Chapter 2: Chapter 1

I woke up and felt the pain throughout my body. It was so painful that I groaned a bit from it.

“Oh, did you wake up?”

A voice from a lady came from the end of the room. I looked in her direction and saw a woman with mid-length brown hair glaring at me grumpily. She had long pointy ears that made it so clear that she wasn’t a human.

“Umm… where is this?”

I tried asking.

“Before I can answer that, let me ask you this. What’s your name and what were you doing in the dungeon despite not being an adventurer or a part of any Familia?”

The woman asked with a kind of irritated tone.

“My name is it? It’s- ugh!“

When I was about to mention my name, a sudden stinging pain came to my head. I was shocked. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t remember my name before I was sent to this place for some reason.

“What’s wrong? Did you feel pain somewhere?”

The woman asked in worry. It seems like her irritation disappeared for some reason.

“I can’t… remember…”

I said with a low voice.

“Eh?”

“I can’t remember anything, my name, or why I was in that place.”

I added.

“Did she get amnesia from being hit in the head?”

She muttered in low voice.

“Then, can you tell me the last thing you can remember?”

“The last thing? Hmm… I was just staying in my room reading a book when suddenly I was wrapped in light and ended up in a dark place. After that the green creatures- ugh!”

I shivered when I recalled the experience inside the cave.

“That must be a scary experience. It’s alright, it’s safe here.”

She suddenly hugged me tight to assure me. The sweet smell drifted into my nasal and I felt rather calm. Slowly but surely the throbbing pain inside my head was subsidizing. And during the daze, I suddenly recalled something.

“A…kira”

“What?”

“Akira…. My name is… Akira”

I said weakly.

“Akira-chan is it?”

“Yes, umm… thank you for saving me, Miss umm…”

“Ah, I haven’t intStaffuced myself, have I? I’m Eina Tulle. I worked at the Guild as a receptionist. Also, I wasn’t the one who saved your life. The one who saved you was the rookie adventurer under my care.”

She explained. I froze when I heard her name. I dig into the deepest of my memory about the keywords mentioned in the last few sentences earlier. Guild, Dungeon, Adventurer, and Eina Tulle the half-elf Guild Receptionist. Those keywords were enough for me to determine what kind of world I was sent to.

‘Dungeon ni Deai Motomeru no wa Machigaitteru Darou Ka’ translated as ‘Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon’ which was also known as ‘Danmachi’. It was a light novel written by Fujino Omori that told a story about a young man who dreamed to be a Hero. It was quite an interesting story and even when the anime was airing the Goddess that took the protagonist in was also waifu material.

But, depending on the time, things might be dangerous as dangerous people were lurking around namely ‘Evilus’. The monsters as well as the other Gods with screw loose also might cause unnecessary danger for me if they knew I came from another world.

“Is something wrong, Akira-chan?”

She asked worriedly. Ah, it seems like I fell into a daze. No good she might get suspicious of me.

“Ah, no, it was kind of a curious thing for me. Who is the guy who saved me earlier?”

I  said half lying. I could guess that it was probably the white-haired protagonist with bugged luck who had saved me but the current ‘me’ shouldn’t have known that guy’s name so let’s play fool here.

“Ah, he’s called Bell-Kun by the way.  He’s a cute boy and a caring person. He might have acted heroically when he saved you so don’t fall for him alright?”

She explained.

“Hee~ is that so~”

I said flatly. But suddenly something bugged me. The way she called me earlier and then the way she warned me, suddenly I felt a bad premonition somehow. I slowly raised my hand to my bosom.

Muni~

It wasn’t as big as Eina-san’s but there was an unfamiliar bulge on my chest. My other hand also traced downward to my nether region but was unable to find the thing that was supposed to be there.

“It’s gone…”

I said in despair.

“Did you remember something? And what do you mean it’s gone?”

Aina asked worriedly.

“Out of all kinds of possible changes why the fuck it must be a gender swap one!!”

I screamed out of my mind. I quickly blanked out and realized what I had screamed earlier. I rigidly turned toward Aina-san.

“Gender Swap?”

She was also shocked.

“You’re a male?”

She asked while pointing at my face.

“As far as I could remember, I was supposed to be one.”

“Then, why did you become a girl?”

“I don’t know.”

