"Everyone believed that I had deliberately killed Catalyah. Not that I ever tried to explain." He explained.

Jasmine frowned. Why would he allow himself to be misunderstood for all these years?

As if reading her mind, he explained, "I wasn't entirely innocent. If I warned her about the goddess behind her or pulled her to my side, or done something else to evade the attack, I wouldn't have stabbed her."

She so badly wanted to cup his face and tell him that it was alright. Who would have thought that he was holding so much pain in his heart?

"I'm not telling you this to evoke your pity. It's the last thing I would want to do to you." He said, once again reading her mind.

She looked at the hand stalking towards hers and held it. He was taken aback which was expected. After all, she had swatted him away barely ten minutes ago.

"So, who exactly are you?" She asked, trying her luck.

He chose his words carefully so he wouldn't scare her. "A daemon."

She frowned in confusion. "A daemon… a demigod?" it didn't make sense. Wasn't that what everyone thought he was?

"Do you think we can postpone this for when we are back on my island? I don't want to run the risk of scaring your family." He asked.

Her hands tightened around his. Why would anything scare her family more than the fact that he was a demigod? Was he something scarier than that? She pursed her lips. "Okay."

The pair went back to the house where Harry and Sophie were sitting on pins and needles.

"Baby, are you alright?" Sophie asked her and looked her all over while shooting Dairon a distrusting look. This demigod had saved her life but if he hurt her daughter, it wouldn't matter how she owed him. She would still want to punish him.

Jasmine cupped her face in her small palms. "It's alright, mother." She reassured her with a hug. "We should get going soon. I haven't reported the completion of my mission yet." That, and the fact that she couldn't wait to hear what Dairon had to say.

Dahlia overheard what she said about her mission and ran over to ask curiously, "Mission? Don't tell me you immortals have homework just like I do."

"You could put it that way. Except, your homework is a test of knowledge while ours is a test of how long you can remain sane and alive after a series of turmoil." She exaggerated and laughed when Dahlia looked like she was about to beg her to return to the human realm and forget about being an immortal.

Sophie had spent the time they took to talk outside to prepare an assortment of cookies and nuts, so she asked Jasmine to the kitchen so she would give them to her.

Knowing that Sophie was probably making an opportunity for Harry to have a word with Dairon, she gave him a naughty wink before disappearing into the kitchen with Sophie.

"Mother, do you have something to tell me?" She asked when they were on their own. Sophie looked like she was holding something back.

She made sure the door was closed before she held her daughter's hands. "Baby, I know you have heard all sorts of rumors about marriage. Everyone says that a married couple frequently fights if they don't like each other."

Jasmine blushed in embarrassment at the kind of topic that her mother was about to bring up.

Sophie lowered her voice to continue. "Actually, you can fight a lot even when madly in love. My parents chose a groom for me and I didn't have any right to say a word about it but as soon as your father and I saw each other, we fell in love."

"Do I really need to know that?" Jasmine chuckled awkwardly. It wasn't common for mothers to talk about their own love life with their daughters.

"I don't know what the situation is with immortals but although Harry and I love each other so much, we fight as often as other couples. Before we had you, we once had a cold war and didn't say a word to each other for a month even though we lived in the same house."

"Okay, that's news." It was unexpected.

"You get my point. It's not important how long you fight. The most important thing is you have to end it. Men often don't know how to deal with fights with their spouses so… it's often up to the woman. If you seduce him, he won't be able to stay away from you anymore."

"Mother!" Her face reddened. She knew it was about to lead in that direction.

"I'm serious about it, Jas. You can try it if you don't believe me. Redecorate your room, take a shower when he is in your room and come out of the bathroom on a short towel…"

Jasmine covered Sophie's mouth with both of her hands. "Mother, stop. Please." Her face couldn't get any redder.

It was already embarrassing enough to think of doing such things with Dairon. How could she talk about it with her mother?

Sophie chuckled and pulled her daughter's hands away. "What don't I know about you, sweetheart? I was just trying to help you save your marriage."

She shook her head vehemently. "Dairon and I are not married. Yeah, I know you are wondering why I live with him if we aren't married. We stay in different rooms."

"If you say so." Sophie agreed but she certainly didn't believe it.

Jasmine grabbed the basket of assorted nuts and cookies and practically bolted out of kitchen.

Sophie laughed out aloud behind her. "It's just a tiny suggestion!"

Dairon's discussion with Harry had ended and he was waiting for her. He looked at her and Sophie probingly.

Before Sophie could blurt out something embarrassing, Jasmine hugged her, Harry and Dahlia briefly. "We will get going now. Goodbye, see you soon!"

She then dragged Dairon to teleport back to his island.

"What was that about?" He asked, knowing that she was trying to hide something.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing." She forced a smile. It would be tragic if he read her mind.

"Is it too late to go to the academy? Right, I'll summon Sinos and show him my scepter to prove that I completed my mission then we can talk about it in detail tomorrow. Urgh, never mind. I still have a few days left so I won't be late if I take it with me to the academy tomorrow. On second thought, I could send it to the academy and summon it tomorrow." She rambled and stopped when she realized that he was staring at her.

"What are you staring at?" She asked.

"You look cute when you are trying to hide your embarrassment." He smiled and ran the knuckle of his forefinger down her pink cheek. Whatever she was thinking about was definitely not innocent.

"You are imagining things." She brushed it off and decided not to call Sinos over.

"You promised to tell me all about yourself once we got here." She reminded him, not because she was too curious but because she wanted to evade the topic of what Sophie had said.

After hearing her mother tell her to seduce him, she couldn't look at him the same way anymore.

He knew what she was avoiding but didn't call her out on it. Instead, he led her to the library upstairs. The scent of old books was calming enough for such a heavy topic.

She sat on the comfortable couch and he sat opposite her.

"Will you be scared of me?" He asked, then immediately shook his head. He couldn't make her promise not to be scared when even he had been scared of himself at some point in his life.

She shook her head but she was uncertain of her own response.

He took her hand over the table and realized that it was trembling slightly. He brought it to his mouth and kissed it. "It's okay. I would never hurt you."

"Okay." She trusted him for some reason.

He let out a sigh of relief. "I'll start where it all begun. After staying cooped in the realm of immortals all her life, Goddess Alaya sought adventure. Someone told her about the human realm and she couldn't wait to pay a visit.

She was already aware of the fact that humans didn't know about deities so she disguised herself as one of them by not letting her wings show. Everything was perfect. She loved the human realm and wanted her adventure to last forever. It was even more evident when she met a man and fell in love with him."

He paused and sighed. "She has never found this out but he was not a man. He was a demon in disguise."
