After a short mental debate, she decided to let Delaney continue mistaking her for Catalyah for just a little while. She would explain later. It was wrong to take advantage of her misunderstanding but there wasn't a better choice.

Dairon silently shot her a look of approval so she hugged Delaney, stalling for time to get something she could use from Catalyah's memories."

"Is there any reason why you came to the underworld despite knowing that you shouldn't?" She asked, her tone full of disapproval. "You have no idea what Rian would do if he found out that you came to the underworld."

She knew exactly what would happen, but this was her chance so she feigned ignorance.

"I don't understand. You are my grandmother and besides, he knows that I'm trying to make peace between the realm of immortals and the underworld."

Delaney was confused for a moment after Dairon interpreted her words to her, making Jasmine wonder whether she had gone too far. What if she was not mistaking her for Catalyah after all?

It would have been tragic, which was why she was relieved when Delaney asked what her parents thought about it.

"Father has been supportive." She responded from what she knew about Blaze's reaction when it came to Catalyah's opinion on anything.

Delaney took her hand, hating the fact that she and her granddaughter couldn't understand each other without the help of Dairon.

It was awkward when he explained her feelings to Jasmine, and the latter didn't know how to feel about it.

"Don't demons know any other language?" She whispered a question to him.

"Most of them can speak any human language. But you're not a human right now." He sternly reminded her and she cursed. How did she communicate with King Rian when they were together?

She caught sight of her hair whose ends were starting to darken and bit the inside of her cheek. Time was running out.

"Grandmother, I'd like to talk to you about something." She brought up the main subject.

Taking advantage of the fact that she couldn't understand her, she explained her change of mind to Dairon. "We will never be able to change her mind if she decided never to talk about her former mate. If I'm still here by midnight, you would have to do this on your own."

"Is that all that worries you? That I would be on my own?" He was mesmerised by her train of thought. Being a demoness in itself didn't worry her half as much as what would result from it.

She prompted him to hurry and relay her message to Delaney. As expected, the demoness looked displeased.

"If you are not comfortable talking about it, I understand." She said, glancing at Dairon's hair again. Why was time suddenly moving so fast? She could practically feel it.

"Could you please pause it?" She whispered to him while Delaney was lost in thought, probably deciding what to do.

He leaned over to whisper, "You don't want to see what will happen if she found out that I'm half demigod."

"Yikes." She gnashed her teeth. Delaney was now looking at her after making her decision.

She said something to Dairon and the latter made a sheet of paper and quill appear out of thin air, which he gave to her. The latter sat down and busied herself writing, but Jasmine was too nervous to think of glancing down at the contents.

Her nails felt itchy and she knew the cause. It was the transformation that would happen if she didn't leave the underworld soon. Time in the underworld was definitely messed up.

Her hypothesis was confirmed when she felt an unfamiliar presence. Delaney disappeared like a puff of wind at the same time as Ulke materialized.

"Look who decided to play in my turf while I was away." He grinned playfully as he looked at Dairon.

She wanted to use the chance to kill him. If only she could.

"The underworld does not belong to you." Dairon retorted, grabbing her hand so they would leave.

"It probably does not, but she does." He pointed his chin at Jasmine. "How have you been, my dear Catalyah?"

"Jasmine. And I've never been better." She deliberately circled her arm around his, to remind Ulke that he was her father-in-law.

The demon took the hint and used it to twist facts.

"How long are you going to fight me for a female, son?" He asked.

"I'm not your son. I never was and never will be." Dairon gave him the cold shoulder and teleported them back to the realm of immortals.

"That didn't go as expected." She remarked when they were back to his room. She was tired for some odd reason, so she sat on his bed and rested against the pillows.

He was trying to retract his wings and when they seemed to have stuck even though he was in his demigod form, he let them be and sat on the couch.

"Ulke tried to make us unable to come back." He cursed the demon once again for his craftiness.

"Remind me why we didn't kill him on the spot?"

"Time." He opened a drawer from the cabinet near the couch and took out a sheet of paper.

"It's easier to kill him in our own turf, where his abilities will be nullified. Do you know if his strength changes when he is in the water kingdoms?" She asked, at the same time trying to figure out what he was holding. Why did that look a lot like the paper Delaney was writing on a while ago?

"He is just as strong as he is in the underworld, which is not surprising. The asshole once stole my strength." He handed the paper over to her.

"We should make it more agonising when we finally kill him." She gritted her teeth. He laughed, making her frown deepen. "No, I'm serious. How much have you suffered because of him?"

"How sweet of you to protect me." He remarked as she curiously took the paper. "I sent it here when I made Delaney disappear."

She opened it and it was indeed the one Delaney wrote on. "Where did you make her go?"

"Back to her garden."

Her heart ached when she thought about how lonely Delaney must be, since she was probably the only demon whose soul still existed. Who made the rule that souls of different origins couldn't cohabit?

The underworld had insane rules too, she thought.

The content of Delaney's note was baffling.

"She wrote in the language of the gods. Wait. She knows the language of the gods?" Her blood ran cold as she tried to remember if she had spoken out anything inappropriate within her earshot.

"She can read and write it, but she cannot speak it." He revealed, much to her relief.

She got back to reading the content, which was puzzling when she thought about it.

"She has been bitter for too long and couldn't wait for Catalyah to arrive so she would help her seek revenge. No wonder we didn't even need to try and convince her. I have no idea how she concluded that Catalyah would want to help her but she wrote down all of King Rian's weaknesses." She looked up at him and gave the paper back to him, knowing that he had not read it.

"I'm glad we have this with us. In twenty seven days, Rian will be dead."

His tone was so terrifying that even though she already knew what they were planning, she trembled. "This is the only way."

"We owe Catalyah a lot, though." She stated, remembering that they only got access to the important information because she had impersonated Delaney's granddaughter.

"Then we should repay her by doing a clean job." His eyes danced with what looked like joy. He was having way too much fun with this.

She rolled off the bed, unsettled with too much information to calmly take in. ''I can't believe how many awful things King Rian did just to rule the immortal realm. I'm glad they all became his weaknesses."

She ticked off the options and chose the best one. "Scarlet could kill him with a single stab of her sword. That would be satisfying, considering how loyal they are to each other. Betrayal should be the best way to finish him off."

She stopped speaking when she found it odd. "But why Scarlet?"
