Chapter 16: Chapter Sixteen – Oaths and Plans

I stood still as a statue as Eurycelia kneeled on the floor before me. For a moment she held the back of my hand against her forehead before pulling it down to place a kiss upon it.

“As reward for saving my life, I Eurycelia Kirati Bezmelnazir offer it to you. From now until the end of your days I will be your loyal retainer. To the best of my abilities, I will use my power to carry out your will. Upon the blood of my ancestors, upon my spirit etched with the virtue of dragons, and before the divine paragons, I swear the eternal oath. I Eurycelia Kirati Bezmelnazir belong to you, Bernice Edelberg.”

As soon as she ceased speaking a glowing icon of a three-headed dragon appeared at the center of Eurycelia’s forehead. Then after a moment, the same symbol appeared upon my hand.

As soon as the mark appeared I felt an intense warmth circulate throughout my body. Then the warmth slowly vanished, as did the marks upon Eurycelia and I.

“Now use [Analyze] on her,” Otrea instructed. “If the oath was successful it should say so.”

“Understood.” I nodded willing [Analyze] to activate.
