Bell and I left our home and headed toward the center of the city. The tall tower that could be seen even from beyond the protective wall of Orario was called the Tower of Babel. As far as I could catch from Bell's explanation, the tower had various functions, and both the guild and the dungeon entrance were located there.
"Well then, shall we go in?"
I asked Bell.
"We can't just go in there like that, Akira-san. This is your first time diving into the dungeon so it might be better if we visit the guild first."
Bell reminded me.
"The guild, huh? I hope I will get Eina-san as my advisor."
I muttered as I followed the high-spirited Bell toward the guild entrance.
"Eina-sa~n"
Bell called his advisor cheerfully.
"Ara, Bell-kun. Are you going to the dungeon again?"
Eina-san replied with a smile.
"Yes, I plan to dive into the dungeon with Akira-san."
Bell said while looking toward me.
"It's nice to meet you again, Eina-san."
I greeted her.
"Hee~ So, you're a man. Well, if you're going to dive into the dungeon, better prepare yourself first before you're going. Otherwise, you're going to repeat your mistake and go back to the infirmary like yesterday."
Eina-san warned me sternly.
"Ye-Yes..."
I said weakly.
"Ah, also, can I have myself registered as an Adventurer too? And, if possible I want Eina-san to be my advisor too..."
I suggested.
"Hmm... I can help you with that. Also, knowing how peculiar your background was, I doubt I can hand you over to another staff to handle."
Eina-san explained. She took the registration form from the desk and showed it to me. I filled in the name on the blank as well as the age but my hand stopped when I was about to fill in the other column. It was kind of awkward to fill in the rest, especially the gender, race, and birthplace.
"Uh... Eina-san."
I called my advisor right away.
"Is something wrong?"
Eina-san approached me.
"About these parts, I kind of troubled about how to fill them."
I said.
"Which part?"
Eina-san took my registration form and frowned. It seems like she could understand why the birthplace and gender were empty but she was dumbfounded when she looked at the race column also empty.
"Say, do you still have some time? I think we need to talk about your registration in detail inside the private room."
She said. I smelled trouble coming just a moment before the dungeon diving even started already.
"Bell, it seems like my dungeon debut would be delayed. You can go ahead today. I think my registration would take longer time today."
I said while pointing at Eina-san who waited for me to follow her into the private meeting room inside the guild.
"I see... then, good luck, Akira-san."
"You too, Bell."
Bell left the guild toward the dungeon entrance. I went to Eina-san and followed her inside the guild. She put my registration form on the desk and looked at me questioningly.
"Let's get to the point right away. I can understand that you're troubled about your birthplace as I know you lost your memory. I also can understand that you're troubled with gender as I have seen that you transformed from female to male yesterday. But, this is the first time I have met someone doubtful about his race."
Eina-san asked me.
"That is uh... There's a proper explanation for that. Due to my skills, there's a possibility of me turning into something else entirely, based on what Kami-sama explained earlier."
I tried to explain.
"Skill? You have the skill already?"
Eina-san looked at me in disbelief.
"Ye-yes. Four of them to be precise."
I added.
"This is absurd already. Are you a human?"
Eina-san said with a tired look.
"Ye-yes, for now. I'm positive that I'm a human."
I said with a bit of doubt about whether she would believe me or not. I began explaining about my [Fragment Historia] skill and my [Rift Historia]. Eina-san listened to my explanation carefully and closed her eyes.
"This is the first time I heard such absurd skills. I might need to discuss it with the guild master later. For now, I think you're clear to go."
She said.
"Really? Thank you very much, Eina-san!!"
I bowed deeply in gratitude. It wasn't wrong for me to choose her as my advisor.
"Seeing how honest you're right now, kind of makes me wonder why you have brought such big trouble so easily."
Eina-san muttered.
"Well then, Eina-san, I'm going to run after Bell in the dungeon right away."
I said as I make a U-turn to the exit when my shoulder got gripped strongly from behind.
"Wait a moment over there. You're going to the dungeon? Looking like that?"
Eina-san's menacingly asked me. I felt a chill through my spine. I looked at my outfit. My outfit was more or less an appropriate look for an adventurer in my opinion. That is of course with the absence of weapons and armor on them.
"What about your armor? Are you going into the dungeon without them?"
Eina-san was scary when she glared at me while asking me about that.
"Uh... I was copying Bell. He also didn't have anything like that with him."
I gave her a random excuse.
"Bell is still wearing a leather armor on. That's much better than your armorless equipment! Also, I've reprimanded him over and over to get better equipment for it."

Eina-san lectured me.
"Then, what about weapons? You're not saying that you're going in empty-handed right?"
Eina-san asked me with a sharp glare right into my eyes. My shoulders were gripped strongly that escaping was never an option, to begin with.
"There's a deep reason for it, Eina-san. I can't hold weapons because it would become a burden for my Familia if I had to bring them every time I'm going to dive into the dungeon."
I explained.
"That's not a reason! Come with me!"
