Chapter 39: Underground Arena

It has been some week since Autumn returned from his crazy adventure. The first thing he did was immediately head to the library and look through all the history records and to his assurance, there haven't been any changes to the history except for the fact that there is now a damn mural of him in a region.

Autumn: 'Well, at least on the bright side the world didn't have any major changes in the course of history. Glad that I asked Dialga to change the state of the River of time otherwise it may have caused a butterfly effect.'

Some months later...

Currently Autumn was in the lab doing research on Aura of this world. This research generally consisted of gathering information and news about any thing related to Aura. Some papers were scattered in the floor, some were arranged in a shelf and some were on the table meanwhile Autumn was writing something in his tablet.

*Typing noise

Autumn: 'Alright seems like I would be able to finish this file on time. The research had some good results eventhough it costed a lot of money. Gramps pretty much banned me from getting money from anyone which I understand why he is doing it. But Gramps you could have at least given me a leeway.'

Autumn could only accept the conditions that Oak had set for him without any complaints. It was actually quite a horrible experience for him in the first few weeks he had to first find a place to do research, second he needed to renovate that place and third he had to buy supplies to conduct research. Furthermore the place he is currently doing research is actually in the Oak's lab but the problem with it is that he has to pay the rent for goodness sake.

Autumn: 'I need to find a way to earn money because this will only last for a year before I have to do research outdoors.'

Autumn was soon finished with writing notes on his tablet which soon broke into small pieces and wrapped around his wrist to form a watch and how is that possible, its because it is made up of nano machines. Creating these nano machines were an absolute nightmare with what he had.

Autumn: *Sigh "It seems like I will not be able to recover financially from this for a while."

Autumn mumbled to himself in a small voice he was in dire need for money right now. It was a good idea in his part to just resort to  gathering information for the time being.

Autumn: 'Well its not that there isn't a way to earn money there are plenty of ways but the problem is I can't just do business to earn money with the funds I have.'

Right now Autumn had only about ₱ 30,000 which wasn't enough to open a business. He needed atlest ₱ 60,000 to start a small business the only thing he could hope right now is that by some stroke of miracle he could do something about his economic crisis.

Autumn: 'The best way to earn money would be pokemon battling but that's the problem I can't go out and battle unless I have a trainer id furthermore the only time I am free is during night time. If only I could-'

"Combusken"

Autumn thoughts were cut off by a sudden noise beside him it was Torchic who had become a Combusken. Torchic had begun training tirelessly after returning at first Autumn was concerned but after observing for a while and nor seeing ant problem with Torchic training Autumn left Torchic to do training on its own but did checked on him time to time.

Autumn looked at Combusken who in turn also looked back at him with a certain gaze which Autumn knows very well.

Autumn: "Let me guess you want to fight more stronger opponents don't you."

"Busken"

Combusken nodded to which Autumn could only response with a sigh. Truth be told Autumn himself wanted to bring his pokemons to fight with other pokemons but couldn't do it because he must follow the law.

"Bear"

Another voice also soon called out which didn't belong to Combusken but a small cute bear which had a head band around the temple of his head. It was Kubfu which also had a similar look to that of Torchic indicating he was also bored.

Autumn: *sigh "Okay I know both of you are bored and want to fight strong opponents but the feeling is mutual okay. Heck even I wish that I could just accelerate time."

*Knock *Knock

Autumn: '!'

Oak: "Autumn are you there?"

Autumn: "Yes Gramps."

Oak: "Great I have something to ask of you?"

Autumn: "What is it?"

Oak: "You see I recentlyaskeda friendof mine to custom make some pokeballs for me but it seems like those pokeballs are now in the Pokemart in Viridian City so can you get them for me?"

Autumn: "Sure I am done with my work so I will go get them for you."

Oak: "Thanks a lot."

Autumn then looked at Combusken and Kubfu and asked then whether they want to go with him to which they both agreed. Autumn then first decided to wear cap and a mask before he went outside because after he had become a Professor he was pretty much a celebrity and he didn't really wanted to attract any attention so he decided to put mask and a cap to just cover up his face.

Viridian City...

