Chapter 3: World’s Protagonist.

Windmill Village.

Two little boys with pipe on their backs walked through the small roads of this rural village.

Often, some pedestrians will warmly salute the two boys.

The small port village with rustic wooden houses, few windmills and multiple docks showcase a rare peaceful sight.

"Ace, hurry up... Uta is waiting for us!"

A little yellow-haired boy in a blue noble uniform said urgently, as he pushed the the other pink-blonde haired boy.

"Sabo, stop pushing me! I told you licking dog have no future."

Ace, clad in a black vest and brown shorts, looked towards his friend, and couldn't help but complain.

"What licking dog? So vulgar! I'm clearly showing my honest feelings..."

The boy called Sabo retorted with a loud tone, as his eyes glazed.

"Uta chan!"

Ace looked at him in disgust.

Three years passed since the last time. Ace is already nine years old.

A year ago, in one of his hunting tours, he met Sabo, and they became friends.

The notable part that should be mentioned is that, Ace guess was right.

'This is an alternative world. There is no Luffy. Shanks already came here a month ago, and even his daughter was brought down, but there is no sight of Luffy. I even asked Garp, and his answer clearly proved that Dragon didn't gave birth to any son.'

'It's more logical this way. At least all of Roger plans would pave the way to his own son, rather than making a wedding dress to his rival's grandson.'

"Uuuuutaa chan!!"

Sabo loud voice broke Ace train of thoughts.

Raising his head, they were already in front of Party's Bar.

Beside the door, there was a cute Loli standing there, waving at them with an excited face.

The little girl hair was half-red and half-white, her eyes were purple. Her ears were covered by white-colored futuristic headphones with blue lines decorations.

The girl trotted over with an excited face, as she throw herself in Ace's hug.

"Ace... I miss you."

Uta hugged Ace tightly, as she looked at him with bright eyes.

The sound of something crushed could be heard.

Ace and Uta soon found the source of disturbance.

"Sabo kun, are you alright?"

Uta asked cutely, not knowing that she was the culprit.

"Yes, yes..."

Sabo answered in a sobbing tone.

Uta looked at him with a pitying gaze, as she patted his head.

"Sabo, I'll sing you a song, so stop being sad."

Sabo nodded vehemently.

Ace took the sticky Uta away from his body, as he pushed the bar's door.

"Hahahaha..."

"Makino San, your cooking is as always, too delicious."

"Captain, you should recruit Makino San as our chef!"

The rowdy bunch were quite enjoying their time, while not forgetting to create some chances for their captain.

The moment Ace entered, the crowd went silent for a while, then broke in a loud laughter.

"Captain, your love rival is here!"

"Ace, show mercy!"

"Hahaha, poor captain, both the daughter and 'future' wife are abducted."

Makino on the other side of the bar counter looked at this lively crowd with a helpless smile.

"Ace, did you come alone? Where is Sabo?"

Makino asked with a warm smile.

"No, I came with him. He is 'courting' Shanks daughter outside..."

Hearing this, the crowd exploded in laughter.

Ace approached the bar counter as he took a seat beside Shanks.

"Tch, useless guy... Makino, I want meat!"

After throwing a despising look at the clueless Shanks, he asked for some food.

"Kid, what's with that look?"

Shanks looked at the strange boy besides him, and couldn't help but complain.

Actually, Shanks came here with a clear objective.

More than ten years ago, Roger gave him a prophecy.

And based on this, he already got the 'rubber' fruit, and came to this town to look for its righteous user.

He already had a clear idea about this 'individual', but he was still reluctant.

He at least wanted to pretend a wave, before passing over the devil fruit and the straw hat.

Sadly, this not so cute child gave him no chance.

"Thank you Makino. You will be a great wife. I am quite envious of your future husband."

Ace said with a childish smile on his face, which brought black lines on Shanks forehead.

Makino ruffled his hair, as she looked at this precocious child with a funny look.

The bunch of pirates behind started shouting and all kind of ridicules could be heard.

"Hmph, a bunch of turtles..."

Ace readily ignored them, as he engulfed the meat.

Shanks beside him looked at him with a focused face, and couldn't help but ask.

"Ace, are you interested in becoming a pirate?"

The bar turned silent. Beckman looked at his captain with sharp eyes, full of scrunity.

Ace looked at Shanks in surprise.

"You mean an 'idiot' like you?"

Shanks eyes were full of seriousity, which clearly cut any turnaround answer.

Ace looked at Shanks full of momentum, and was amazed.

"I didn't expect an idiot like you to be so swaggy!"

Honestly, although he knew that Shanks was quite 'Haki', but feeling it, is completely another experience.

