They had their breakfast in silence. It was a little more bearable than each having it on their own. As soon as she was done, she stood to leave without saying another word.

"Jasmine?" He called after her.

She turned wordlessly and looked at him, even though she could pretty much guess what he wanted to say.

As expected, it was about her mission.

"If your mission involves anything I could help you with…" He started and stopped when she narrowed her eyes at him.

Why did he think she wanted his help? "I'll be alright on my own." She almost snapped.

"But it might be difficult. It's going to involve the sea and you do know that you and the sea are enemies."

His statement made something finally make sense. It was just a speculation on her mind but she couldn't help wondering if the sea rejected her so much because she had gotten close to someone else's mate, who just happened to be a water demigod.

Her mind shifted between gauging how much sense she made and pushing the thought out, which caused her to stare at him blankly for a while before shaking her head. "I don't want to accept help from you."

It was only after seeing his expression that she realized what her words implied, that she wouldn't accept help from another female's mate. That was not what she meant. She pinched the space between her brows. "I mean, it's my challenge. Sinos gave me something related to my fears for a reason."

He nodded, knowing she wouldn't appreciate it if he did anything to help her behind her back.

"Good luck." He whispered. She would need it. That, he was certain. If only he could do anything to change it.

She nodded her thanks and turned to leave.

"Jasmine?" He called again and she turned, on the last strand of patience.

"I can lend you my powers so you can use my elements to your advantage."

Her eyes widened. Did he realize what he was saying? He was basically giving her access to information he didn't want her to know. She shook her head. "You don't need to."

"This doesn't count as helping you. Having power over an element is one thing. Controlling it is a whole different story." He insisted. "Besides, you already have half of my soul. If there's an emergency situation that requires you to use my powers, you will automatically unlock them."

She weighed the options and decided that it would be rude to use his powers without his permission so she agreed. "Alright, thank you."

….

"You are home!" Sophie was overjoyed when she saw Jasmine walk in through the door.

"Mother." Jasmine ran forward and threw her arms around her.

"I wasn't expecting you." Sophie hugged her again and peeked out, wondering why she had been allowed to come on her own this time.

Reading her mind, she smiled. "I missed you too much so I decided that since I was going to be in the human realm, I may as well drop by for a visit."

"Jasmine!" A cheerful voice filled the air and Dahlia came running in from outside. She threw herself into Jasmine's arms and clung onto her in disbelief.

"Dahlia. You always brighten my day." She hugged her and kissed her cheeks, feeling all the residual sadness leaving her heart.

Dahlia felt giddy from the surprise kisses. "That's because you love me."

She didn't waste a second before starting to express her curiosity. "Is it true that you are a demigoddess?"

"Uh…" She snuck a glance at Sophie who wasn't shocked by the question. She raised an eyebrow and leaned over to Dahlia's height. "Why would you ask that?"

"Mama and papa told me." Dahlia cheerfully explained. "But they also said that you are still my sister."

She looked at Sophie. Why did they decide to tell Dahlia that? Did things get out of control while she was away?

Sophie sat down and motioned to Jasmine to take a seat too. "We decided that the best way to stick together is to not keep secrets."

"You did the right thing, mama." She smiled and turned to Dahlia who was eagerly waiting for confirmation. "Yes, it's true. That's why I can't be with you every day anymore."

Dahlia was so excited that she wasn't saddened by the revelation that things would never go back to normal. Her eyes brightened up at Jasmine's Confirmation. "That's so cool. My friends would combust in jealousy if they ever found out."

She chuckled and hated to burst her bubble. She pulled the girl beside her. "Dahlia, you can't tell your friends." She gently instructed.

Dahlia immediately understood. "Urgh, right. They'd probably be scared."

That was one of the reasons so she nodded. "I don't care if they are scared of me. I just don't want you to lack friends as a result."

Dahlia thought about it and wrapped her arms around Jasmine's waist and rested her head on her shoulder. "That's okay. As long as I have you."

Jasmine tousled her hair with a subtle smile. "Aren't you the sweetest?"

It was a pity that she couldn't stay for much longer. She had to get started on her mission as soon as possible. Harry was not home yet, so she promised to drop by if she completed her mission soon enough.

She didn't know what part of Clarepar Sea her scepter was in, so she belatedly realized after arriving at the beach that she might have to swim around to try to feel its presence. Lucky, there was a ship ready to take off in about an hour. She didn't understand how she had found out. It must be thanks to one of Dairon's abilities that she felt it. Sure enough, the ship was preparing to take off when she arrived at the port. It was too late for her to book a ticket so she only managed to make them wait for her to get on by compelling the crew.

Once she was aboard, she felt guilty for having used his powers against unsuspecting humans. She walked onto the swimming platform and looked out into the sea. She felt restless.

Dairon had said that his powers would be dormant unless and until she activated them but she felt as though a storm was raging inside her chest. If this was what dormant felt like, she definitely didn't want to encounter the active side of it.

"Are you okay, beauty?" A male voice spoke beside her and she turned to glance at the man who was speaking to her. He was handsome and she instinctively knew that he was kind even though all he had said was four words.

All it took was one glance for her to know everything that was going on with him. He had just broken up with his fiancée whom he found cheating on him and was taking a vacation to calm himself down. Unbeknownst to him, he was going to meet his future wife on Cannon Islands. She wondered whether it was Dairon's ability.

Realizing that she was staring at him, she forced a smile. "I'm alright. I'm just nervous."

He smiled back at her kindly. "Are you on the sea for the first time?"

"You could say so." She lied. It was not entirely a lie. It was her first time being on the sea and feeling like she had power over it. Was that what Dairon felt when he was on the sea?

"What does the weather forecast say about today?" She asked, feeling the storm raging once again.

"Are you scared about anything?" He asked with a slight laugh and she shrugged.

"That there will be a storm."

"Don't worry. The weather should be calm for at least two days." He reassured her.

"Is that so." She cursed inwardly but forced a smile. She was certain that a raging storm was coming soon. It was about a day away and at the time, they wouldn't be close enough to any island.

Could it possibly be because she was present? She wondered.

A bolt of lightning flashed and the sky instantly darkened. Her eyes went wide. What was happening?

"Jasmine has been sent out to sea." Lolanthe reported as soon as she arrived on Dairon's Island.

He was still in the garden so she took a seat opposite him.

"May I know what you are planning?"

He glanced up at her nonchalantly. "Is there anything I should be planning?"

She frowned and looked like she was a second away from feeling his forehead. "Have you forgotten why you are still here and not where you belong? It's to bring Catalyah's soul back to life."

"It is." He put aside the clock in his hand. "But I'm not going to hurt Jasmine to make that happen."

She frowned at his words. "What do you mean?"

He stood up, ready to leave. "I mean, I'm done trying to alter fate. If Catalyah does come back, it will be for the best. If she doesn't, so be it."

Before he could walk away, she stood and grabbed his hand. "We vowed to bring her back together! I can't do this alone."

"Lolanthe…"

She shook her head stubbornly. "Dairon, you made a promise. If not for me, do it for her. You can't betray my daughter again."
