Chapter 76: Cooling down

When Leo saw Emilia's current state he calmed down significantly, he did not know why he just had such an explosive temperament.

Emilia was still crying a bit when Leo looked her in the eyes.

Leo couldn't bring himself to say something and just waited a while for Emilia to calm down.

"Let's go, we can't stay here forever." said Leo before grabbing Emilia by the hand and dragging her out of the alleyway.

 

 

 

Emilia was quite started but still followed Leo's lead.

They quickly left the alley and soon after that, they were back on the main street.

Leo took a look around and quickly flagged down a cab to come pick them up.

 

 

 

The cab driver quickly stopped and Leo dragged Emilia into the cab.

He already knew that the day was ruined so he decided not to finish it and to just head back to HQ.

The car ride was quiet, neither Leo nor Emilia wanted to start up a conversation despite the awkward attempts of the cab driver.

After driving in silence for a long while the car finally came to a stop and Leo paid the fee.

 

 

 

Leo and Emilia quickly got out, they were still a decent while away from HQ but Leo decided to walk the final part since he wanted to clear some things up with Emilia.

After walking for a while Leo spoke.

"Listen, I want to say sorry for what happened earlier, I shouldn't have lashed out like that towards you."

 

 

 

It remained silent for a while before Emilia responded.

"No, it's fine. It was my fault. I should've considered your position and the consequences my actions would lead to. I just couldn't stand being insulted like that."

"Understandable, if it wasn't for me being an SCP I probably would've reacted the same way, it's just too much of a risk for me right now. If they find out that I am not human it would just be a matter of time before the foundation gets me."

 

 

 

"I understand, I was just in the heat of the moment. I promise it won't happen again."

In that case, no hard feelings, Emilia?"

Leo extended his hand toward Emilia.

"No hard feelings."

Emilia shook Leo's hand and they walked back to HQ.

 

 

 

It was still quite a while, but the situation was at least a lot less awkward than first.

They talked about how it was when Leo was gone and some other subjects, and after a decent while they arrived back at HQ.

It was already quite late, Leo decided to do a quick equipment check before laying down on bed.

Recently he had been thinking about his choices so far and his upcoming choices, and he had already outlined his upcoming next choice.

After Noah would be able to locate a sarkic outpost or anyone with connections to sarkicism Leo would go to meet them and hopefully get a full explanation on what the symbol was, and if it has any grand meaning seek relationships with high ranking members of sarkicism.

This would probably mean separating ties with MC&D and he hoped that the sarkists would be able to keep him safe, since Percival probably wouldn't be too happy with that.

 

 

 

However, he probably had to do it. He couldn't stay a pawn to MC&D forever, and it was not like Percival would just let him leave.

Leo questioned his current situation a bit more while falling asleep slowly.

After a long while he finally closed his eyes and fell asleep.

 

 

 

"Leo..."

 

 

"Leo..."

 

 

"LEO!"

 

 

"What the!"

 

 

 

Leo quickly jumped out of his bed and saw Alex standing in front of him.

"Emergency mission! we will be departing in fifteen minutes flat! Get your gear, briefing will happen during transport since we don't have any time!"

Leo was still half asleep and took a quick look around before getting up.

 

 

 

He saw both Emilia and Kevin dashing around the room getting their gear as quickly as possible.

Leo was quite fortunate however, he had done some maintenance on his gear yesterday so he already had everything he needed.

He quickly picked up his gear and helped the others get theirs before heading to the helicopter.

The helicopter took off as soon as they got in and Alex wasted no time on the briefing.
