"Scarlet is King Rian's daughter?" Jasmine looked at Dairon, who was equally shocked.

"I had no idea either." He frowned, shocked that Rian had never thought about Scarlet as his daughter. Maybe he knew that if he did, someone would find out by reading his mind.

They followed Scarlet through the tunnels as she grew up. For the first century of her life, King Rian did not appear before her—until Catalyah was born. Only then did King Rian look for her. She was just a little goddess then, and she was ecstatic to find out that she was the daughter of the king.

"Father," She cooed cutely.

"You cannot call me that." He berated her gently. "No one knows that you are my daughter and it should remain that way for the rest of your life."

"Why?" She questioned sadly.

"They will use you to get to me and if they know that it will hurt me, trying to kill you will not be the limit." He crouched to her level, making her understand.

She didn't. "But we are deities. Aren't deities immortal?"

"Being immortal only means we cannot die under natural circumstances. Now listen to me."

"Okay."

The scenes faded for a moment before Jasmine jolted.

"What was that? It felt as though I was falling asleep." She rubbed her eyes.

"Go ahead. Follow Rian and Scarlet while I control The Clock." He urged without explaining what had happened. She didn't have time to ask so she dashed forward and followed the father and daughter as they sat on a rock to discuss.

"Five days ago, another goddess was born. Her name is Catalyah." King Rian started and Scarlet tilted her small head to look at him. "I only had to hold her once to know that she is the one who will be the end of you. You have to end her first."

Jasmine frowned at King Rian's heartlessness. What did he have against Catalyah? She was just a newborn goddess!

"How do I end her?" Asked Scarlet.

"For starters, you have to be her friend."

So, for the next few centuries that followed, Scarlet befriended Catalyah and later, Narilia. They soon became a clique of three. The whole time, Scarlet would get ideas from King Rian and use them in an attempt to end Catalyah's life—she would fail each time.

According to King Rian, Narilia was a threat too, but she got all her strength from Catalyah so they only needed to get rid of the latter.

To King Rian's dread, Catalyah became stronger every year and attracted love and admiration in all the realms she set foot in.

Jasmine jolted out of her thoughts when she realized that she was paying too much attention to Catalyah instead of Scarlet.

"Look, Catalyah! I discovered my element." Scarlet announced joyously as she showed the sisters the scepter that had lit up at her element reveal ceremony.

"Congratulations. You got wisdom!" Cheered Catalyah.

Scarlet smiled, but she was blazing with jealousy. Why did Catalyah pretend to be happy for her when she had three elements herself? She was probably inwardly gloating.

Jasmine facepalmed at how King Rian could poison his own daughter's mind against his granddaughter.

Three of Catalyah's elements had already been revealed accidentally as they played. Even so, it was still mandatory to have an element reveal banquet three centuries after her birth. It was immediately made obvious that she was a goddess of fire and earth as the two elements levitated towards her and glowed even before she reached for them, but none of the other elements were revealed.

Jasmine was about to ask herself how that was possible when she saw Scarlet snicker to herself at the side. She had swapped all the other scepters for fake ones and King Rian had approved of the idea.

She learnt through many of the other tunnels that Scarlet and King Rian kept sabotaging Catalyah on every occasion. Why? When she learnt that everything Scarlet did was meant to prevent Catalyah from appearing nearly as powerful as she was, she decided to use Dairon's powers.

"I want to know why he doesn't want Catalyah's full powers to show." She ordered The Clock. A tunnel appeared before her which she went through.

She saw King Rian open a scroll with his back to her. She could barely make out the words on it before she once again felt sleepy.

"Jasmine!" An urgent voice woke her up. She was back in her room when she opened her eyes.

"Dairon." She looked up into the eyes of the demigod who was looking at her worriedly. "Why did you get me out of the clock?"

"I had to." He did not explain.

She figured it was why he decided to control The Clock from the outside.

"Scarlet had King Rian's instructions to kill Catalyah." She explained.

"Did you get the answer?" He asked when she was done explaining it.

"I didn't, but I think I know why Scarlet is King Rian's weakness." She sat up, hugging her arms. "King Rian betrayed his mate by getting together with another goddess after causing the death of Delaney. Not only that, but he also had a daughter with her.

Nature decided to punish him by making him lose his powers as soon as his successor ascended the throne."

They shared glances. "Catalyah?" He asked.

"I think so. He got a scroll from a god of time." She tried hard to remember the content. [In six months, four moons of the immortal realm will lighten the Proconian Isles' sky in honor of a fire goddess—Catalyah, the third of the four.] I'm certain he immediately realized that Catalyah was here to replace him. There has never been such a fuss about the birth of a deity before, have there?"

He shook his head. "Not unless they were born for an important reason." Even then, he had to admit that Catalyah's birth was the most prominent.

A tiny version of The Clock appeared in his hand. He looked down at it and smiled. "That's it. King Rian lied to Scarlet. Catalyah was not a threat to her, but to him."

"So basically, Scarlet has lived a lie all her life." It was not the kind of thing to be glad about but Jasmine didn't feel an ounce of pity for Scarlet. Even if she was doing it to save her life, she should have realized that she was being used once she grew up. She didn't, and that was up to her. Was she really a goddess of wisdom? It was almost unbelievable how dumb she was.

"She is not dumb." Dairon stated.

"You read my mind!" She was not upset about it but he had promised not to do it.

"I didn't. I was thinking about how dumb Scarlet is for a goddess of wisdom when it occurred to me. Scarlet has never used her powers before."

"What?"

"Do you know what else is coincidental?" He spun the little clock in the air, thankful that it had helped her find a detail they had overlooked.

"If you break any rule of the immortal realm, fate punishes you by retracting your control over some—or all—of your elements."

"That's right!" She jolted to her knees when she realized it. "King Rian still has his powers intact!"

"Not his own. Scarlet's. He stole her powers when he held her and hypnotized her to sleep. She does have her element but she has no power to use it, and she never realized it because it's not a physical element." He explained, and she was horrified that one would do that to their own daughter.

"Well, this is going to be fun." She smiled. "So, what do we do now? Give Scarlet her powers back? That will make King Rian powerless and no different from an immortal. We can easily finish him off." She facepalmed when she realized that he would have a few more elements that he probably stole from other deities. Would they have to give everyone their powers back?

"We only need to give Scarlet her powers back. You cannot underestimate a goddess who is able to cause so much damage without her powers. She will finish him off. We don't have to get our hands dirty." He explained cynically.

"But Scarlet is a threat to us too." She was worried about the goddess becoming stronger.

"Not if we still have this.." He raised his palm to show the clock on it.
