Chapter 20: Chapter Twenty – Strolling Through the Capital

Living in Otrea’s caverns where only a handful of halls were paved with stone left me not knowing what to expect from this world. I expected some kind of medieval fantasy, what I didn’t expect was just how developed everything was.

At least within the city of Lorepashe the roads were paved with matching cut stones. Buildings towered three and four stories high and many people seemed to be using magic. One woman was using a spell to carry her groceries. While a carpenter was using it to stick to the side of a wall he was in the process of repairing.

“Can everyone use magic?”

“Most can,” Eurycelia replied. “At least eighty percent of the population is born with an innate skill for magic. Another fifteen percent or so can learn it with some difficulty. Only about five percent are truly invalid and incapable of magic. Which reminds me, what is your anima currently Lady Bernice?”

“I don’t remember, just a second.”
