I remembered that I always hated how I lived my life, constantly repeating the boring tasks that were assigned to me as a secretary with a small income.
"Secretary Yu, do this. Secretary Yu, do that," this was the life of a slave-driven secretary of a big-shot CEO. I got so used to it that I hardly had time to think for myself.
So, as a result of my restless life, I died. It was that simple, lack of sleep and malnourishment could do that to a person. I remember while I was drawing in that last breath; that I wished I had tried to do what I wanted to do. If only I had a more satisfying life, only then I would have been happy.
I never expected that once I opened my eyes again I'd find myself in an unlikely predicament. The area surrounding me was grey, I could slightly make out a least a thousand bats around me.
I was completely taken aback and just assumed I was dreaming. Let's get a hold of myself, that was the only answer to this situation. Right, there's no way I'd suddenly become a bat!
I laughed it off and closed my eyes. When I opened them again in hopes that I was back in my office, I was highly disappointed.
What is with this situation? Did I die, for real? It was hard to believe, but this seemed all too real. The smell, the sounds, it all had a sense of realism that was hard to ignore.
What do I do now? With my vision, I can barely make out the interior of the cave. All I can see is the outlining of bats and if I change the lens of my iris then I can see the heat signature of living things around me.
These are the basic abilities of a bat, so it's confirmed that I was no longer human. If I could get a better sense of my surroundings that could help, maybe find a small pond to take a look at myself.
Let's test out these wings. I didn't need to struggle with how to use them, the wings were like hands and could be used easily. I spread them and swooped down from the cave's ceiling.
This was my chance to have a look around. It would be much better to study the cave's interior, so I could get a feel of the place I will call home.
Since everything lacks color, I assumed I would have a difficult time, but thanks to another basic ability of a bat I was doing better than I expected.
Using my nose and highly attentive senses I'm able to easily navigate through the cave. It turned out to be much deeper than I thought.
I followed my nose until I found a water source, a small river that lay deep inside the cave. I landed on the ground and peered into it. Despite my vision being grey I could see that I was indeed a bat.
Sure I had already figured that out, but seeing it was a whole different matter. The reality of it finally sunk in, but I got over it pretty quickly.
It's not like I can change the fact or anything. I let out a heavy sigh, I can't believe that I lost my humanity just to live my life as a worthless animal.
Could things get any worse?
It was moments later that I found myself getting trapped in a spider's web. It's not like I didn't know it was there, it was the fact that I assumed I would be able to break through.
It turns out that the web was sticker than I imagined, not only that it was oddly larger than normal. What kind of spider could leave such a massive amount of web?
I wriggled fiercely to let myself loose, not knowing that I was in danger.
Because even deeper inside the cave, through tunnels, and down below in the deepest of pits something horrible is sleeping. One can see the many eyes that glowed red in the dark.
They could hear the breathing of something large as it creeps from the shadows into the little bit of light that shined from the moon through the small cracks in the cave.
It senses its prey from the vibrations of the thin web attached to its behind. Judging by the vibration, it must have caught something big.
I on the other hand confirmed that there was no getting out of this web. I eventually tired myself out trying to pull free, and that's when I realized it.
If not for my highly sensitive hearing, I never would have heard the sound coming from somewhere inside one of the tunnels of the cave. Whatever it was, it was getting closer.
My little bat heart was pounding fiercely, and the short fur on my body stood as if it sensed the danger nearby.
But even if I knew it was coming, there was nothing I could do but await my death once more.
It was coming, I can vaguely hear it now. It was in the same room as me, somewhere on the ceiling. If I could I'd be sweating bullets right now.
If I switched to my heat vision I can make out where the danger was on the ceiling, as my regular vision was no help. It's there, but what is with that size?
Where are there animals that big in the world? Judging by the shape, isn't it a spider?
Holy shit! A spider! This is bad, a spider that big, if I don't find a way out of this web, I'm going to be lunch for that damned thing!
I struggled harder, but it just made things futile. I can't believe I'm going to die right after I just reincarnated!
System Admin: [Activating Evolution Chain!]
What's that voice?!
System Admin: [I am your Guardian System Evilyn.]
A Guardian System? What on Earth is that? Is it able to save me?
Evilyn *SA*: [A guardian system such as myself helps the host grow stronger.]
I kind of get the gist of it, so I have a cheat code, now that I think about it. It's only natural that I get some kind of help having reincarnated into a bat.

I nod as though this made sense. Is there any way to get out of this situation?
Evilyn: [Searching for possible escape...
Evilyn: [generating method....]
Anytime now! The spider was now lowering itself down using a thin web, it was hovering over me, getting even closer.
Evilyn: [Method of Escaping: Use skill Sound Wave?]
Yes, yes! Use it! Whatever it takes to get out of this web!
Evilyn: [The host will now use the Skill: Sound Wave- Level 1]
I opened my mouth and let out a loud shrill, the sound bounced off the walls and even broke the web that had me completely trapped.
I was free! I swooped towards the dangling spider, since you tried to eat me, it's only right that I eat you!
I opened my mouth again, revealing my small and sharp teeth, sinking them into the body of the spider.
Evilyn: [Would the host like to use the skill Suction on the target?]
I would!
Evilyn: [Using skill Suction: Level 1.]
Evilyn: [Warning! The host has been poisoned by Giant Cave Spider. Find a way to cure the poison!]
I refuse to let go, even if it kills me!
Evilyn: [Alert! Alert! The host has lost thirty percent of health due to the effects of the Giant Cave Spider's poison.]
Everything was becoming blurry, but I did not care. The shrieking of the spider as it wiggled vigorously while I sucked and sucked until I could no longer suck.
I loosened my jaw and felt my body falling to the ground, despite the impact I was still alive but I was now poisoned.
Evilyn: [Alert! Due to the host consuming a dangerous amount of poison, the host will go through a forced Evolution. Maximum days until Evolution is completed, 1 week.]
What is....happening?
I could no longer think as I fell into darkness, and floated there.
The last thing I saw was a weird glowing screen.