I slumped to the bed and covered my face with both of my hands. Aina-san was at a loss for words to respond to that. But, suddenly an insight came to my mind.

“Ah, that’s it! The dungeon! There might be a clue at the place where I woke up! I just need to go back there and find a way to turn back.”

I said excitedly.

“Sorry to bust your excitement but I’m afraid I can’t allow you to go there.”

Aina-san said coldly.

“Eh~ why~?”

I said disappointed.

“It’s not ‘why~’ me!! Didn’t you just almost die in that place? In the first place, there’s no way I will allow a civilian who is not part of any Familia to enter that dangerous place!”

Aina-san scolded me hard. It’s too bad that she scolded me but she got a point there. Going back there would be a suicide in my current state.

“Aina-san, this is Bell. Is the girl alright?”

A young boy came inside the room. He had white hair and red eyes just like in the anime. His innocent look was also close to 100% of how I had envisioned him to be.

“Ara, Bell-Kun, she just woke up.”

“He-Hello”

I involuntarily got flustered.

“Hello, I’m Bell Cranell.”

“A-Akira-desu.”

I suddenly felt disgusted with myself. Why did I become flustered against another dude?

“Ah, thank you for saving me earlier.”

“Ah, no, no problem, Akira-san.”

Bell said with a slightly reddened face.

“What did you get flustered for, Bell-Kun?”

Aina-san called out.

“Just for you know, Akira-san is a guy on the inside.”

Aina-san without any reserve dropped a bomb on the adolescent boy.

“A guy?”

He pointed at me and looked between me and Aina-san in confusion.

“Although I became a girl due to an incident, I’m a real dude on the inside.”

I added.

“Seriously?”

He was dumbfounded.

“By the way, Aina-san, about your earlier statement. If I managed to join a Familia, would you allow me to enter the dungeon?”

I asked.

“Well, depends on your ability. If you’re too weak despite being a part of a Familia, I’m afraid I can’t allow you to go inside.”

“I see… I wonder how I join one?”

I wondered.

“Ah, Bell-Kun, since you saved me in the dungeon, does that mean you’re part of a Familia?”

I asked him in excitement.

“Yes, I’m a member of Hestia Familia.”

“Then, while at that, can I ask you to intStaffuce me to your Familia?”

I asked him half desperately. After all, I knew that joining a Familia without any distinct talent or backer would be difficult normally. But, this guy’s Familia had no other member but him.

“Well, I kind of able to intStaffuce you but my Familia is a bit you know…”

Bell sounded hesitating somehow.

“Well, I have nowhere to stay or anyone to rely on so please…”

I asked him desperately.

“Well, for now, let’s ask Kami-Sama first before that.”

Bell said.

The original plan was to visit Hestia-sama right away but due to Aina-san’s nagging, I had to delay it till medical personnel gave a quick check-up with a good result.

And so, we finally went to the Hestia Familia’s base which was an abandoned church on the next day. Bell led me into the building and inside I was greeted by a lady with an amazing aura and monstrous knockers on her bosom.

“Ah, it’s nice to meet you, Kami-sama. My name is Akira. I owed my life to Bell-kun for saving me in the dungeon.”

I politely greeted her. She was glaring a dagger at me.

“Umm... Kami-sama, with the utmost politeness, let me state this first, I have no interest in Bell-kun over there.”

I said.

“Hah~ What are you talking about? There’s no way, a damsel in distress like you wouldn’t be interested in Bell-kun. You must be hiding your intention behind that wicked smile.”

Hestia quickly rebutted my words.

“With upmost respect, Kami-sama. Please let me explain. In the first place, I’m not interested in Bell-kun as a person but I didn’t have any romantic interest in any male at all. After all, in the first place, I’m a guy myself. Although, for some reason, I became like this.”

“What kind of nonsense you’re talking about? Just you know, lying before a Goddess is- whoa, it’s true.”

It seems like Hestia-sama just looked into my soul. Hopefully, she didn’t find out that I was from another world but if she did, there’s no helping it.

“Then, with utmost humbleness, I would like to ask Kami-sama’s benevolence to let me join your Familia.”

I asked.

“Well, I don’t mind that but as you can see, my Familia is small. The only member we have is just Bell-kun over here.”

Hestia-sama explained.

