"That's because Scarlet is out of her mind." Dylan remarked. Even if Jasmine were the reincarnation of a goddess, it couldn't possibly be Catalyah.

Marina insisted on the hypothesis. "Sometimes I think so too. How come she has two of Catalyah's elements? Forget that. Why did Lord Blaze adopt her?"

Nila tried not to shut her up for letting every tiny detail get to her. Since Pearl died, could she also be considered to be Catalyah's reincarnate? Although that was what she thought, she didn't want to be harsh to her granddaughter so she gently explained, "That scumbag merely wanted someone to offer him solace for his daughter's death."

Marina wasn't convinced. On the contrary, she had a bad feeling about the whole situation. "But King Rian wants to make her his apprentice."

Dylan massaged his temples. Was Jasmine a jinx? The mere mention of her name gave him chills. "You are overestimating her just like he is. Everyone thinks she is some powerful demigoddess. That's exactly what we should use against her."

"She has Dairon." Nila frowned. Although her grandson was a demigod, she had to admit that he didn't seem to be simple either.

"Not if I get him." Marina smiled wickedly.

….

"What's wrong?" Jasmine asked when Dairon stood out of the blue. He had been holding her as they talked about demons but all of a sudden, he stopped speaking and stared into thin air. She stood to follow him when he went to the window and looked out.

Standing beside him, she tilted her head to look into his eyes then tried to follow his gaze out. All she could sea was the dark, calm sea. What was he looking at? Was there something he could see in the sea that she couldn't? She wanted to say something but couldn't when she saw his eyes start to fill with rage. Had he seen his enemy? No matter who or what it was, she placed a hand on his back to soothe him so he would calm down.

He looked down at her and took her hand. "It's alright."

"What was wrong?" She asked softly, knowing that whatever it was had probably not been settled yet.

He kissed her small hand and pulled her into his enbrace. "It isn't anything you should be worried about. My grandparents think it's going to be easy to figure me out."

"Why would they want to figure you out?" She frowned. What use would it be?

He pulled her away from the window and drew the curtains. "How else would they know how to get rid of me?"

She opened her mouth but couldn't get a word out immediately. It was already evil of them to discard him even though he was their grandson. What would they gain from killing him?

"My mother will be here soon, to warn me about them." He smiled.

She was unsure how it was possible for Alaya to know what her parents were planning but when she thought about it, she remembered that the latter was a water goddess even though she no longer belonged to any clan. It wasn't surprising, and Dairon must have inherited her ability if it helped him know what his grandparents were plotting.

"Are you looking forward to seeing her?" She asked, referring to Goddess Alaya.

He looked at her as if she was asking the obvious, whose answer she already knew to be negative.

"Well, she is your mother nonetheless. It's okay if you feel some semblance of love for her. At least I think that if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't completely hate her even after so many years." She played with her fingers.

He slumped to his seat and thought about how to handle Alaya if she really disregarded the many times he had ignored and told her off, and still came to find him. "I'm a demon, flower."

She finally understood him. If he recklessly got close to Alaya, she would figure out who he was. The ending may not be anything he expected. Would he be able to bear it?

"If she does come, will you mind if I meet her first? I can try to read her mind." She suggested.

He looked up at her and frowned. Did it make any difference?

He was avoiding getting his hopes up only to get his heart broken. However, if she asked Alaya a random question to know her thoughts about her son, she would definitely tell him about it. If she expressed that she would despise her son if he wasn't as perfect as she thought, Jasmine would keep quiet about it and probably evade the topic. Either way, she would have known the answer based on her reaction.

She watched his expression change and guessed what he was thinking. She cracked her knuckles and took a seat next to his as he thought of a way to handle it. "Well, I can talk to her and keep her reaction a secret from you whether or not it's a good one." She suggested.

"Go ahead." He let her, but only because she sounded like it was going to be fun. He had found out after the last time he met Alaya that they had once encountered each other near his room. Maybe she had kept a grudge and wanted to pursue it.

She braced herself and kissed his cheek. "Is it crazy that I hope she actually drops by?"

He chuckled. "She should be getting ready to sneak onto the island now."

"How do you even know?" She asked curiously.

Instead of answering her, he led her to a door at the end of the library, which she had not noticed it before. When he opened it, she saw that it led into a dark room. Chills went down her spine. Was it alright if she used her fire powers to make torches? Wait. One of his demigod elements was light. He would have made it if he wanted to.

"What's down there?" She asked with squinted eyes, not daring to take a step down.

"If any deity comes on the island, the wall will light up. It's a measure I put up to prevent their intrusion." He explained and continued watching.

She looked sideways at him. She had found it odd that he was so guarded against demons when he was one of them. It made sense now that he explained it. Demons were not his enemies. Gods were. But why? She didn't know.

"She's here." He spoke two seconds before the mentioned wall lit up. She shook her head and laughed. Why did he need the wall if he was more accurate in detecting the arrival of a deity than it was? Besides, did he have time to be in the library the whole time so he would know of it? Perhaps he needed it if he left the mansion in someone else's care?

She speculated and stopped thinking about it when she realized that she would never get the answer to it unless she asked him about it.

"Where is Goddess Alaya? I'll go and meet her." She asked.

"She snuck to my room." His lips twitched. She sure moved fast.

Jasmine took it as her cue to teleport to Dairon's room.

Alaya had expected Dairon so she was taken aback when she saw her. She patted her chest in fright. "Catalyah?"

She squinted her eyes and took a closer look at Jasmine, which made her a little more relieved. "It's just you, Jasmine."

Jasmine smiled. "Don't worry. I've heard it from innumerable deities that I look like an identical copy of Catalyah. Why were you so horrified, does she scare you?"

Alaya looked straight at her. "What's your point?"

"That the spell you cast on me to forget our first meeting wore off. Do you want to tell me why you have been sneaking around my mate?" She crossed her arms and looked at the goddess sternly.

Alaya let out a slight chuckle but Jasmine knew that she didn't find anuthing funny. She was pained by the fact that she had never had any right to do anything regarding her son. She was even being questioned by his mate who he had met just a couple of months ago.

Still, she kept her stance. "Your mate is my son. What right do you have to question what I do to him?"

Jasmine circled her in a way that made her uncomfortable. "So you do remember that he is your son. Then why did you leave him?"

"You asked this before, I gave you an answer but if your head is too thick for you to remember it, I will answer it again. It's none of your business." Alaya insisted.

Jasmine stopped circling and stopped in front of her, finally certain that the latter was not carrying anything that could help her harm Dairon. She had been searching him just now and hadn't smelled anything harmful on her. So, she sat on his bed.. "I will not let you or any other deity harm my mate. Tell me, what did you hate so much about him when he was born that you no longer hate now? Are you trying to get his weakness?"
