"What?" She recoiled.

Her chest heaved when the realization of what he meant sank in.

"Are you saying that I look a lot like Catalyah, that he took me for a substitute?" She asked.

"That's not what I said." Sinos realized what he had just done but it was too late as the impact was already done.

"That's exactly what you said. You don't have to defend him." She stood to leave.

"Jasmine, you can't be rash. Perhaps his feelings for you have nothing to do with you looking like Catalyah. You may have to talk to him before you make such a conclusion." He tried to calm her down, but she was too infuriated to hear a word he was saying.

She stormed out of the library and headed for Dairon's study. When she arrived at the door, she stopped. What was the use?

Kicking up a fuss wouldn't do anything to help. It wouldn't change the fact that she was not who he expected her to be.

"Jasmine?"

She only looked up when she heard his voice and only then did she realize that the door was in flames. Her rage was getting out of control. Why was she angry? Was she jealous? Of course she would be! No one would enjoy the sentiment of being made to be a substitute.

"What do you have to say?" She scoffed. "Now I understand why you called me Catalyah. It had nothing to do with Phoenix. Did you mistake me for her because I came with the help of her pegasus? Is that why it didn't attack you—because it knows that you are its former master's mate?"

He raised his hand to cup her face. "Flower…"

"Don't call me that." She swatted his hand away, tears once again filling her eyes. "Is that why you saved my life? Did you keep me captive on your island only because I reminded you of your mate?"

"Jasmine…" He called her name softly. She looked up at him and turned to leave.

"I love you. Why don't we talk about this sitting down?" He pleaded.

"No!" She pushed him away and ran out. She already knew all there was to know.

Once she was in her room, she flopped onto bed and buried her face in her pillow. It all felt so wrong. To think she liked him… she had even started falling in love with him. It must have been quite amusing to use her.

…..

Her eyes were swollen the following morning when she woke up. She had cried for the most part of the night and just because she didn't want to run into Dairon, she had not gone downstairs for dinner. Her stomach felt like a pit of fire.

She groaned and forcefully dragged herself out of bed, pushing the covers to one side.

A knock resounded on the door and she huffed. She hoped that was not Dairon. She glared at the door and disappeared into the bathroom. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that his actions had broken her heart so she washed her face and checked herself out in the mirror, to make sure that she didn't look like a mess. She then straightened her nightgown and went to open the door.

"What are you doing here?" She asked before the incomer fully came into view. It turned out to be Rosetta.

She should have been relieved. Why was she disappointed instead?

"Good morning. I brought your breakfast." Rosetta said.

It was only after hearing her words that Jasmine noticed the tray in her hands. The freshly baked shortbread emitted an enticing aroma but all it did was annoy her. Seeing the assorted nuts and cereal, one look and she knew that Dairon had ordered for Rosetta to bring her breakfast.

He knew that she wanted to avoid him and didn't want her to starve while at it but his intentions irked her all the more. Why did he care?

She didn't want to take it out on Rosetta so she accepted the tray. "Thank you."

Rosetta hesitated for a while before asking, "Are you alright?"

"As alright as I can be." She retreated back into her room without saying another word and Rosetta had no choice but to leave.

She took a sigh and glanced at the tea on the tray. She wasn't in the mood to eat. After freshening up, she forced down a few sips of tea and teleported to the academy.

She walked into the training room with pins in her heels. If she had a choice, she would stay holed up in her room.

"Hey, Beautiful Jas." Sinos greeted cheerfully when he saw her.

"Good morning." She forced a smile.

"You don't need to pretend with me. If you need some time off, you can take a few days." He suggested, taking the books she was carrying from her hands. She looked dull and if he didn't know what had happened the day before, he would have thought that she was unwell.

"I'm not going to sit around and mop for a cursed fish. I still have a life to live beyond the insanity that surrounds him." She pursed her lips when her words were out. She had called him the endearing term that most deities used for him to feel slightly better about her situation but once it left her mouth, she felt worse.

Sinos seemed to have realized it because he looked at her meaningfully. She waved it off. "It's just a male. He's not the only water demigod and of course, he can't possibly be my mate since he is another deity's mate."

"If you say so." He picked out a scroll and put it in her hand."

She opened it and when she found that it was a map, she spread it out on the table. "The map of Clarepar sea."

"You will need it." He stated. "You can leave when you are ready but you have to complete the mission within a week. The map will help you find somewhere to temporarily live and eat."

She glanced at an island on the map labelled Cannon Islands and felt like her mind was about to go ablaze. Was it possible for her to continue living without seeing hints of her everywhere?

It finally made sense why he would know so much about Catalyah's peculiar hobby. She took a deep breath to calm her frustration, suddenly hating the goddess that everyone loved. Was she becoming a second Scarlet? To think that not too long ago, she felt bad for her for being betrayed by her friend.

"I'm starting to sound like a bitch." She slapped her forehead.

"You didn't say a word." Sinos tapped his chin.

She blew out a breath. "Is there a portrait of Catalyah anywhere?" She asked.

"There is, but it's in the academy of deities." He raised an eyebrow. "Do you want to confirm whether or not you look alike? Because if you do, I'd have something to say about it."

"Speak." She demanded.

"Here's the thing. Seeing her portrait is only going to hurt you." He tried to talk her out of it.

"I want to see it." She demanded. She was certain that she wouldn't ever move on if she didn't get to see the face behind all those praises. "Can you help me get to the academy of deities?"

"I will if you promise that no one will know about it." He lowered his voice into a whisper. "Her portraits are kept in the forbidden library."

"Why are there so many forbidden places in the realm of immortals?" She scoffed. Everything about this realm annoyed her since she found out that the one thing she found worth the stay was fake.

"It was her library. She built it herself." He explained.

It made sense so she nodded. She didn't want to know too many details that would only make her dull in comparison so she stood. "Can we go right now?"

"If it makes you peaceful enough to go on your mission calmly, do I have a choice?" He chuckled and took her hand.

They teleported into the most beautiful library she had ever seen. She looked around and although she hated to admit it, she was jealous.

She didn't need anyone to tell her that they were in a powerful deity's territory. She could feel it.

"If her power is so strong even eight hundred years after her death, just how strong was she?" She asked, feeling slightly jealous. Scratch that. She was extremely envious.

"What does it make you feel?" Sinos asked as they walked through rows of shelves.

"I don't know. It's almost as if my power is growing." She chuckled. "Maybe that's my elements' way of respecting her."

Sinos smiled and pushed a wall, which rolled away because it was fake. Her eyes were filled with a beautiful face that made her stop in her tracks. "Isn't that me?"
