The Guild Hall trial camp has a variety of terrains where future adventurers conduct their guild examination. As for its location? Zeus had no idea. His consciousness was suddenly swallowed into this place that looks like nothing he imagined.

From what he could sense, the humid air seemed to be coming from below. The floor he was standing on emitted gas like smoke but in reality, it was just countless fleeting ashes. Based on this information, something must have been burning down below.

"Since Kayn recommended you, I'll alter the rules. You can't complain as you're the one who went through the backdoor."

Gram's cold voice echoed in his head before appearing a few meters away from his position holding a black block pointing towards Zeus. On the other hand, Zeus was in the middle of an open space surrounded by four stone statues.

The statues were 3 meters tall, with large physiques, and resembled a golem with a human-like head. There were cracks in their bodies and holes as if they would crumble at any time.

Feeling the cold ominous aura emanating from these statues, Zeus' muscles tensed. It wasn't killing intent but it contained traces of hostility as if it would strike him any time.

"15 minutes…" After a brief pause, Gram resumed, "No, I'll lower it to 10 minutes. Survive against these statues in 10 minutes and you'll pass the exam. I won't give you any written test as that's too boring, so entertain me with your performance."

"Wait, how strong are these statues?" Zeus looked at the statues feeling quite nervous.

"Borderline 2nd Order probably." Gram calmly replied. A chair materialized behind him and he sat there with his feet crossed together.

"2nd Order Monsters?"

Gram shook his head. "Not a genuine one but like half step 2nd Order—something like that. That rank doesn't really exist so these statues are considered 1st Order based on rankings."

"I see."

Zeus closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking at the statues. There are no signs of movement but energies started to gather near its heart. Vibration shook the ground, slowly increasing in intensity as time passed.

Then, in a sudden motion, the statues finally moved.

Crack!

The ground below their feet cracked as they began to move their limbs. The statues' eyes glowed red as if they entered a combative state.

"Try not to die, young man." Gram said as a reminder.

At that moment, the golem started moving in his direction. At first, their movements were stiff like slow motion but as they got used to it, their movement speed hastened really quickly.

Zeus gripped his staff and assumed a stance. The 'enhance' skill was already activated, boosting his overall physical performance.

"Let's see…"

Once the statues closed the gap between them, they started throwing punches. Like slow motion, these punches smashed towards Zeus' position.

Bam! Bam!

The heavy punches slammed through the ground, accompanied by a loud bang. Zeus evaded it with ease by leaping backwards. At the same time, he's observing the patterns of these statues.

'It moves fast but its attacks are too slow.'

Zeus wanted to see if these statues had tricks hidden in their sleeves. After all, they might just be warming up. However, after 5 minutes of waiting, he felt disappointed.

'I don't even need to attack.'

He already memorized the pattern of their attacks. At this rate, even if an hour had passed, they wouldn't be able to hit him. Unless his stamina ran out, these statues had no chance of winning.

Bam! Bam!

The ground exploded and rubbles flew from all directions. As he was already getting bored, Zeus decided to take the initiative.

Swoosh—

After dodging a punch, he leaped through one of the statues and aimed his palms on top of its head.

At that moment, a golden magic circle condensed in his palms intertwined with yellowish lightning.

[Thunder Spear.]

A two meter lightning spear shot towards its head.

Shring!

Bam!

The spell destroyed a part of its head but it wasn't able to kill it. As a response, the statue swiped its arm above attempting to swat Zeus away.

However, Zeus already anticipated this. He jumped down all the way to its feet and coated his staff with his aether.

"How about this?"

Zeus bashed the weapon with a powerful swing.

Bang!

The staff slightly bent due to the sheer force of that attack. To his surprise, the statue's stone leg exploded, destroying its established balance.

However, Zeus followed it with another strike to its already broken head.

Boom!

At that moment, the statue stopped moving. Dumbfounded, Zeus looked at his hand.

'Was the increase really that much?'

Since he awakened his aether, he hadn't really had the time to measure his strength. He thought the increase wasn't that much.

'Can I beat 1st Order Monsters alone now?'

While Zeus was lost in thought, the three statues didn't hesitate and took advantage of this opportunity.

Unfortunately, Zeus was a different breed.

His perception, coupled with his combat experience, honed his instincts in anticipating dangerous attacks.

Therefore, even without looking, he easily avoided these attacks without trouble.

"This is boring."

However, with his remaining time, Zeus used these statues as training dummies. Spells were fired here and there and every time it appeared, the spell was slightly stronger than the other.

[Lightning]

[Thunder Spear]

His proficiency with these two spells rapidly increased. Over time, his control of [Lightning] started to become skilled. At this rate, his spell would be stronger enough to kill these statues!

Unfortunately, his aether is not unlimited.

…

"Where in the hell hole did Kayn get this kid?" Gram muttered in shock as he witnessed how Zeus easily destroyed his test.

'And what was that casting time? That was almost an instant!'

It's not like instant casting is impossible. Many people could do that with enough practice while some had an innate talent for it. However, for those not blessed with talent, instant casting requires the perfect mastery of the spell.

What shocked him the most was the fact that Zeus' spells seemed to have no casting time!

'Not only did he awaken a cardinal element but also a genius sorcerer as well. But that attack earlier shouldn't be possible.' Gram recalled how Zeus smashed the statue's leg. 'Was his weapon an artifact?' He asked inwardly.

Honestly, he's willing to believe that Zeus' weapon was an artifact. If it's not, he might as well abduct this kid and train him to become the greatest human the world has ever seen.

'He's not tired either. This is a walking humanoid monster!' Gram's eyes burned hot as he stared at Zeus' figure. 'Why does that bastard always get the best of the best?'

"The ten minute is over. Did I pass the test?" Zeus asked Gram, waking him from his daze.

"Ah, that's right."

Gram immediately deactivated the remaining two statues and they stopped moving at his command. Zeus was totally unscathed through this whole ordeal.

"Cough—, To be honest, I have no hope of you passing this but you refreshed my views and surprised me with your strength." Gram smiled and continued, "Congratulations Zeus. You have passed the examination."

"Although I'm happy that I passed, I wanted to ask what the original test was. The one everyone needs to do to become an adventurer." Zeus asked as he put his weapon behind him.

"Ah, that one?" Gram grinned mischievously, "A written exam, killing 10 mutated rabbits and collecting herbs. After that, they'd be granted an F-rank Adventurer License."

"..."

At that moment, silence pervaded the area.

…

Sometime later, Zeus' consciousness was pulled back and they appeared in the familiar room. There's no sign of him being moved. As such, he wondered if he got teleported or not.

Gram was already sitting in his office chair signing a card on his desk. After that, he handed it personally to Zeus.

"Here's your license. You'll need this if you want to leave the kingdom or accept missions from any guild branch we have out there. Don't lose it."

"Thank you." Zeus accepted his license that has the same size as his I.D. Written on it are his name, rank, merit points, and missions completed.

[Adventurers Guild (Main Hall)]

[Name: Ambrose, Zeus] [Realm: Novice (Mid)]

[Rank: E-rank] [Merit Points: 0]

[Missions Completed: 0]

[Signed By: Gram Ambrose]

After seeing the signed name, Zeus' eyes bugged out. He rubbed his eyes just in case but the name remained the same.

"You…you're an Ambrose?!" Zeus asked in shock.