After making their way through Route 1, Autumn and his pokemons were on Viridian City. The city was quite beautiful and also home to the strongest gym leader in Kanto but Autumn was always suspicious of this place due to how mysterious the gym leader of this place is. But since he didn't came here to challenge the gym or to battle he decided to ignore it and went to the nearest Pokemart which he soon found after travelling around the city block.

While Autumn had just entered the Mart to get the pokeballs some figures were observing him from a few meter distance.
There were two of them in total and when Autumn entered they looked at each other before one guy spoke.

"Yeah, I did those pokemons they looked extremely rare."

"Do you what Pokemon are they?"

" I don't know but I know one thing and that is that we must get them."

"Yeah let's wait for that kid and follow him."

Autumn: "Thank you very much Uncle Mike."

Mike: "No worries little prodigy."

Autumn only smile wryly at this he had gained this nickname, 'little prodigy' after being the youngest person to become a professor but he also couldn't help but feel a little headache whenever someone mentions him like that.

Autumn: "Well I will be going then, take care."

Mike: "Oh yeah Autumn there is one thing I need to tell you"

Autumn: "?"

Mike: "There had been report of some hooligans hanging around the street so be careful."

Autumn: *nods "Thank you for the warning and don't worry I will be careful."

Autumn then left the store with the box which had Oak's custom pokeballs. Meanwhile the two figures who were waiting for Autumn decided to follow him. This didn't go unnoticed by Autumn but he wasn't sure whether this was a coincidence or not so Autumn deliberately took some unnecessary turns and after confirming that the two figures were actually following him Autumn decided to take action he took a turn to a small alley on the road. Seeing this one of the figures decided to move forward hastily so that they don't lose Autumn but what he didn't expect was when he was about to enter the alley he was grabbed by the neck and pulled inside. Seeing this the second guy also went towards the alley quickly to help his friend but was also grabbed by the neck and pulled inside the alleyway.

"What the hell?"

Both of the hooligans were confused but they were soon dealt a blow in their gut by Autumn which caused them to spit some saliva but didn't knock them out. They looked infront to see Autumn and his pokemons standing menacingly.

"Damn kid just you wait."

One of them pulled out a Pokeball and after seeing that the other guy also brought out his Pokeball.

"Go Rattata"

"Go Zubat"

They sent out a Rattata and a Zubat to which Autumn responded by sending Combusken and Kubfu.

"Rattata Quick Attack"

"Zubat Confusion"

Autumn: "Combusken use flamethrower on Zubat, Kubfu move in close and use close combat of Rattata."

Combusken used flamethrower on Zubat which was a direct hit and as for Rattata since it got to close Kubfu had a easier time executing close combat which caused Rattata and Zubat to be knocked out.

"What"

Both hooligans were shocked and finally understood that they picked up the wrong person to mess with they called their pokemon back and were about to run when Autumn suddenly appeared in front of them as if he teleported and used Karate chop to knock them out.

After knocking them down Autumn decided to check their body to see if they had something on them and found a similar card on their body which said, "Team Rocket".

Autumn: 'Team Rocket! Isn't that the organisation which who steal others pokemons?'

Autumn put the cards aside for and moment and continued checking and what he found was just some poke dollars and nothing else but when he checked the pocket of the shirt of one of the Team Rocket grunt he found a card of some sort at first he thought that it was a useless card but when he inspected the card his eyes widened for a bit and a grin form on his face.

Autumn: 'Interesting this thing can be useful.'

Autumn then decided to call the nearby police station and left the alley and since his face was covered he wasn't concerned with anyone noticing him and since the city lacked cameras he wasn't that worried. And after sometimes Officer Jenny arrived at the alley and found two unconscious men and after checking if they are alive and confirming it she heaved a sigh of relief but her mood suddenly changed when she found that they were a part of Team Rocket and apprehended them. But she also wondered who was the one who knocked them out.

As for Autumn he had reached back home after sometime and after delivering the box to Professor Oak he went to his room and brought out the card. It was black card with, "Underground Arena" written on it and it was also in Viridian City.

Autumn: "Great, I think I have found a way for me to train my pokemons and also earn some cash for my research."
