Chapter 2: Chapter1: Death

Chapter 1

A young man looks up at the stars with tears welling in his eye, snow falling upon his dying body and the ruptured land it lays upon. His last moments filled with regrets as memories of the life he lived surfaced.

‘Why the hell did it have to be this place. Why couldn’t they just send me to do a desk job? But noooo, “You’re the best we have!”, “We need you for this mission!”, “Would be easy considering your record.”, “We’ll be done in less than a night!” they said. Well fuck all of you!!!’ 

‘I was going to get married, have beautiful children, maybe even raise dogs like my mom did. After all I had been through, after all the shit I did to live, it was finally supposed to be my time to live like a normal person.’

Using his last functioning limb, the disfigured young man reaches towards his breast. He struggled to hold out the one thing always on his person. A picture of a beautiful girl smiles back at him, that of his soon to be wife. 

‘I felt bad when she asked me to marry her. I told her that I didn’t love her and she burst into tears. I was telling her how it didn’t matter how I felt, only that she was happy in the end when she FUCKING STABBED ME!!!!!’ 

“Heh-*cough*-heh”

‘It is funny when I think about it. All through the ride to the hospital I was telling her I would marry her if she wanted me to and how I would always be faithful to her. I almost couldn’t believe my ears when the doctors told me I had a brain tumor. “Benign” they said, but it was probably why I couldn’t feel anything and why my memory was shit.’ 

“It doesn’t matter now, I won’t get to experience life like a normal person after all. I wish I could at least say goo— *cough*”

‘Even without this piece of scrap in my chest, the shattered leg and melted face will ge-‘

Thinking of how his life was, the man last thoughts were full of indignation. Be it life or death, he wouldn’t get a happy ending. At least that is what he thought.
