Chapter 4: Chapter 3

The next morning, I woke up with full spirit. As per what we had planned before, Bell and I headed to the dungeon as Hestia-sama went to her part-time job. As per the story told, our Familia was poor that even our Goddess had to work to make sure our Familia could survive.

According to Bell, we were poor because our Familia was newly established with Bell as the first member who joined a week ago. It means that the current setting was still a few days before the main story started. Maybe, with my current cheat, I can overtake him before he awakened his broken first skill, [Realis Phrase]. That was with such thought in mind as I cheerfully followed our protagonist to the battlefield.

But, I was too naive.

I forgot that even in the first chapter of the main story, Bell's agility had reached triple digits when it was revealed for the first time. It was obvious that my measly 19 points of Agility wouldn't be able to keep up with him. He was able to swiftly do hit-and-run tactics against two goblins by himself while I was only could watch him killing them with his dagger.

As for why I didn't do anything right now was that Bell told me that he would teach me how to fight a goblin. His excited look was too adorable even for a guy like me to say no to him. As expected from a harem protagonist. No wonder even the Goddess of Love herself would be obsessed with this little guy.

"How was it? Did my method help you to figure it out?"

Bell asked excitedly after he was done with the goblins.

"That was quite helpful, Bell."

I couldn't help but lie to him. I didn't want to break his spirit after seeing how excited he was.

"But, from what I see during the battle, I think it would be best that we split up and hunt separately."

I said weakly.

"Eh, why?"

Bell looked at me with a surprised look.

"That is-"

When I was about to explain, a goblin appeared in my line of sight. It hadn't realized our presence yet so I thought I can do a preemptive strike and land a critical hit on the first try.

"Maybe showing it directly would be faster."

I said. 

"I desired for the strongest Ardor"

I chanted with a low voice. My trusted crystal Staff appeared in my hand. I held it in my right and activated the only skill unlocked in my [Archive Skill] list.

"[Battle Stance]"

It was kind of weird as this skill needed to be voice-activated. This skill was like passive support that would automatically fix my fighting posture so that I could land a proper hit on the enemies without any risk of injuring myself from bad posture and muscle movement.

I spun my body to gain enough centrifugal force and landed a preemptive strike on the goblin. The goblin didn't die right away as I used a blunt weapon. Had it been a bladed one instead, this fella would have died from the critical strike on the neck. But, my attack still succeed. The goblin lost its balance and fell to the ground.

Like a professional martial artist in the movies, I spun my staff and swung down another strike into the goblin's skull. Yesterday, my measly 1 digit strength needed a couple of strikes in the head to kill a goblin but now, I just need 2 strikes in the head to finally finish it.

As soon as the goblin died, a notification popped out. My body was wrapped in light. My vision changed slightly and when the light dissipated, could guess that my gender had changed once again after seeing the meager mound on my chest. My staff disappeared and in its stead, a sword appeared on both my left and right hands.

"Bell, how is my fight?"

I asked Bell in my feminine voice. As expected, I couldn't get used to having such a voice that I felt a bit discomfort.

"That was a good fight but how should I say it..."

Bell was at loss about what to say to me.

"It was slow, right? I know."

I cut him before he could find a proper word.

"Yes..."

Bell said dejectedly.

"That was why I suggested we parted ways in the dungeon and hunt separately. That way we could cover a larger area and hunt more monsters. I bet Kami-sama would be happy if we can bring more money for our Familia."

I suggested. I dispelled my magic to save some magic power. The swords disappeared and used my empty hands to grab Bell's shoulders.

"Let's do our best, alright? For our Familia."

I said with a smile.

"Ye-Yes..."

Bell suddenly became meek for some reason. 

"Then, see you later."

I said as I headed in a different direction besides the path Bell had chosen. I concentrated on my audiovisual capability to detect any enemy. I threaded the dungeon slowly and tried to find any goblin that I could kill. I felt a bit anxious from threading this place by myself. To be honest, jumpscare wasn't really my stuff even in my previous life.

I stopped when I could hear a goblin's cry nearby.

"I desire for the strongest Ardor."

I summoned my swords. The transparent swords were around 70 cm long each. They were quite transparent that almost looked like a fragile glass imitation that would snap anytime. I tiptoed and followed the source of the sound.

"[Battle Stance]"

I activated my skill and swung the sword on my right toward the short bipedal creature. Unlike the time I used a Staff as a blunt weapon, my swords were sharp and blood spurted out of the carotid artery on the goblin's neck. The surprise attack was successful but I was caught off guard when I attacked and failed to notice a second one nearby.

