"I'm looking for a mage with black hair and hazel eyes in the mage's headquarters."
Noah tried his best to describe her, but the man at the front desk shook his head and shrugged. His brows scrunched up, not knowing what else to say. Back then, they didn't even introduce themselves, much less say their names to each other. Then he quickly said, "She's the one who came here with the hero."
It was only then that it clicked with the man, and he chuckled, "Oh, you mean the below-average mage? You should've said so. She's currently undergoing training at the moment. If you'd like, we can call her over."
"No, I'll go to her myself. Please tell me where the training area is."
The man wrote out instructions on a piece of paper and handed it to him before directing him over to the long hallway. Noah walked and walked, glancing at the map on the paper. There were training areas for all level of strength. Mages stared at him, seeing that the description of the hero was a perfect match to the man walking down the hallway.
Noah stopped in his tracks, seeing the familiar black hair. Next to her was a man, teaching her how to use magic. He could see the various envious gaze on them and saw the man lean over, whispering something in her ear. She slyly smiled and whispered something back that made the man look surprised. Then he let out a hearty laughed, clutching his stomach as tears squeezed out from the corner of his eyes. His hand patted her shoulders as he gazed into her eyes, saying something with a devious look.
Their faces was inches apart with noses that almost touched. Yet their eyes expressed mutual satisfaction, and a smile dawned on both their faces. A fervent feeling rested in his chest, eyes staring at the scene.
"Excuse me," Noah called out and walked over. They both looked at them, along with various other eyes. "Excuse me, I need to talk with her for a moment."
"Oh, of course. Hazel, let me know when you're finished. We can continue talking in a more private setting," Rue smiled and left them alone.
'Hazel,' he looked toward Yulia whose attention was now on him. 'I have to remember her name for next time.'
"My, I didn't think you'd come looking for me," she smiled at the pleasant surprise. "How are you doing? You are looking rather tired."
System 404: [You knew just how he's doing. Why bother to ask?]
'You make it sound as if I'm heartless. I'm not as cruel as to leave a young lamb crying.'
Indeed, he almost looked like he was on the verge of breaking down in her eyes despite holding it together. The overwhelming pressure to be a hero, the bullying behind the scene, and the out-casted treatment was all taking a toll on him. She heard it all from 404, but she was a below-average mage at the time, so she couldn't have gone to visit him. Never had she imagined that he would come instead. Perhaps, the only thing that was keeping him from breaking was his sheer will power.
"There's a garden near here. Let's talk there," she said and beckoned him to follow her.
After leading him and seating themselves at the pavilion in the garden, she created an invisible shield around the two of them. No one beside the two of them will be able to hear what they're saying.
"How is the palace? I heard that you've met the saintess. Didn't my prophecy come true? She's quite lovely, isn't she?" Yulia said, recalling how 404 told her that the heroine was talking to open air, which was most likely the system that others can't see.
"The saintess..." he paused. No words came afterward, and she could tell that he wasn't the most impressed about her.
'Oh dear, I guess she didn't make much of an impression on him.'
System 404: [You speak as if you're rooting for her.]

'How's his affection bar?'
System 404: [2%]
'Are you serious?'
System 404: [All I did was detect his affection bar. It's certainly at 2%.]
She looked at Noah, wondering what the heroine did to raise his affection to 2%. Then she asked, "Noah, how are you feeling? What do you think of the title bestowed onto you so far?"
"So you knew my name," he glanced at her calm face and then looked towards the garden. Well, it didn't matter anyhow. His name and face had mostly become well-known. During the time he was there, he had seen it all: Pretentious people, scheming nobles, and strings that slowly tangled his limbs. Now come along that odd saintess who had quickly approached him with sparkling eyes. It all felt... "Burdening."
His response was a murmur in the wind, and he wished he hadn't came to the palace at all. But if the hero doesn't show up, then there's no one else for the people to rely on. A commoner he was, but no one could argue his fighting abilities. It was the only thing people wouldn't mock him for.
"Do you want my help?" Yulia asked.
A serious expression rested on her face for once, and seeing it for the first time, Noah couldn't help but feel stirred. Out of all gestures of help, he felt inclined to take hers. Why did he even come to visit her? Ah, that's right...
'I just wanted to see a familiar face who wouldn't lay traps for me.' His mind wandered, and he lowered his eyes in shame.
His answer was all she needed to know that his title of being a hero was more heavy than expected. Her hand raised to pat his soft hair, and he looked at her, almost astonished that she was treating him like some kid. She softly smiled and assured him: "Don't you worry, little lamb. Your older sister will take care of everything. Focus on your objective. I heard that the first demon subjugation with you will be within two weeks."
System 404: [Host, don't tell me you plan to—]
"The king is getting anxious, so I'm sure he'll have you journey into the demon's territory and slay the demon king if your first subjugation goes well. If I'm able, I will come along," she stopped patting his head and began to put together a plan.
System 404: [You're doing the unnecessary again, host. But have it your way, I'll find a new suitable body.]
'You're already preparing for the worst? You've been with me for a long time, but you still can't trust that I'll do it?'
System 404: [If you're doing things outside of your main mission or duty, you tend to act risky. Sometimes, you even drag me into it to complete it ┐(´д`)┌.]
'That's called utilizing every tools, 404.'
System 404: [Whatever. Also, I have some new information regarding the demon king, though it's little.]
"You're not my older sister, so you don't have to do anything," Noah unknowingly interrupted their conversation. Then he repeated, "You don't have to anything... at all, Hazel."
