Chapter 47: Chapter Forty-Four – Unintended Consequences

“Big Sis~!!”

After passing out listening to Rysa’s story, I was awoken by Eskame shaking me violently. It seemed with each shake of my shoulders she was growing more desperate. Her constant calls for me slowly devolving into an unintelligible mess of sobs.

“I’m right here,” I replied, surprised at how raspy my voice had become. Lifting my arm to pat the little fox’s head I couldn’t help but wince at how badly it ached, and it wasn’t just my arms. My whole body was sore as if I’d just completed the hardest workout of my life.

If this is what it feels like to gain levels with a cheat, I’m not sure I ever want to do it again.