The second goblin angrily swung its weapon at me. I quickly put the sword on my left to block it but my awkward posture wasn't strong enough to block the momentum I got pushed back and lost my grip over the sword in my left hand. I rolled a few times on the ground and tried to stand up.

The surviving goblin picked up my sword and compared it with its club. It grinned at me and threw the club to wield the crystal sword in its hand. It looked like I was at disadvantage but as you knew, my swords were made from my magic. I dispelled the sword just a moment before the goblin cut me down.

"Too bad for you, that wasn't something you can wield."

I said to the poor goblin. I sent an uppercut into the defenseless jaw if all my might. The lightweight goblin's body flew backward from my attack.

"I desire for the strongest Ardor" 

I summoned my swords again. I stabbed the goblin that tried to stand in the middle of its brow. Needless to say, that ended up my second battle of the day. I never thought that hunting a goblin would be so exhausting. Maybe, I need to train to increase my stamina after this.

I rested my back against the dungeon wall as I tried to recover my stamina and magic power. Today, I already hunted 3 goblins. Compared to yesterday, it was still much better. Besides, I still could hunt for more after this.

"Oya, oya, what do we have here? A damsel in distress in the middle of a dungeon."

I heard a man's voice come from the path on my left. I looked at the source of the voice without turning my head.

"Ojou-chan, are you in a pinch? Did you get separated from your comrade?"

A slightly bulky man asked me. From his expression, he without a doubt up to not good.

"Thanks for the concern but I'm just resting here. Please move on and don't disturb me."

I said to the man.

"Is that so? Then, how about I accompany you with your 'little' rest? Perhaps I could help you relieve your fatigue with my massage skill."

He said while looking at my body. Alright, that's three 'out' without a doubt. First, the face was disgusting even for a man like me. Second, that pick-up line he used was without doubt the words of a person with a criminal record. Lastly, those hand movements without a doubt showed up his bad intention toward me.

I knew I was going to meet someone like him someday but to think it would be so soon was surprising me. I guess Orario needed a better security measure against scum like him. Now that he is here, my mood to have more time to rest was ruined. 

I stood up and looked at him with disgust.

"I'm not interested. Please ask another person to ask out."

I said before turning my back to him as I left. This was of course a bad move. I secretly activated my [Battle Stance]. My posture got fixed into a combat-ready one and my battle senses sharpened.

"Like I'll let an easy prey like you escape! Get her!"

The man said. As expected, he wasn't alone. Two lanky men ran towards me. I didn't know how high their stats were but facing them head-on would be a foolish move.

I summoned my swords in hurry and pointed the tip at the assailant who was rushing to grab my body. With smooth movements, the two adult males got skewered by the swords that appeared out of nowhere. They looked at their stabbed chest in disbelief. I pushed them back with all my might and pulled out the bloody swords.

"Ugh, that was disgusting."

I said in disgust.

"You! What have you done!"

The bulky man shouted angrily.

"What? That was self-defense on my part. I'm not that naive to be caught without a fight right?"

I talked back.

The man gritted his teeth. I poised my swords in a battle-ready stance. The man glared at me. I was about to attack him again but when a few footsteps came from behind me, he hesitated and decided to flee. A group of adventurers with a Japanese vibe came from the direction the footsteps came from.

They looked at me and the two dead bodies warily. I was relieved when I saw the faces I recognized from the anime and novel came to my sight. They were members of Takemikazuchi Familia. It seems like they were just returned from their expedition.

After ensuring that my safety was ensured, I let go of my swords and let them fall down on the ground. My stomach got revolted and I threw up the content of my stomach nearby. Seeing my reaction, the girl in the ponytail quickly approached me and helped me up.

My hand trembled from the shock. I didn't know whether my female physique and hormones had affected me but it was a scary experience on my part. Furthermore, my hands had without a doubt reaped a human life just now and intentionally at that. Ugh, I want to vomit again.

The people from Takemikazuchi Familia were kind enough to escort me back to the surface. They brought me straight to the guild and Aina-san quickly took over my custody after seeing my state. I couldn't say anything until Bell and Hestia-sama picked me up from the guild. Aina-san wanted to ask me about the detail but seeing my shaken state she decided to postpone it for later.

Later that night, Hestia-sama updated my status right after dinner. It was quite awkward as Bell felt responsible for separating from me in the dungeon. Although I kept telling him it wasn't his fault this pure guy would definitely blame himself for it. I felt so weak that night and Hestia-sama who worried about my well-being embraced me until I fell asleep.
