Chapter 40: Rules and Bonuses

Time: 9:15 PM. 

It was currently night and about the time that people and pokemon went to sleep. All the lights were off in the town and everything was peaceful but amidst the dark and silent night, a hooded figure was spotted under the moonlight. The figure seems to be that of a boy who was running in a very unusual way. The figure will suddenly disappear from sight and then reappear again and again. It was as if like the figure wasn't a person but a ghost.

Autumn: 'Well running away from home in the middle of the night looks like it's a success.' 

The hooded figure was of course Autumn who just ran away from home because tonight he was going to visit the Underground Arena. 

A few weeks ago... 

It was the time when Autumn had just delivered Oak's parcel and was inspecting the card more specifically a pass to enter and duel in a hidden Underground Arena. At first, Autumn did have thought of going to this place immediately but he decided to first do some digging on what he could find and to his expectations, he found nothing while searching about it on the public network but he did find about an abandoned subway station that was supposed to be built in the Viridian City to connect some Routes but was later abandoned because there weren't sufficient funds. 

Autumn had a gut feeling that the abandoned subway is where the Underground Arena lies and even if it doesn't then it would still be a win because he can make that place his hideout. Autumn soon reached the outskirts of Viridian City within a few minutes thanks to his skill but soon slowed down his momentum to not scare people. He then went towards the direction where the abandoned subway station was and soon found a tunnel with 'keep out' signs and the entrance being wrapped with this tape. 

Autumn: 'So this is the abandoned station eh, though I must say whoever put these signs did quite a good job putting the signs so that the public wouldn't go inside but I am surprised that none of the authorities checks on this place.' 

(A/N: I think that the police of the Pokemon world are not that great.) 

Autumn: 'Well that's just great for me but I will have to see whether my business here would be long-term or short-term.' 

Autumn then entered the tunnel making sure that he doesn't mess up how the tapes and boards are arranged. He then was greeted by a long path of steps which he descended making sure his boot doesn't make any noise. Although he wasn't afraid of battle he make sure that he came prepared so did wore a combat suit under the hood that he had made after returning to Kanto. 

The suit didn't have any special features like being able to be hidden from others' view, for now, it only had features like shock absorption but the amount it can absorb was quite small about the impact from a sniper but then the armour will break. Autumn had also made sure to make a silicon facemask to hide his real appearance as well. He currently looked like a young trainer with a tan skin complexion. 

Autumn soon reached the ground where there were no steps ahead then looked around to see whether there was something that was out of place and he soon spotted a bar on the other side. Autumn jumped across the other side with ease and appeared in front of the bartender who was cleaning some cups. 

The bartender looked at Autumn to observe him while Autumn was also observing the old bartender with a hint of interest. From Autumn's perspective, the bartender was very agile with his hands when cleaning the counter and also his fingers looked very strong it was as if the bartender in front of him has involved in multiple assassinations. As for the bartender from his perspective, he could feel that the young man in front of him was a very skilled fighter but that's all he could tell and nothing else. There was a brief moment of silence between the two before the bartender spoke. 

Bartender: "Glass or Clash" 

Autumn: 'Hmm although I want to duel with other trainers a drink wouldn't hurt.' 

Autumn: "Glass" 

Bartender: "Would you prefer it strong or weak?" 

Autumn: 'Well normally I would prefer strong but let's not overdo it for now.' 

Autumn: "Make it weak but not that weak either." 

Bartender: "Understood" 

The bartender then started to make a drink in a swift motion with an outstanding precision and soon a drink was in front of Autumn. Autumn just looked at the drink which was green in colour before lifting the glass and taking a good sip of the drink. 

Autumn: "Quite refreshing, I like it." 

Bartender: "Glas to hear" 

Autumn then took his time to enjoy the drink and after finishing it he looked at the bartender before speaking. 

Autumn: "Let's talk" 

The bartender's expression shifted from his usually calm face to a more solemn one. The bartender also brought out a note and a pen. 

Bartender: "Do you want to join as a duelist or do business with us?"

Bartender: "How much are you willing to invest?" 

Autumn: "₱ 50,000 " 

The bartender's eyes shine when he heard the amount it was hard for a business like this to earn money and when someone was willing to put in a huge sum then it was always a fortune. Truth be told Autumn had managed to sell some of his bots at a black market for a high price he currently had ₱70,000 he hand of which ₱50,000 he was willing to invest in this duelling Arena. Although it may not look like a good idea Autumn had his plans for it. 

Bartender: "I see then about you joining the duelling arena I can sign you up for free. Is there a request you would like to add?" 

Autumn: "Can I use a code name instead of using my real name?" 

Bartender: "Though it's not impossible for that-" 

Autumn: "How much?" 

Bartender: "₱2,000" 

Autumn: "Too much do it for ₱250" 

Bartender: "Sorry sir the best I can do is ₱ 1,750" 

Autumn: "₱ 450" 

Bartender: "₱ 1,500" 

...

...

... 

Bartender: "Last price ₱ 690" 

Autumn: "Deal" 

Bartender: "By the way what should I pit as your code name 

Autumn: "About that, leave it blank." 

Bartender: "You mean just leave your code name blank." 

Autumn: *nods 

Bartender: "Okay take this." 

The Bartender then handed Autumn a black card which was similar to the one Autumn got from the Team Rocket grunt. 

Bartender: "Also take this paper it has the rules you must follow while you are in this facility and it also has listed the bonus you get for being one of the donors for this facility." 

Autumn took the paper and the bartender opened a door for Autumn through which Autumn entered a narrow hallway. At first, it was silence but soon the sound of the crowd cheering and cursing could be heard. Autumn then finally reached the end of the hallway and was greeted by the sight of a huge Arena. 

Autumn: 'So this is the Underground Arena huh? Let's see what this place truly has to offer.'