“In that case that would be no problem. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about myself either. Aside from knowing my name and the fact that I was saved by Bell-kun in the dungeon, I almost have no memory of who I am and where I came from. Perhaps the damage on my head from the monster attack or the aftereffect of whatever caused me to be sent to the dungeon had taken most of my memories about my past self. In that regard, I would like to ask Kami-sama to let me join your Familia so that I can enter the dungeon to find a clue about my identity.”

I begged her.

“Well, If you insist that much, I don’t mind.”

She said.

Hestia asked Bell-kun to leave us alone for some time. I took off my shirt under Hestia-sama’s order and revealed my back to her. She touched my back and a warm feeling enveloped my body. It wasn’t just my back but my whole body.

I was dumbfounded when I saw the status window in front of me. Compared to Bell’s status on the first episode of the Anime my stat was nothing. I mean it wasn’t even a double-digit. But, unlike Bell, I had 4 initial skills although their ability was quite absurd.

“What the heck is this?”

See? Even Hestia-sama was surprised.

“Is something wrong, Kami-sama?”

I asked while pretending to be worried.

“Well, your stats are not that great at first but for some reason, you already have 4 skills on birth. Although three of them are passive, and the last one sounded difficult to use, I believe you can use them properly.”

“Yes, thank you Kami-sama.”

I compared the numbers written by Hestia-sama and the status window. The status written by Hestia-sama however didn’t include charm and luck for some reason. But, since the two weren’t directly related to the direct combat I bet they might be a hidden stat or something like that.

Ah, if I wasn’t mistaken I’ve gotten a [Random Memory Ticket] didn’t I? I began rummaging through my pocket and found a small piece of paper in my back pocket.

“Hmm? What is this? Rip to use?”

I was dumbfounded when I saw the words written on the paper.

“What’s wrong, Akira-chan?”

Hestia-sama asked. I showed the ticket in my hand but when she was about to take it from my hand, her hand passed through it as if it was just an illusion.

“Eh? Could it be it was only touchable by me?”

“Seems like it. Why don’t you try to rip it as it says?”

Hestia-sama suggested. Well, I’m also curious too. Well, here it comes.

The moment I ripped it off, the paper disintegrated into small particles and entered my body.

As soon as the announcement appeared, I was wrapped in light and as soon as it disappeared, I could tell that my body had returned to being a male’s. Even my feminine outfit automatically changed into a male outfit.

I opened and clenched my fist to reconfirm whether there was any discomfort. Also, I had a hunch that I could use my fourth skill at the current state.

I muttered the chant that appeared inside my head as I tried to activate the aforementioned skill. A small magic circle appeared behind my left hand and a 40 centimeters long Staff manifested in my hand. I tried to move it around in my hand and felt no discomfort from it.

“Ooh, that was an interesting skill there. How is the mana consumption for this ability, Akira-kun?”

Hestia-sama asked.

“Hmm… I barely feel any change judging from my small amount of mana. I bet I can do some fight against those green-skinned bastards now.”

I said confidently.

“Although I allowed you to go diving in the dungeon, don’t overdo it alright? Just having a reckless Bell-kun is already worried me enough you know.”

She warned me.

“I understand, Kami-sama.”

“Umm… Can I go back in already?”

Bell’s voice came from the door.

“You can come in now, Bell.”

Hestia-sama called out. Bell peeked through the doorway and was dumbfounded seeing my male figure.

“Yo! I guess I’ll be in your care now, Bell-senpai.”

I greeted him.

“Woah, is that your real appearance, Akira-kun?”

Bell looked at me in awe. In my female form, our height wasn’t that much different but my male form was quite a bit taller than him. If I wasn’t mistaken, he should be around 14 years old now so I was by age should be 2 years older than him.

“You looked cooler in that form.”

Bell said with sparkly eyes.

“Well, this much is normal at my age. Well, how old are you now Bell-senpai? I’m 16 years old by the way.”

I asked him

“Please stop with senpai, Akira-kun. You’re older than me and even though I started being an adventurer earlier, it was just a week since I started.”

Bell said scratching his head.

“Well, it wasn’t wrong though that you’re a lot stronger than me.”

I added.

“Well, how about you two form a party for a few days? Just to make sure Akira-kun got used to diving in the dungeon.”

Hestia-sama suggested.

“Hmm… that might not be a bad idea. So, I’ll be in your care, senpai.”

I said to Bell.
