The Rain Village is a village located on the southern side outside the capital. And, out of all villages in the entirety of Rocco Kingdom, the Rain Village is the most popular one.
Many believed that it was cursed due to its unusual weather where rain drizzled almost 24 hours a day.
However, despite this unknown phenomenon, the village never became flooded. As such, many suspected that it was a curse while the villagers treated this as the works of god.
Coming from the manor, it took him at least 3 hours using a horse at full speed to go to the Rain Village. The time could have been reduced if he used air transportation but unfortunately, he couldn't bring Shelly due to the flying restrictions in the capital.
Tap, tap—
As Zeus slowly approached the village ahead, raindrops gradually fell on his body, slowly soaking it wet.
Tap, tap—
Zeus raised his head. The skies already darkened and heavy clouds drifted above the land.
'Such gloomy atmosphere…'
Tap, tap—
The rainfall became heavier and the temperature gradually decreased. Chilling winds howled from the east, carrying raindrops and they splattered onto his face. Zeus wanted to take cover but he was already far too soaked to do so. As such, he just quickened his pace.
Neigh!
A few minutes later, Zeus finally arrived at the Rain Village's entrance. It wasn't as grand as the capital barricade but rather, just woods piled upon to block enemies. Two guards were stationed here but they were just sleeping under the shade of a hut. They didn't look powerful either.
Zeus jumped down off of his mount and walked toward the guards.
"Excuse me."
One of the guards opened his eyes and looked at him with a puzzled gaze.
Zeus' eyebrows twitched. He felt sorry for the villagers having such lazy protectors guarding their safety.
Zeus sighed before continuing, "I'm an adventurer from the capital. I was sent here for a mission so I would like to stay here for investigation."
The guard's eyes narrowed sharply. After inspecting Zeus for a bit, he leaned back on his chair, nodded, and went back to his sleep.
It seemed like Zeus' mission was just a trivial matter to him. Even then, since the guard nodded, Zeus took it as permission. Therefore, after finding shelter for his mount and his baggage, he entered the village with a serious expression.

Zeus opened his system and checked the map. As expected, the places where he didn't go yet were blackened. On the other hand, part of the capital and Beastial Mountain Peak were opened. Additionally, there's also a red dot indicating where he's currently at.
After checking the map, Zeus surveyed the area around him.
'Where do I start?'
Due to the rain, the villagers were inside their houses with both doors and windows closed. It would be hard to find someone to talk to unless this rain ends.
What's more, this village is also known to be contaminated with plagues. People were afraid of this as it might affect their families once they were infected.
However, that's also because these people are just regular humans. Villages such as this have no sorcerers or knights to protect them. Even if they have one, they probably would have gone to the capital in hopes of getting stronger and earning more money.
Just look at the guards. They were probably chosen because they were physically capable.
While Zeus was lost in thought, suddenly, the door of one of the houses burst open. A man exited the house in the middle of the street and he screamed in panic.
"Help doctor!!!"
Hearing the terror from the man, Zeus turned his head immediately. The man was holding his left arm which had already turned purple and was swollen.
'What happened?'
Subconsciously, Zeus grabbed his weapon and clenched it tightly in his palms. Without hesitation, he dashed through the rain and rushed towards the man. Water splattered through the ground as Zeus stepped on the water-filled puddles, soaking his pants even further.
Even then, he didn't even bother with that.
The man kneeled on the ground as he yelled in pain once again. Veins began to pop off of his left arm as if it would explode at any time.
"Help me! Please!!! Help me!!!" The man screamed in agony. However, he couldn't do anything but cry. Powerlessness shrouded his body seeing no doors opened for him.
But,
"Hey, are you alright?!"
Zeus' voice awakened the man. He raised his head and stared at the young man before him. Tears welled up from his eyes as if he had seen the light amidst the darkness.
"Ple…ase… Help… me." The man pleaded.
"Tell me what I could do." Zeus urged the man as he tried to find a way to reduce his pain.
However,
"Ahhhhh!!!"
The man's left arm ballooned even further. His bloodshot eyes trembled. He attempted to control his body but his motor nerves already stopped functioning.
At that moment,
"Young man! Get away from him! He's already infected!!!" A middle-aged man with gray hair and dressed in a white coat got out of one of the huts and roared.
"Doctor, you're here!" The infected man shouted. "Help! I… can't hold it anymore! Please!...I'm begging you."

Zeus looked at the doctor's reaction. His eyes narrowed.
The doctor gritted his teeth, struggling to suppress the helplessness in his expression.
"Benjamin, I'm afraid I can't help you anymore. The plague has already penetrated through your body system and you're going to turn to one of those monsters too…"
After hearing the doctor's words, as if the world suddenly collapsed, the man's pupils shrunk. His body convulsed as an expression contrary to what he showed earlier appeared on his face.
"You!!!" The man felt betrayed. "Aren't you a doctor!? Why can't you do anythi—, ahhh!!!"
The man's body twitched and an unknown energy gathered through his head. As he was sensitive to aether, Zeus noticed this but couldn't make a conclusion.
"Young man, stop dozing around and get away from that man!"
At that moment, Zeus couldn't take it anymore.
"Why are you shouting like a pig when you should be helping him!?" He yelled towards the doctor.
Taken aback, the doctor clenched his fist and lowered his head.
"He's hopeless."
"What do you mean? You're a doctor." Zeus muttered. "It's your job."
The doctor shook his head, "Indeed, I am a doctor… but I'm not a god. Once the plague has infected the body, there's no hope of saving them. I could alleviate their pain and reduce the time of their transformation. However, I can't save them from their inevitable outcome."
Zeus lowered his head and glanced at the now transforming man. His limbs produced a cracking sound, deforming into something akin to a monster. Calling him a man wasn't even appropriate anymore as he looked like a hideous creature now.
"What is his outcome?" Zeus asked softly.
The doctor paused for a moment before continuing, "Death."
Silence permeated the vicinity. Zeus already kept his distance from the creature that now resembled a hideous zombie. The man that was crying earlier finally completed his transformation.
Clenching his palms tightly, Zeus asked, "What happens next?"
The doctor raised his hand which had a talisman on it. It's a one-time item that even civilians can buy. Inside of it were spells.
"I will slay him before he could infect others."
Zeus remained silent.
"We have no option." The doctor added.
"I see." Zeus nodded. "Save the talisman and let me do it. I'm an adventurer so you can rest assured that I can do it."
Without waiting for the doctor's answer, Zeus trudged towards the infected man—a zombie.
At that moment, the zombie issued a loud cry and charged toward Zeus. Its mouth opened showing its rotting tooth.
"Guaaahhhh!!!"
Zeus raised his weapon.
"It's not your fault."
As soon as their distance gradually narrowed, Zeus slammed his staff to its head, killing it in the process. In a blink of an eye, the zombie died.
Thud—
Its huge body fell on the muddy floor and the water splashed around.
Tap, tap—
Rain drizzled down the village washing the blood away. The zombie broke down and began to turn into nothing but bones.
"May your souls find peace."
Zeus turned around and followed the doctor for more information. He understood that this mission was far more complicated than he initially thought.
Tap, tap—
The clouds continued to cry as if the heavens had forsaken this village.
"Doctor…" Zeus looked at the doctor with a complicated expression. "What the hell is happening here?"