He looked at the serious looking Shanks for a moment, only to sigh helplessly.

"I can only be a pirate."

Shanks was taken back, the same as Beckman and the other crew mates.

But Shanks didn't explore much, but he continued to ask.

"What about your dreams?"

"Don't you want to become the pirate king? Rule over the seas. Your talent, you can surely do it."

Ace answered with a deep tone.

"End this pirate era..."

Shanks eyes shone with intense light.

'End this pirate era?'

Shanks looked towards the child in shock.

Shanks clearly knew how scary the child in front of him. That's why he easily conclude that he was the man in the prophecy.

Still, his answer shocked him.

"What? For what reason?"

Ace stopped for a moment, savoring the meat in front him, then he threw an explosive answer.

"Well, you can say it's a debt. Since 'he' started it, I can only surpass him by making an end to it. As for ruling the sea... I'm not really interested.

I only wants to live freely, freer than anyone in this sea.

No, I will not only live freely, I will make all my friends and relatives enjoy the feeling. I will make the whole world savor this feeling."

As Ace kept talking, the bar started vibrating. His spirit seems to resonate with his words, almost affecting reality.

Shanks and his crew looked at the boy in shock and awe.

Shanks looked towards Beckman, and he seems to grasp something.

"Hahahaha! Well-said! Freedom Kanbai!"

Shanks laughter brought Ace out of his reverie, as his gaze towards Ace was full of respect, pride and tenderness.

'Ace... Captain, you really knows how to play!'

Shanks thought inwardly, as his laughter grew more unrestricted and joyful.

Makino looked around the crowd that seems in a very good mood, so she stopped herself from asking if there was an earthquake just now.

Soon the bar was full of joyful mood.

Sabo and Uta joined later on.

Uta's voice was quite heavenly. By her participation, the banquet was brought to another level.

Time passed by.

Ace, Sabo and Uta played for months along, and their friendship grew more solid.

Today, on the dock of the village, the loud cries of children could be heard.

Sabo and Uta were crying loudly, and even Ace felt a little bit uncomfortable.

"Shanks, why not stay a little more?"

Ace looked at Shanks, and said in a low voice.

"Hahaha, even you kid have this cute side? I thought you will send me away with a firecrackers."

Shanks laughed happily. He looked towards Ace for a moment, he took away his hat, plus a blue treasure chest.

"There is no eternal banquet in this world."

"Who cares about you? Just leave Uta behind."

Said Sabo from the side. He was clearly hating Shanks for taking his friend away.

Shanks wisely ignored Sabo, as he put the hat on Ace's head.

"Ace, your dream is difficult, very difficult. But I believe you can do it. This hat is something very precious to me, I will gave it you. One day, I hope you stood in front of me and return it back. At that time, I hope your dreams comes true.

As for this treasure chest. It's something that will surely help you in your future endeavors."

Ace was quite moved, but he still didn't forget to molest him.

"Thank you Shanks. I will take care of Makino on my side."

Shanks almost fell, as the crew behind him laughed cruelly at his state.

Ace took Uta in a long hug, he approached her ears, as he said in a low tone.

"The day you become a royal sister, brother will come to marry you ..."

Uta looked at Ace in daze, only to run away with red face towards the docking red ship.

She would often look back and waved away with a shy face.

Shanks left.

Ace watched the disappearing red force, his heart was surging and his blood boiled.

He also wanted to go in an adventure, gather a bunch of like minded friends, sexy girls and live a deprived life.

Ace looked to the still crying Sabo, as he took him in a hug.

He knew that wether Shanks, or Uta.

There will be a long separation period.

Looking at the straw hat, the rubber fruit, these two items of luck, Ace smiled wildly.

He was officially promoted to the world protagonist.

Another life guarantee. At least, Destiny won't put him on an execution trial unknowningly.

Returning back along with Sabo to Makino's bar, he found that her eyes were still a little red.

"Makino, I want meat!"

Ace said heartlessly.

Makino smiled tenderly, as she started cooking.

Ace opened the treasure chest, and there, the legendary rubber fruit, laid unpretentiously.

If it was another time, he would never ate it. After all 'weakness/curse of the sea' is undesirable even if the fruit was 'God' class.

However, two years ago, getting the 'Horse' charm (that almost nullify any 'abnormal state', restore and heal), he can take it with confidence.

...

Taking a bite, his face turned green.

"Disgusting..."

Ace said with an ugly face.

'Well, at least I achieved my childhood dream. I tasted the devil fruit.'

Makino soon brought the delicious barbecue.

Ace hurriedly left everything behind, and started swallowing along with the sad Sabo.
