"With this first trial, you must reach the next door in 30 minutes. I assure you, it won't be easy." The Tren tells me.

I paused, "wait, the trial won't be in this room?" I asked.

"Not at all. All trials you will face in this dungeon will be a part of the dungeon. There's no way it would be that easy." The Tren says with a smirk.

Right. I should have seen this coming.

"No problem, it's just reaching a door in a certain timeframe. What could be so hard?" I asked with a shrug.

I regretted my confidence once the trial started.

If I had known that I'd have to get through an army of mutant ant monsters, I never would have agreed to such a trial!

Forget about reaching the next door in 30 minutes. I doubt I'd make it in 10!

Evilyn: [Rage Ants, kin to the Rare Rage Queen Ant. Their level exceeds the host.]

Thanks for that bit of unneeded information, I thought dryly.

Evilyn: [You're welcome.]

Is it me, or is this system getting smarter each time it upgrades?

I continued to fight off the ants as I made my way toward the exit.

I guess the weapon the Tren gave me made things a little easier.

Flashback:

"I see that you came empty-handed. Take this dagger." The Tren tossed me a small dagger.

I caught the dagger. I'm not sure what I need it for, but I'll accept it.

Present:

If I think about it, I'm glad I accepted the dagger.

It was still hard getting through the ant monsters, but I managed with sheer will and the minimum of good luck.

When I finally reached the other door at the end of the tunnel, fifteen minutes had passed.

I closed the door behind me and was able to take a breather.

I only leveled up twice because I killed three large ant monsters. I barely left a scratch on the rest.

It's sad to realize how weak I am.

"Wow! You did better than I expected!" The giddy voice said with enthusiasm.

I turned to find a different being from the first trial.

This one had a bunny's appearance but a human's body.

I wonder if this Mage liked collecting exotic and strange beings?

"I can tell what you're thinking. Who is this, right? Well, I can answer that!" The bunny pointed up with a beaming smile.

I wasn't thinking that, but I refrained from telling her this.

"I am Fo, one of the Guardian Assistants of this dungeon. The Tren from earlier, Opi, was also one. We GA's are more or less the mediators that provide the trials of the dungeons, and you are a supposed Outsider." She explains.

She paused as though she was waiting for something, and when nothing happened, she continued.

"Moving along, it's time for the next trial! Hopefully, this one will be tougher than before!"

Any tougher than before, I'd probably move on to the afterlife!

"Before you continue, I almost forgot," Fo says as she pulled items out of thin air.

She held up three bottles of Poison Cure, three bottles of Health Potions, and a rusty sword.

I'm not sure what use they were, but after the last experience, I learned not to question things.

The rusty sword is a little questionable, and I doubt I'll be able to do much damage with it.

"Now, the next trial will commence after you go through that door," Fo gestures behind me.

I turned to find another door had appeared, but I'm sure it wasn't there before.

I made my way to the door and soon realized I was missing the most crucial pieces of information.

I turned to ask and was taken aback by the fact that the room I had been in was gone.

I turned around, walked through the door, and stood before a tall green wall made of leaves.

It was clear what kind of trial I had to complete.

I wonder if that bunny made a mistake since a monster like me can fly across a maze like this.

That is what I thought, but no matter how many times I tried I kept getting a warning from the system.

It looks like they already thought of everything since my wings refuse to spread.

I have no choice but to enter by foot.

I walked this much, so it wouldn't hurt to continue to do so.

I must use my wings more to gain stamina. I am contradicting myself.

If I use my wings too often, I'll waste precious stamina, but if I don't, there's no way I'd be able to gain the stamina I need.

I sigh.

I'll have to pass this trial even if it damn near kills me!

But I never expected the first monster I'd encounter in the maze would be "that."
