Chapter 1: Prologue

If you were sent into the world of one of the novels you have read, what will you do?

Many of them would go to the main protagonist so that they might be able to gain the benefit of the plot armor.

In some cases, they would move to the other side of the story or steal the role of the protagonist.

The next option would be stealing some flags from the protagonist so that we could get stronger ahead of him/her or survive the world.

And if possible, we could at least pick up their losing heroines or even take the main heroines for ourselves.

But they were possible under a few circumstances.

First, you were sent to a place relatively safe. It would be game over if you ended up appearing on the plate of the last boss’ dinner.

Second, you were sent to an area that was Good or Neutral to your stances like an adventurer city or a rural village.

Third, if you underwent a racial change, you were changed into a race that was not hated or persecuted by the locals.

Fourth, you’re not too ugly to be presented to society.

Fifth, in case you had a cheat, system, or status plate, they were still able to be presented to the public. Keeping a secret tends to be revealed afterward either by chance or the plot twist after all.

Now let’s check out our situation.

First, we were sent into a dark place that looked like a cave. The era, state of things, or affiliation of the nearby people were unknown. As for the danger level, it would be better if we say that it was the bad side.

Second, there were no people nearby so I couldn’t check the affiliation of the locals.

Third, it seems like racial change didn’t occur so let’s skip this.

Fourth, I didn’t have the means to look at my face so I couldn’t be sure either.

Fifth, I couldn’t find a way to bring it out for now.

Okay, 5 out of 5 scenarios said that I’m screwed. Even my not-too-reliable gut feeling told me to get out of that place as soon as possible.

I sighed and scratched my not-too-well-cared long hair above my head. Looking to my left and right, there were just two pathways along the dark cave leading to somewhere. My unreliable gut feeling couldn’t give me an answer on which way to go but the path to the left had a feeling of going down while the other one led to the higher ground.

“Let’s see… caves like this are usually formed underground. In that case, going upward should be a better choice than the other one.”

I muttered. I felt that my voice was kind of different than usual but that was not important. I needed to get out of this place as soon as possible.

I traveled through the narrow cave while looking out for my steps so that I didn’t trip or step on anything funny. My careful yet carefree journey was cut short when I was given another trial in the form of two different pathways with the same vibe.

There were few outcomes regardless of whichever I choose. First, both lead to the exit (optimistic outcome). Second, one of them connected to the exit (realistic guess). Third, both are traps and will lead me to a death flag (pessimistic outcome).

Since I took the right side earlier, I decided to pick the left one now. I threaded carefully through the uneven pathway once again. But, unlike before, this time I heard some sound from the end of the road I walked in.

“Finally there’s someone to talk with. Hopefully, we speak the same language here.”

I said to myself. The sound and presence came from beyond the turn not so far ahead. I walked there and tried to call out to the other person but I stopped midway when I saw the other side’s figure.

“Excuse me, can you tell me where the exi-“

“Gya~?”

A short green-skinned person(?) leaked a strange-sounding voice. His bald ugly face turned toward me as the disgusting drool leaked from his mouth.

“Ah, never mind. Please go on ahead. I’m going to take this way then.”

I quickly said and hastily made a U-turn toward the way I came from. The strange voice of the creature came from behind me. Even without looking back, I could tell that our green friend was looking for me to be on a dinner menu.

I ran as fast as I could and made a sharp turn on the forking pathway earlier hoping that it would lead me to the exit. I kept running ahead until I crashed into someone at the sharp turning point in my sight earlier.

I fell on my butt from the collision and so did the other side. I tried to get up and apologize but ended up in a cold sweat when I saw the victim of my reckless charge. Usually in the manga when you collided with someone at such a place meant that you have triggered a fateful encounter with your mate.

However, instead of the fatefully romantic encounter, I got the fatefully dangerous encounter instead. In front of me, another green guy was trying to get up.

“Shit!”

I quickly got up in hurry and attempted to make another U-turn but the green guy from earlier was still persistently running behind my trail. In other words, I was caught in a pincer attack with no sign of escape route.

Comparing the two possibilities and available choices, I decided to bet on the road where I had crashed earlier hoping that the green guy was caught off guard and let me slip past him safely. I dashed with all my strength through the gap between the green guy and the wall.

“Gyagyaaa~!”

Of course, this sudden movement of mine startled the opponent. Thanks to that I was able to get past him a few centimeters before I fell when I felt an impact behind my back. I rolled on the floor a few times from my momentum.

I probably got a large bruise from the attack and some scratches from rolling on the ground judging from the pain I felt throughout my body. If this was an RPG game, that attack might have taken a chunk on my HP meter.

I tried to regain myself but my hair was yanked and another impact came to my right cheek. The impact was so strong that I almost fainted from that attack. Although I didn’t faint from that, my consciousness was fading.

“Gyaa~!”

The green guy’s nasty scream was the last thing that came to my ears before I passed out completely.
