He squinted his eyes slightly at her. "You're not crazy to have such an opinion. I thought you would be scared of me."
"For being a demon?" She rolled her eyes. "If I were scared of demons, I would never summon Narilia's door after learning that she is a demoness. Most importantly, I would never be afraid of you."
She stepped forward into his personal space and looked up at him uncertainly. "Am I allowed?"
He knew that she was asking to hug him so he stepped forward to close in the tiny distance between them, and pulled her into his arms. She rested her head on his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. She closed her eyes and savored the moment, wishing it could last forever.
"We could make it last forever if you wish." He smiled, knowing what she was feeling. He felt the same way. "I can make time slow down on stop for everything but us." He offered.
She thought about it and wasn't sure whether or not she wanted it. "Could you make it stop for an equivalent of two minutes?" She asked.
Still in his demon form, she felt power leave his body and in the next moment, felt as though she was in a void. She continued hugging him but the fact that time had stopped made her restless. She couldn't help noticing the tiny details like the grand clock having stopped ticking, a sheet of paper having stopped mid-air when it was about to fall from the shelf.
She pulled away from him and rushed to take it and was surprised when her hands couldn't grasp it.
"If you do anything significant while time has stopped, it might cause a chain reaction of changes in the future." He explained.
She stopped trying to do anything and returned to hug him. "I prefer it when everything else is as it usually is." She admitted.
"That's expected." He let time go on as usual and the clock continued ticking loudly. She reflexively glanced at the sheet of paper that had fallen and saw it just as it touched the ground. She rushed to pick it up and flipped it to see whatever was written on it. It turned out to be a letter. She was certain it was a letter from looking at it but she couldn't read a word of it.
"What language is it?" She asked curiously.
"The language of demons." He picked it up from her. "I wrote to Ulke but was yet to send it out. I want to let him know that I have no intention of harming Narilia but he has to do me a favor for that to be effective."
She was taken aback by the fact that he was letting her in on such a personal matter so easily. Wasn't he scared she could use it against him?
She didn't ask anymore since she couldn't possibly have anything against his trust.
"Do you still want to see me like this?" He asked, flapping his wings slightly to catch her attention. She rushed back to him and reached out to touch them. "Can I?"
"Of course." He let her play with his feathers for a while before retracting his wings as he turned back to his demigod form.
She was still curious about a million things. How come no one else knew he was a demon? Did other demons know that he doubled as a demigod?
"You can ask me anything." He offered, seeing the questions written all over her face.
She grasped her fingers as she asked, "How come you don't have wings as a demigod when you do as a demon?"
"I actually do." His wings appeared on cue but they were the very wings he had as a demon. "But they are half demigod-half demon wings. Demons wouldn't necessarily find them odd but no water deity has black wings. They would stand out and not in a good way."
Not only did his response not satisfy her curiosity, but it made her have even more questions in mind.
She sat down in her favorite couch and crossed her legs at the knees while looking up to him to ask, "Why would a demon lure Goddess Alaya when there was a feud between demons and gods? Is it for revenge?"
He looked at her and pulled her to stand, taking her seat and pulling her back down so she was sitting on his lap like she was before she asked about his demon form. "It wasn't for revenge. At the time, the feud between demons and gods was yet to begin. He probably just did it because he couldn't resist the allure of a beautiful goddess."
She squirmed and wanted to get away but couldn't because he was holding her tightly in his arms. She could only try to ignore him and was too curious to mind. "But demonesses must be very beautiful as well, right?"
If they looked anything like Dairon did, that is.
"They certainly are. But they aren't as beautiful as you." He flirted and she blushed. How did talking about his father turn into him praising her?

He kissed her red cheeks and continued, "I don't know how they met. All I know is that he had her fooled. She pretended to be a human to fit into the human realm and so did he. They both deceived the others but she bore all the consequences."
She tilted her head to look at him. "Have you ever met him?"
"Yes." He answered monotonously.
"Does he know that you are his son?" She asked. When he nodded, she couldn't help scolding him in her heart. What kind of father was he?
Since he was a demon, then high chances were that Dylan didn't catch him when he had threatened to kill the man who got Alaya pregnant. How could he deprive his son of paternal love even though he was alive?
"Don't think about him. He isn't worth anyone's time" He nibbled her ear ever so slightly.
______
At the same time, in the Enchanted Circle.
Marina looked like she was on the verge of going crazy when she got home.
"Where have you been all day?" Dylan asked. He had been waiting for her in the living area and crossed his arms as soon as he saw her.
She shuffled to a seat looking restless. "Doing the best thing anyone could ever do. Planning to get rid of that demigoddess on Dairon's island!"
"What's wrong with her?" Dylan asked, as if he wasn't the one who hated Jasmine the most.
Nila had entered the living area and overheard the question that Dylan had just asked Marina. She glared at Dylan. "Are you really that ignorant? That demigoddess is too curious for her own good. Forget her curiosity. She looks like she might just turn into a second Catalyah."
"That's if Scarlet doesn't nip her head from her neck before it happens. King Rian wants to take her as an apprentice." Marina chimed in.
"Did you just say Scarlet wants her dead?" Nila lowered her voice as she asked.
"That's how it sounds." Marina answered, though there wasn't anything she could be certain about. "But grandmother, that demigoddess is strange in every way. Don't you find Pearl's death odd?"
"There is nothing normal about a demigoddess who dies and comes back to life within ten years, lives in the human realm but still manages to catch Rian's eye within a month of her stay in the realm of immortals. That, and the fact that I have a feeling I have encountered her before."
Nila paced in distress as she thought of all the possibilities. Could they really have encountered Jasmine before? But in her past life, she was too young to matter in the slightest.
"Could she be Alaya's friend?" Nila asked.
"I don't think so. Why would Alaya befriend a demideity?" Dylan scoffed. Her taste might be as awful as it could get but demigoddesses were way below her.
Nila stopped pacing and sat down. "She did give birth to a demigod. Maybe her view of them has changed. Unlike me, she would love whatever she gives birth to no matter what creature it is."
Marina frowned in frustration. "If you are going to speak of demigods as if they are worthless creatures, can you not include Dairon among them? I still love him."
Dylan and Nila exchanged glances and looked at her like she was a fool. Dylan sighed deeply. If he said a word, he would end up scolding her so he remained silent and let Nila speak instead.
"We are not letting you marry Dairon so you can fall in love with him. It's so we can find out everything there is to know about him." Nila reprimanded her.
Marina chuckled and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "You are aiming for the wrong target. You should be investigating Jasmine instead."
Dylan narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Scarlet thinks she could be Catalyah's reincarnation."
