchic this will be a hard battle, Let's give it our all." 

"Torchic" 

Torchic cried out in a more serious tone than usual. It knew its trainer was someone who will only become serious if there is a hard challenge in front. Torchic readied itself although it had got some experience from the battle yesterday, there was something wrong.

???????? ???????????? ???????????? ????????????????????????. It should have evolved but it did not Autumn was also a little confused at first but he came to a logical conclusion. It was because of the mutation Autumn could only think of this being more true than anything. First, he was a little worried so he checked Torchic's inner Aura if there is any problems but there were none. So, the only logical answer left was that his Torchic had different level caps than others which can be considered bad because evolution has a huge impact on any Pokemon. 

But there was slight merit to this. If Autumn can exploit this demerit then this would be a blessing in disguise. He could train Torchic in a way that it will make his Torchic more hardworking than other pokemon because other Pokemon got the powers early due to evolution but his Torchic had to wait longer which if he plans things out correctly then he could potentially make Torchic being more powerful than other in its different evolution stages after all evolution is like powerups in a way. And if a Pokemon is powerful in its pre-evolved form then oh boy imagine how powerful it will be when it evolves later on. 

(A/N: Exploit the initial debuff's effects and abuse the later buff's effect.) 

Opal: "Alright come out Alcremie." 

Autumn: 'Alcremie huh, if I remember correctly it's a fairy type. This is indeed going to be tough.' 

(A/N: Fairy types are stupidly op.) 

Autumn: "Okay guess we will make the first move. Torchic flame charge." 

Torchic was covered in flames and charged toward Alcremie. It landed a hit but still, Opal didn't call out. 

Autumn: 'Hmm what is she thinking.' 

Autumn soon saw some cream being st

uck in Torchic feathers and immediately understood the situation. 

Autumn: "Torchic retreat for now and use calm mind." 

Torchic retreated and used calm mind and increased its stats. 

Autumn: "Use flamethrower." 

Opal: "Alcremie use protect." 

Alcremie created a shield barrier to protect itself from the incoming flamethrower. 

Autumn:  * Tch " Guess I will have to take a different approach then. Torchic run around the field and use Agility accompanied by flame charge." 

Torchic started to use agility and Flame charge and soone enough its speed doubled no tripled. Autumn wanted increase Torchic speed so that it can outrun Alcremie and can do maybe some damage along the way. Opal also realises this and filly goes on offensive. 

Opal: "Dazzling Gleam" 

A powerful flash appeared and it hit Torchic as he was running in a close distance to Alcremie. Torchic was injured but not to the point of fainting. 

Autumn: "Torchic can you continue." 

"Torchic" 

Autumn:*nods "Alright then use Agility again and close the distance." 

Torchic ran toward Alcremie at a very fast motion and quickly appeared before it. 

Autumn: "Now use Flamethrower." 

Torchic used flamethrower Alcremie and it was a critical hit but that didn't alleviate Autumn's worries because he can tell that the damage done was not that much even if it was a critical hit. 

Opal: "You are really good that was indeed fast but now it's over. Alcremie use Dazzling Gleam." 

Autumn: "Torchic quickly retreat." 

But Torchic could retreat I time even with all the speed buffs it got and was delivered another blow and this time it fainted but Autumn wasn't sad he knew that this would be the result afterall. The level gap was high between his Torchic and Alcremie. 

Autumn: "Torchic come back." 

Autumn retrieved Torchic back in its Pokeball and Opal also did the same. 

Opal: "Now that was quite fun even thought it only lasted for a short time." 

Autumn: "Indeed." 

Opal nodded she knew that Autumn wasn't the like those kid who would feel down from just losing a battle. He was the kind of person who knew what he is getting himself into and also expected to lose from the start. 

Autumn: "So are you going to help Mr get to lab now." 

Opal: "Oya leaving already." 

Autumn: "I have to prepare for the upcoming event so yeah." 

Opal: "Very well then. I will arrange a Corviknight for you." 

Autumn: "That would be great help. 

Soon Autumn was picked by a Corviknight which specialises in carrying people from one place to other. This was quite common in Galar to use them as ride pokemon. Corviknight were extremely strong and Autumn was also thinking of getting one when he becomes a trainer. Autumn soon got back to lab and handed the cake he brought from Ballonlea city to Professor Magnolia which she said was unnecessary but still accepted it nonetheless. Autumn went to his room and also did a quick revision on his notes. 

The next day was also pretty normal Autumn followed his regular routine and Tommorow was the start of the competition between young talents from around the world.
