Chapter 32: introduction

When Artemis entered the room he looked grimly at Leo.

He simply spoke two words before walking away. "Follow me."

Leo did not question him and followed him.

Leo walked directly behind Artemis and observed the building.

The current MC&D base he was staying at was quite large, he saw a decent amount of combatives walking around the hallways, but also a decent amount of salesmen.

Each time Artemis passed a combative, the combative would stop in place and salute Artemis.

Leo quickly learned that there was a massive gap of power between a normal combative and a squad leader, so it was no wonder that Percival did not want to give Leo the rank.

Leo was currently walking through the main sector, this is where most of the employees would be.

The main sector included numerous offices and it was where most of the business would be concluded.

Then there was the combative sector, this sector was purely made for combative troops, it included their shared quarters and mess halls. Combatives could also train here as there was a soundproof shooting range.

Up next would be the containment sector, this is where most of MC&Ds products were stored for later shipment, only combative and senior sales representatives were allowed to enter this sector.

Once an item was purchased by a buyer, it would be moved to the warehouse for transportation.

If the buyer of the item paid an additional fee, the item would be personally escorted by a squadron of combative.

If not and the item would get intercepted, MC&D would hold no liability.

Leo and Artemis were currently heading to the combative sector to have Leo introduce himself to the squadron.

They kept on walking for a solid five minutes before they finally arrived at the combative sector.

They continued walking for another minute before Artemis stopped at a door with a sign next to it.

"Offensive Demolition Division Squadron MORTIFER"

Leo had to learn Latin in order to get into the field of medicine, so he knew what mortifer meant, it was the latin word for "Bringers of death".

Before Artemis opened the door, he spoke to Leo.

"Don't attempt to hide your identity, I already told them you would be joining."

Artemis opened the door and two other people were sitting in the room.

There was a man with a bald head and a scar over his left eye, he was a true veteran and had seen a lot of things in his service to MC&D, he was Crawler.

Crawler looked at Leo coldly, he was still upset about what had happened to Empress, Crawler shared a lot of memories with her, but this wasn't the first time he lost someone close to him.

There was also a woman sitting in one of the chairs, she had red messy hair reaching down to her lower back and she had an eyepatch covering her right eye.

Her name was Pirate, and together with Crawler, they were known as the blind ones.

This name was not only because of her eyepatch, but it was also because she did not really care for anything.

Leo entered the room and bowed just like he did before Percival before speaking.

"Greetings, there is no need for me to introduce myself since I am sure you already know who I am after our last interaction in the forest, I am looking forward to looking with you."

Leo suddenly heard a loud laugh and when he looked up he saw Pirate quite literally rolling on the floor laughing.

After a while, she got up and wiped the tears out of the corners of her eyes before speaking.

"Holy damn Crawler, this rookie has some iron balls to introduce himself like that!"

Crawler just looked at Leo coldly before speaking.

"It was an unfortunate loss, but we expect you to fully compensate for it by replacing Empress to the best of your degree."

Leo felt a hand on his shoulder.

When he turned around he saw Artemis looking at him.

"Every operative requires a codename, and we have already created one for you.

Henceforth, we shall refer to you as "Nightmare".

You have been given this codename because anyone who would observe your brutal tactics in a fight would surely get nightmares."

After Leo heard his codename, he wasn't listening anymore, since he got a notification.