Eina-san dragged me through the hall. She talked with another guild staff about her planned sudden absence and my situation. The staff looked at me with pity for some reason and when I looked back at the guild staff, they were giving me their condolences as I was dragged by Eina-san to the closest weapon store with slightly affordable-looking weapons.
"I'll lend you the money for now. So choose one of those daggers at least for protection."
Eina-san said while pointing at the piles of second-hand equipment in the corner.
"Umm... But, Eina-san, they will break you know. I mean literally."
I said reluctantly.
"If you don't want to pick one, I'll do it for you."
Eina-san stubbornly chose a dagger with a decent look among the piles and forced me to hold it. I kind of hesitant and just as I expected, as soon as I hold the dagger, my third skill, [Midas' Lament] was triggered. The blade of the dagger suddenly cracked and comically snapped and left behind a bladeless hilt in my hand.
"Umm... This is why I said I don't want to burden my Familia's budget with my weapon expenses. My hands are banned from wielding them."
I said weakly.
"You should have mentioned it earlier..."
Eina-san said weakly seeing the broken dagger.
"Is something wrong?"
The shopkeeper came hearing Eina-san's cry.
"Ah, tenchou-san, umm... I'm sorry, the dagger broke."
I said.
"Hmm? Lemme see... Uwah, what did you do? How come it becomes like this?"
The shopkeeper looked dumbfounded as he took the broken dagger from my hand.
"Umm... I'm sorry my skill got triggered when I touched it earlier. It was something like a skill that would corrode any equipment I hold."
I tried to explain to the shopkeeper.
"So, it's your fault? Then, pay up, lad."
The shopkeeper said menacingly.
"Umm... Tenchou-san, actually it was me who forced the dagger on him so I'm also at fault. Please let me pay it up instead."
Eina-san interjected.
"Are you sure about that, Eina-chan?"
The shopkeeper asked.
"Yes, it was my mistake forcing him to hold it despite his explanation."
Eina-san apologized to the shopkeeper.
"Well, actually it's fine. Those junks are already at their ends after all. I ain't charging you for them."
The shopkeeper said.
"Thank you very much, Tenchou-san!"
I thanked him deeply.
"BUT! This is the last time you broke my wares. Alright?!"
"YE-YESH!!"
"Good. Ah, since you can't handle the weapon, how are you going to fight the monster from now on lad?"
The shopkeeper asked curiously.
"Ah, in that case, I had no problem at all. I still have the skill to make it up."
I said. I raised my hand and chanted.
"I desired the strongest ardor"
The familiar magic circle appeared behind my hand and an almost transparent crystal staff appeared in my hand. Suddenly, I felt a chill in my spine. I looked back and saw Eina-san's pissed-off look.
Ah, now you mention it. It was the first time I show and explain my skill to Eina-san. As the result, I got another serving of sermon from Eina-san. After resolving the registration problem, I was allowed to go to the dungeon. To be honest, I felt a bit languid to dive the dungeon but I also need to test my abilities against monsters too.
"Maybe a little skirmish at the shallow floor won't hurt."
I said to myself. I descended the spiral staircase.
I re-casted my [Ardor Historia] and summoned my Staff. I threaded the first floor carefully and leisurely as I knew from the story plot that besides the monsters, there might be some 'bad guys' who like to hunt some rookies instead of monsters.
"gyaa?"
I spotted a goblin at the same time it spotted me. There was almost no distance between us so I reflexively swung my crystal staff right into its skull. I didn't have that much strength in my stats for now so my swing was on the weak side. But, my lucky strike had landed square on its head and caused a concussion on the goblin's head.
Without missing the chance, I swung my staff again like a madman. The monster's blood was splattered everywhere on each strike I threw at the goblin. I stopped when the goblin finally disappeared into black ashes leaving behind a small purplish magic crystal.
<<FIRST PREY HAS BEEN SLAIN>>
<<A NEW MODIFIER HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE SYSTEM>>
A new notification popped out of nowhere. It kind of surprised me.
"A modifier huh? I hope that my crystal staff didn't get nerfed because I didn't really have anything else to hit my enemies."
I said to myself. I tried exploring the rest of the cave by myself but couldn't find even a single goblin until Bell found me on his way back from the deeper area. Although it was early, we decided to return to the surface for today. In the end, today's earnings completely fall into Bell's and Hestia-sama's hands.
Compared to Bell's, my pathetic single magic stone is worth almost nothing. Bell comforted me for the rest of the night. After the routine of the status check, which of course should have resulting no change on mine after the checkup finished, my system showed my stats before Hestia-sama finished writing what she saw on my back.
My eyes bulged open when I saw it for the second time. My previously pathetic single-digit stat had become double digits in a day. As far as I knew, I didn't have a cheat skill like Bell's [Realis Phrase] but it seems like my system was just another form of a cheat if you ignored the risk of being gender-bended or even transformed into some kind of monstrosity.
So, in the end, I could finally get a good night's sleep after pretending to be surprised by Hestia's announcement about my rapid growth.
