Chapter 33: Training

Leo wondered to himself why it was already at 1/4, and after thinking for a while he thought he had the answer to it.

Both Artemis and Crawler looked at him grimly meanwhile Pirate was already laughing her ass off when Leo introduced himself.

Pirate had most likely already accepted Leo meanwhile Artemis and Crawler still had to cope with the loss of Empress.

Leo was happy upon already seeing 1/4 requirements filled, but at the same time thought Pirate was a lunatic.

It was normal for people to be saddened upon the loss of a comrade, but Pirate practically didn't give a shit about it.

Leo got snapped out of his trance when he saw a hand waving in front of his face.

"Earth to Leo?" said Artemis.

Leo responded quickly "Uh, sorry I was thinking about something."

When he turned around, Artemis was already at the door.

He waved his hand signaling that Leo had to follow and he quickly obeyed.

Leo followed Artemis and asked him where they were heading.

"You really don't pay attention, do you? You are just like Emilia. We are heading to the training area, Percival ordered me to personally train you in basic combat skills." Said Artemis.

"Who is Emilia?" Asked Leo.

He barely knew anything about Marshall, Carter and Dark so far so he tried to get as much information about its personnel as he could.

"Ah, I haven't told you yet, we only refer to our codenames during operations and refer to our first names normally.

Emilia is known as Pirate due to her eyepatch and Kevin is known as Crawler due to his first operation."

Leo wanted to know more about Kevin's codename, but he did not question it.

"What is your real name and why are you called Artemis?" asked Leo.

"My real name is Alex and I am known as Artemis due to Artemis being the goddess of the hunt. I specialize in hunting down objects of interest and bringing them back to a warehouse." said Alex.

They continued speaking for a bit before arriving at the training hall.

It was a large gym with a bunch of circles drawn in chalk, it also had some boxing arenas.

There were about 15 other people in this gym currently training and doing various exercises.

The moment Alex walked into the gym, everyone stopped and saluted him before continuing.

"Follow me, I first want to see what you are capable of doing." said Alex.

He had already fought Leo once and he almost got defeated, but it was due to him not paying attention.

"You are allowed to use any trick at your disposal, honor does not count in a fight to the death, you win when you incapacitate your enemy to the point where you can deliver a lethal blow."

Leo was given a wooden knife before Alex signaled for the battle to start.

Leo chose to defend first and waited for Alex to attack.

Alex dashed for Leo, but instead of slashing at him with the wooden knife he kicked Leo in the chest.

Leo fell down and in the next second Alex pointed his knife to Leo's throat.

"I win, your footwork is shit." said Alex.

Leo felt offended at this remark, but it was true. He had never trained anything in regard to combat because he was a surgeon.

Alex spent the next hour teaching Leo the basics of footwork before having another spar.

This time, Leo was instructed to attack first.

"Begin!" said Alex.

Leo tried his usual tactic and instantly dashed Alex.

"As expected." Said Alex.

Alex easily avoided Leo's dash by dodging to the side, he grasped Leo's head and gave him a knee to the face before sweeping him to the floor and pointing the wooden blade at him.

"Way too hastily and predictable, and what did I say about that footwork?" said Alex while shaking his head.

At this moment, Leo realized how heavily outclassed on skill he was compared to combative personnel.

He only won his past battles due to having the element of surprise and his brutality.

Once again, Alex spent time teaching Leo footwork and how to attack properly.

"One last spar!" Said Alex.

Leo dashed for Alex again and Alex nodded in disapproval.

"You should listen better!" yelled Alex

When he dodged the dash from Leo, he suddenly dropped to the ground and grappled his leg.

Leo worked Alex to the ground and started choking him out.

Alex tried to struggle, but there was nothing he could do.
