"Mother," Jasmine tried to call out. The sea remained calm, somewhat giving off an eerie feeling which made her look at Dairon awkwardly.

"How will I know if she heard me?" She asked.

"There isn't a specific way to know. You will just feel it." He did what he was best at—giving insane answers that were not in the slightest bit helpful. How was she supposed to use her gut feeling to determine whether or not her mother heard her?

"Mother, I hope you can hear me." She tried again like the fool he was trying to make out of her. She felt nothing, and according to his logic, it meant that she had not heard her.

"Father, can you hear me?" She tried again. "Dahlia?"

She paused in shock. "Dahlia? I think she can hear me!"

He smiled at her excitement. It meant that the person she was closest to was her sister because she could only feel the connection with her. Besides, she was the person she mentioned the most.

Jasmine was overexcited. Even though she couldn't understand why she thought Dahlia could hear her, her eyes started to sting. "If you can hear me, please tell mother and father that I'm alive.

"I'll…" She was about to say that she would go back when she could, but she realized that Dairon was still listening in on her. How hateful. Even if she asked him to leave, the idiot could simply ask the sea what she said later.

"Can I call her over?" She asked hopefully. It was already late at night and Dahlia might just pass it off as a dream. It would be much better if she could hug her sister and kiss her cheeks. That way, the latter would believe that she was really alive.

"No. You cannot teleport her. You do not have the power to teleport yourself, let alone other people." He dropped a bummer.

"But you can." She countered.

"Not everyone can handle it." He explained. "I only teleported you because I had to. Otherwise, there's a high risk of accidentally killing the other party."

"Alright." She sighed in disappointment. She didn't want to ever risk Dahlia's life even if it meant never seeing her again. On the bright side, she could still pass a message. "This is not a dream, I'm not dead nor am I lost. Tell our parents this, okay? And remember to do your homework, okay? I'll get you more cute ribbons for your hair."

Tears had already flooded her face before she knew it, and Dairon pulled her into a hug.

She pulled away from him in shock and wiped her tears away furiously. "Where did you get the audacity to touch me?"

"I'm sorry. That's how we comfort each other around here. I didn't know it was different for the human world."

He was being sarcastic, she rolled her eyes. She turned to walk away, and noticed a red flash of light approach them.

"What's that?" She was surprised as she turned. It looked like a star floating on the water and when it was close enough, it washed onto the shore.

"I don't think that's for me." Dairon was the first to see it clearly.

"A necklace? It's beautiful." Jasmine picked it up gently. It had stopped glowing and now looked like a heart-shaped necklace with a pair of wings at its sides. It looked magical, and she couldn't help staring at it in awe. It was uncertain what it was made of but this must be the most expensive piece of jewelry she had ever seen and she had seen countless expensive necklaces.

"Is it yours?" Dairon asked, even though he could guess the answer from how surprised she looked.

"No." She shook her head, and wondered why he was asking her. If he didn't know about it, then where did it come from?

"My mother cannot send anything to me, can she?" She asked, hopeful that he would say it was not impossible or something along the lines.

"Humans can only communicate verbally." He dropped yet another bummer. She was starting to think that bad news happened every time he opened his mouth. Couldn't he say something positive at least once? She wasn't asking for much, just one piece of good news.

The necklace glowed in her hand, reminding her of its presence. If it was not theirs, was it really alright to keep it?

"Do you think the goddess sent it to me?" She asked about his mother.

"Let me see." He opened his palm for her to place the necklace in it, then he inspected it closely.

"I don't know what clan it belongs to but it does belong to a deity. Look." He showed her a symbol on the back side of the necklace. "It's the language of the gods."

"Do you think it's a gift for me?" She asked in awe. It really was from the goddess.

"Would the goddess give a necklace to a man?" He asked, making her want to slap him. Would he die if he simply said that it was for her?

She ignored him and turned to the sea, hoping the goddess would hear her. "Thank you very much."

The necklace's hook came undone, as if asking her to wear it which she did. "Oh." She wore it joyously, but a small section of its chain tangled in her hair.

She reached behind her neck at the same time as he did, intending to help her out. Their hands brushed against each other, making her feel a tingle down her spine. He did not withdraw his hand, leaving it on hers. "I'll help you with that." He said in a low tone. It wasn't something she needed help with but she withdrew her hand and let him.

Instead of simply sliding her hair away from the chain since it was of a smooth material, he unhooked it and pushed her hair to one side of her neck. He then put the necklace on her. Her heart seemed to skip a beat every time his fingers brushed against her skin, and she felt heat creep up her face.

"I'll go to my room." She hurriedly pulled away from him to run away, only for him to grab her hand and stop her. "What do you want?" She snapped.

"I haven't asked you why you were in my room in the middle of the night. It can cause a major misunderstanding, you know." Although he was talking about it causing a misunderstanding, he sounded as though he was happy about it, almost as though he would very much like for such a misunderstanding to happen.

She gave him a cold glare. "You're right. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I'm plotting to murder you."

"Is murder the only thing you want to do to me after slipping into my room in the middle of the night?" He asked with a teasing raise of his lips.

"What else would I want? The only other thing I want from you is to get away from you and I do not need to be in your room for that to happen." She said spitefully.

A wave rose above her and fell on her, soaking her completely. "Hey!" She fumed in anger then glared at him, and stomped towards the mansion.

Dairon burst into laughter at the sea's antics. "Don't tease her too much, she will hate me more than she already does."

He followed Jasmine, but she ignored him and rushed to her room with a huff, making him laugh. Why was chasing a woman so much fun?

Jasmine took her time observing and admiring the necklace when she went to her room. She noticed that the heart seemed to glow again, which made it more beautiful to look at. Though she wondered, why would Dairon's mother send her such a valuable gift? They didn't even know each other to begin with. She only knew her from the paintings in Dairon's gallery.

No matter why Alaya would randomly decide to send her a gift, she hugged it and fell asleep.

"Jasmine, come here." Dairon called her over, as he lay on the white sand of the beach. He had no shirt on, which made her scold him as she went over to him.

"Why don't you have a shirt on?" She asked him with a glare.

"Isn't this how you like to see me?" He smiled amusedly and waved her closer to him.

She eased onto the ground and lay on his bare chest while punching his muscles gently. "How can you be so sure?"

"Because you burnt all my shirts."

"Because I burnt all your shirts?" Jasmine woke up with a start and looked beside her. Her body felt like it was on fire after the dream that felt so real. How could she have such a shameful dream? She was so obedient to him and even lay on his bare chest! She even seemed happy about it and played around with him! And what the heck did he mean by claiming that she had burnt his shirts? Luckily, he was not beside her when she woke up.. Otherwise, she would have died of embarrassment.
